Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3

Orivelle, still standing in front of the mirror with marvelous eyes looking at what she became, begins to feel the instincts to hunt, the growl in her guts and that ancient aura.

It was her first real confrontation with her supernatural self, yet it felt like she had always known this part of her. She embraced the moment, overwhelmed, unsure whether she should feel fear or pride.

"My stars…..what you've become", Aunt Phoebe exclaimed slowly walking towards her in amazement.

" Have you been here the whole time?" Orivelle asked, "no,my dear just some minutes ago" she replied, " what's that in your hands?oh is it my birthday present?" Orivelle asked eagerly.

"Sit down my child, I've waited so long for this day", aunt Phoebe said.

The box glowed each time Orivelle looked at it, it was just as if it was syncing with her heartbeat. She sat down next to her aunt with eagerness to what was about to be revealed.

The box was designed in ancient carvings and structure, it faintly hums as if it was singing an ancient song - it looked alive.

Orivelle could feel the box pulling her towards it, making her instincts grow stronger.

Aunt Phoebe gently hands the box over to Orivelle, and also warns her not to underestimate the power inside it.

Orivelle hesitantly and slowly opens the box.

A tear drops from her eyes as she sees a picture of herself and her family, she tries to remember but nothing comes, and gently she picks everything out one by one as Aunt Phoebe explains the value of each item as she handles them. She hadn't yet returned to her human form, but that didn't matter - the moment felt timeless. Aunt Phoebe began explaining everything to Orivelle; "When your mother conceived you, many called it impossible - a mistake. Every time she walked the streets danger followed. Vampires sought her life, werewolves threatened the peace. Our Alpha was forced to take the whole pack into seclusion. Your father couldn't have it, he refused to allow his only child born in an unknown far away place.

On the day you were born, witches used her in a ritual called the Eclipse. They abducted your mother during labour and used her to lock you into the ritual, before we all arrived it was too late. Your father angrily slaughtered every witch in the land, but that couldn't bring her back. Thinking we had lost both mother and child, I bitterly pulled my sister's lifeless body off the table, I felt a weak grab at my shirt, I knew little sis couldn't do something as silly as dying, we hurriedly took her to the only trusted witch in the family, your father's sister. Still in labor, your already weak mother finally brought you into your world, the joy we have all waited for was finally here, our joy was the sadness of the whole city, outside the house was an angry mob of vampires, werewolves, and humans calling out that you be brought to them,so they could cleanse the city from your curse.Your father was and remained the strongest hybrid ever, he refused to let his child be born in a cave like an animal on hunt. He rushed at them, but we knew the outcome would not be in our favor so we came up with a plan. Keeping you in Valemire was a threat to all our lives, so we didn't hide you, we erased your existence.

It was designed to look like the house was raided and bombed by the mobs. Everyone believed the fire took your life and that I died trying to save you - that our bodies were burnt beyond repair.

We had a closed casket burial, the city believed and the danger and threat moved on.

Meanwhile, before the siege took place, a protective spell was cast on us, and we were both secretly phased out of the city.

The bodies and ashes were just fake constructs that helped in making the story more believable. Only a trusted handful of people were aware of the truth.

The world doesn't hunt for what they know is dead.

This was a very hard decision, but had to be made.

And ever since I've taken you as my own and loved you, each year on your birthday, your family always connects with you even though you never knew.

I've waited for this day a long time, the day you finally know what's happening in your life, and yes, you're not ordinary, but girl, you're more than what I would wish for again and again. With tears in Aunt Phoebe's eyes, she hugged her little girl tightly and cried her eyes out. Orivelle couldn't help but tear up as well. During this moment, the grunt slowly fades, she felt peace and then she turned back.It was a moment of letting out, but then Aunt Phoebe suddenly pulled off, "They know, they're here". Before Orivelle could even ask who the door slammed open
