From the first day onward, the auction house manager sent Ren a list of items to be auctioned each day, delivered in advance.
A few weeks later, the list included "Three female warriors from Amazon Lily." Without any surprises, Ren bought the three sisters.
Even though he'd drunk with Rayleigh and Shakky — the former queen of Amazon Lily — just days ago, now that he'd spent the money, there was no way he'd send Hancock back.
After planting the Great Serpent Mark on all three girls, Ren prepared to take them back to Inazuma.
The Great Serpent Mark couldn't permanently control Hancock. The future Pirate Empress was fully capable of breaking free from its control. But once a habit formed, her subconscious would come to accept Inazuma as her true home.
The Inazuma kindergarten already had Lucci, Black Maria, Yamato, and Robin. Though Robin spent most of her time in Enkanomiya, a child her age couldn't be too isolated. So she also played and trained with Yamato and the others.
Now three more little ones would be added.
No — at their current ages, it should be called Inazuma Elementary School.
…
After returning to Wano Country, Ren handed the three sisters over to Yuriko. She'd always been enthusiastic about raising children, and Yamato and the others had thrived under her care.
Combat training was handled by Ayame. Like Buggy and the others, Yamato and the rest viewed the fierce Ayame as a terrifying demon lord. But under the demon lord's rigorous training, their strength grew steadily.
In a few years, Ren might need to teach them personally.
After staying to play with the children for a while and helping the three sisters settle in, Ren headed to Enkanomiya.
Keiko had sent him a message recently saying the first batch of modified humans was complete and wanted him to see the results.
This research was led by Stussy. She herself was a clone with relevant research experience, and after years of work, she'd finally achieved something.
Ordinary clones, no matter how numerous, were meaningless. Mass-producing armies like Germa 66 wasn't wise. The key was control and sufficient individual strength.
Quality over quantity.
Arriving at Enkanomiya, Ren followed Keiko to the Lineage Factor laboratory. Stussy was still working at a computer, and in the green tube before her, an unconscious white-haired man floated in nutrient solution.
— Abel.
Ever since being captured, this poor soul had been kept in a container, a lab rat whose blood was constantly extracted. Or more accurately, a living blood pack.
The modified humans created this time were also infused with the Lunarian Tribe's lineage factors.
But these people differed from Furaese. Furaese had naturally possessed some Lunarian lineage factors in a dormant state, which Keiko had later activated.
"Lord Ren."
Stussy bowed respectfully when she saw him.
"Mm. Keiko told me you've created the first batch of modified humans."
"That's right. The modified humans created from this man's lineage factors are all at the testing ground now. But I'm not entirely satisfied — they don't have greater combat strength than the Oni Force." Stussy was clearly dissatisfied with the current research results.
Or rather, even the Lunarian Tribe's lineage factors didn't mean invincibility.
Otherwise, the "God Tribe" from centuries ago wouldn't have been destroyed.
"Would you like to see them?"
"Yes, let's go."
The group headed to the testing ground.
Enkanomiya had two testing grounds — one on the surface, specially built for giant weapons. But there was also an internal testing ground.
The three took an elevator to the lowest level. Through the office glass, they could see a silver cubic space.
Its length and width matched a football field, with a height of twenty meters. Aside from the glass wall, all other sides were steel walls.
Made of special alloy.
Years ago, someone in the research lab had eaten the Munch-Munch Fruit, so various special alloys became more common.
The metal used for this testing ground was memory metal — even if damaged to a certain extent, it could self-repair, though the recovery limit was relatively low.
"Prepare to release the test subjects."
Stussy pressed a button, and the walls on both sides slowly opened. Several men of varying appearances walked out from the center.
Their outfits resembled the battle suits from Dragon Ball, though the performance was certainly inferior.
"These people… their gazes seem very unfocused?" Ren frowned and asked.
"That's right. Due to the lineage factor modifications, their brains suffered varying degrees of damage. Their current intelligence levels range between seven and eleven years old," Stussy said.
Creating perfect clones wasn't difficult — she herself was an example. But with modifications, it was completely different.
Whitebeard II's level of intelligence was already quite good.
Almost all the giants Caesar created were mentally disabled. In the original story, the Banbanja giants sold to Kaido truly had nothing but brute strength.
"In that case, they're complete failures." Ren said this without much disappointment.
Failure was inevitable. If it were that simple, the Marines wouldn't have waited twenty years to roll out the Seraphim.
In the testing ground, after the test subjects were awakened and saw others like themselves, they immediately fell into a frenzy, tearing at their throats and roaring at each other.
But these guys seemed somewhat responsive to orders — before receiving Stussy's command, they'd actually suppressed the urge to attack.
Stussy pressed a button, sending her voice into the testing ground.
"Restrictions lifted."
Hearing those four words, the "monsters" in the testing ground seemed to shed invisible shackles. After stretching their bodies, they charged at the nearest enemy.
Ren watched them brawl with a frown.
Stussy said these guys had the intelligence of eight to ten-year-olds, but because of their beast nature, they appeared far more savage.
In his view, these were nothing more than wild beasts wearing human skin!
