Chapter 15 - Blood on the Coast

As Travis was on his way to the Loran tribe, he saw tongues of flame rising toward the sky from afar.

Meanwhile, under a sky heavy with clouds, the shore was teeming with the movement of massive ships that had come to rest on the wet sand, tongues of fire rising on the horizon, while the screams of the victims echoed among the trees.

At the front stood a bald man, dark-skinned, rough-featured, his face covered with many scars. He had a short, thick beard and cold gray eyes, and beneath his eyes were black lines extending to his cheeks, adding to the harshness of his appearance.

On his arms, metal chains were wrapped around his forearms, while his grip controlled two swords held tightly, and he wore sturdy leather armor covering his chest, carved with the marks of countless battles. His harsh features and constant silence made him look like a living statue of terror and power.

He stood watching the killing and destruction without moving, saying to them:

"Burn everything, leave nothing behind but ashes!"

The huts caught fire, and the families who had taken shelter inside began to scream; some tried to flee, but swords and spears were waiting for them.

The Loran tribe was in a state of chaos; the screams of women, the sobbing of children, and the sound of swords striking bodies—all of it was part of a heavy, bloody scene painted by the invaders with merciless brutality.

The men were killed without mercy, and a group of women were led toward the ships in chains, while children were slapped and dragged forcibly from their mothers' arms.

During that, they placed the leader of Loran, bound, before the fleet commander.

The leader, Kyle, looked at the fleet commander, his eyes shining with tears of pleading, and then said in a slightly trembling voice, "I swear there is nothing here that you are looking for… please… leave the innocents alone! If you are angry, then pour your wrath upon us, but do not touch them."

The fleet commander laughed mockingly, then drew one of his swords and raised the leader's head high before everyone, saying:

"When I want to take land, I do not ask for it—I seize it!"

With a single blow, he severed the head of the leader Kyle, blood spraying into the air, and the ground sank into a heavy silence.

One of the tribe's people tried to cover the small Capilla's eyes, but she saw everything.

Capilla was staring at the fallen body in a state of complete shock, her body stiff, while her tears poured without stopping, and her choked voice murmured, "Grandfather…"

As for the soldiers, they were laughing while tying some men to trees and using them as targets for archery, while others dragged the captives in chains—women and children—being driven toward the ships like slaves.

Capilla was walking with them, her small hands bound, her gaze still fixed on the scattered corpses.

Her broken voice finally came out, barely heard amid the screams of the victims, as she said:

"Where are you, Travis?"

The fleet commander stood among the corpses, then said, "We heard that there is a great kingdom on this island, but we found nothing here but myths! It seems our journey was a waste of time."
