The ice swords curved like living things, chasing the silver light.
They pursued with sonic booms, determined to skewer her.
'Gale Sword Tempest!'
While Illustrious fled, Azuma summoned thirty sword shadows and hurled them down like lightning.
Whoosh! The blades rained in a lethal shower; an ordinary Abyssal Warship would perish under such density.
But Anchorage Princess, a Three-Star Nightmare-class Abyssal Princess, was far from ordinary; she regarded the storm of blades with calm disdain.
Crimson eyes calmly watched the thirty sword-shaped afterimages; just as they closed to within twenty meters, Anchorage Princess tightened her grip on her ice sword, erupted with a terrifying aura, and coated the blade in frost. A single horizontal slash sent a ten-meter crescent of ice energy roaring out.
The ice blade tore through the air like lightning, carving the sky with overwhelming power and speed, smashing into the thirty sword-images with a thunderous crash.
The instant they collided, a chain of explosions rang out across the blue heavens. Every sword-image shattered, and the unstoppable ice blade kept racing toward Azure Dragon.
Seeing her thirty sword-images erased so easily, Azure Dragon dared not meet the strike—she had no need to, she simply had to get out of the way!
Boom! Azure Dragon flared the wings of light on her back and shot away; the moment she left, the spot she'd occupied was slashed open, leaving a ten-meter white scar hanging in mid-air.
That single sword seemed to have fallen from the heavens; only the air rushing back into the void spoke of its razor edge.
Staring at the white gash overhead, sweat beading on her brow, Azure Dragon's heart still pounded—thank goodness her unique element was wind, letting her out-fly any Epic Ship Girl of her rank, or that ice blade would have cut her in half.
Anchorage Princess was truly monstrous; wielding such power, thank goodness she wasn't fighting alone—three minutes? She'd never last that long solo!
Gripping her rigging Tachi, Azure Dragon erupted with her own fearsome aura, violet wings flashing as she streaked toward Anchorage Princess again. Three minutes—no matter what, she would hold on. Dido, please—hurry!
Watching Azure Dragon charge, Anchorage Princess felt no fear, only excitement. She clenched her ice sword, blue wings flaring as she shot forward, blue and green lights racing to collide.
Clang, clang, clang! Blue and green streaks hammered together in the sky, each impact ringing like thunder, shock-waves slamming the sea into towering waves.
Meanwhile, Illustrious, still harried by three ice blades, tried to accelerate and shake them, but the blades matched her speed stride for stride.
Left with no choice, she spun round, silver sword in hand, and slashed horizontally; a keen silver arc burst from the blade.
The silver arc ripped forward with sonic booms, met the three ice blades in a deafening blast, and a violent shock-wave rolled out.
Though dazzling, the silver strike lacked the power to overcome the three blades; it faded, having drained half their strength.
Halved in size and strength, the blades—still guided by Anchorage Princess's will—sped on, determined to strike.
'Keep chasing and even a lady will lose her temper,' Illustrius said softly, watching the shrunken blades race in.
She whipped her silver sword through three quick cuts, slicing every blade in two; the pieces tinkled into the sea.
Done, she glanced at the blue-green clash above and smiled. 'Not bad, Azure Dragon—holding your own against Anchorage Princess!'
'Then I'd better not slack off either. Coming to help!'
Boom! A silver aura flared around Illustrious as she shot toward the duel at top speed.
Had Azure Dragon heard, she would have laughed bitterly; her 'even fight' was only temporary—the more she clashed, the more terrifying Anchorage Princess seemed.
She was barely hanging on; the force of each ice-sword blow rattled her grip on her rigging Tachi.
All she could do was pray Illustrious arrived quickly to share the pressure, before her blade was knocked clean out of her hands.
When Illustrious was within twenty meters she stopped, judged the blue streak's path, and swept her silver sword in a heavy downward cut. 'Sky-Cleaving Slash!'
A three-meter silver arc shot out, space rippling in its wake, leaving a black scar across the blue sky.
The strike howled toward Anchorage Princess as though it meant to split a mountain in two.
