When Dido reached for the glasses, Illustrius panicked: if Dido discovered they were x-ray specs and that she'd already ogled her naked—
'She'll brand me a pervert and blast me to bits!' Without hesitation she whipped them off and stashed them in her rigging space at lightning speed.
Dido sighed inwardly—if only she'd been a split-second faster she could've snatched them.
Illustrious exhaled in relief. "It's nothing special—just a pair of long-range binoculars, pretty useless really, not worth showing."
With the glasses tucked away, Dido couldn't insist. "All right. Looks like the Abyssal Warships are nearly wiped out; I'll go reorganize the line. See you."
"No worries—go handle your work." Illustrious waved with a smile.
As Dido directed the Ship Girls into formation, Illustrious glided beside her and the three fleets advanced.
Only a lucky few had found rare loot; the rest hauled oil, steel, aluminum, ammo, and supplies.
When they reached the center of the Abyssal nest, the enemy didn't rage— they cheered.
Live Ship Girls! Delicious meat! Why wait? Howling, eyes glowing red, fangs bared, the Abyssal Warships charged.
Roughly two hundred surged forward. Dido's face turned grave as she spread her forces in an encircling arc.
Ship Girls and Abyssals collided in a clash of black and white, no talk, only slaughter—kill or be killed.
The fight was fierce, but no Abyssal Princess led the enemy, while three Five-Star Epic Ship Girls bolstered the girls' side. Within half an hour every Abyssal was sunk.
A few Ship Girls were lost, yet beside the total destruction of the Abyssals the cost looked trivial.
Casualties are part of battle; anyone entering the ruin accepts death as a possibility—if you're not ready, stay home.
Sinking Abyssals thrills Ship Girls: each wreck drops chests. A lucky handful uncovered rare prizes; most hauled only resources.
Above them a bee droned—metallic on closer look.
It was Wu Goudan's Zero-Tier ship device, streaming footage to a projector outside Azure Island's gate for the Admirals to watch.
"Whoa! Little Sara's dug up something precious again! Look—it's a purple azure crystal! She's so lucky!"
"Ugh, I'm jealous! Why does my Ship Girl always fish up torpedoes? Dear heavens, did she inherit my awful luck?"
"You two actually got something. My girl sank—poof, nothing left at all."
The Admirals swapped stories of their Ship Girls' hauls; even without rare drops, piles of resources and supplies would restock the Naval Base warehouses.
After Dido's three fleets wiped out the two-hundred-plus Abyssal Warships, she pressed deeper into the Abyssal lair.
Closer to the heart of the lair, an ominous pressure rolled out—the Abyssal Princess within. Every Ship Girl knew their next target.
Thick storm-clouds poured from the spot where that Princess waited, and the girls finally saw her.
The Princess had sickly pale skin, silver hair whipping in the wind, crimson eyes, rabbit-ear rigging horns, skimpy black armor, and a black rigging deployed while countless Abyssal Warships hovered nearby.
"That's Anchorage Princess," Dido told Ayanami and Königsberg grimly. "Her aura matches a Three-Star Epic Ship Girl—so a three-star nightmare-tier Abyssal Princess. We focus-fire together or we sink."
Königsberg snorted. "Only a three-star nightmare? I've lost count of how many I've beheaded. Stay back and watch."
Six wings snapped open; she shot skyward, racing alone toward the nightmare-tier Princess.
"Get back here!" Dido screamed, cheeks scarlet as Königsberg ignored orders. "That's a three-star nightmare—you'll die!"
The louder Dido yelled, the faster Königsberg flew.
"Let her go," Ayanami sighed. "We follow or she's finished."
"Fine—fleet, pursue!" Dido groaned. If they didn't still need the fool for two more lairs, she'd gladly leave her to rot.
