After the Prince left, Cassian's mind raced. He knew he had to heal Elina or Leo would return to kill him.
"Jade," Cassian called out. "Bring the Royal Physician, Master Thomas, here immediately."
Minutes later, Jade dragged a terrified old man into the room. Cassian leaned in. "I know Count Volkov paid you to slowly poison Princess Elina so that the blame would fall on me."
Thomas fell to his knees. "Forgive me, Lord! I was forced!"
"I can save you," Cassian said coldly. "But only if you tell everyone tomorrow that I warned you about the poison and that my 'special medicine' saved the Princess."
Thomas had no choice. He agreed. Cassian whispered to himself, "Count Volkov, let's see how you fall into your own trap."
