Chapter 17 - 1

Chapter 1

Stiles

The light coming through the curtains was the same soft gray it always was at this hour. Stiles had been awake for almost twenty minutes, lying still on his side, watching the slow rise and fall of Hope's shoulder.

He had been born into this body sixteen years ago with every memory of another life still intact. Stiles Stilinski. Beacon Hills. The Jeep. Scott. Lydia. All of it. And then, one day, he had opened his eyes in a cradle in New Orleans with Hope Mikaelson's face looking down at him, calling him her twin. The universe had given him a second chance and, in the same breath, the one person he was never supposed to want.

He had spent years pretending the want wasn't there. He had been careful. He had been the good twin. The protective one. The one who never looked too long when she changed in front of him, who never let his hands linger when she hugged him. He told himself it was enough just to be near her. That if he ever crossed the line he would lose the only family that had ever felt real.

This morning the line dissolved.

Hope slept on her side facing away from him, the sheet tangled low around her hips. The thin tank top she wore had ridden up, leaving a strip of bare skin above the waistband of her underwear. Stiles shifted closer until the front of his body lightly touched the back of hers. He could feel the heat of her even through the fabric. His heart was already beating too hard.

He leaned in and pressed his mouth to the side of her neck.

The first kiss was soft. Almost testing. He felt the warm pulse under her skin and the faint scent of her shampoo. He kissed her again, slower, open-mouthed, letting his lips drag just enough to taste her. A third kiss lower, near the place where her neck met her shoulder. His hand settled on her hip, thumb stroking the soft skin just above the edge of her underwear.

He kept going.

His mouth traveled down the line of her spine in unhurried increments. Between her shoulder blades. The middle of her back. The small of it. Each kiss lingered. He pulled the sheet lower as he moved, exposing more of her. When he reached the curve of her lower back he paused, breathing against her skin, then pressed an open kiss just above the waistband of her underwear. His fingers hooked the fabric and eased it down an inch.

He had wanted this for so long that the wanting itself felt like a second heartbeat.

Hope

Something warm and wet moved against the back of her neck.

Hope's eyes stayed closed for several seconds while her mind tried to catch up. The sensation was soft at first—lips, definitely lips—then firmer, dragging slowly downward. A hand rested on her hip. Not a casual touch. Not the kind of accidental brush that happened when they shared a bed after long nights of training or missions.

Her twin.

The realization landed cold and sharp.

She should have pulled away. She should have said his name in the sharp voice she used when something crossed a line. Instead she lay frozen, every muscle tight, while his mouth continued its slow path down her spine. The sheet whispered as it slid lower. Cool air touched skin that had been covered a moment before. His breath was warm against the small of her back.

Uncomfortable heat flickered low in her stomach. She hated that it was there. She hated that her body noticed the careful pressure of his fingers at the edge of her underwear. This was Stiles. The boy who had grown up beside her, who knew every version of her, who had always been safe.

His lips brushed the top of her underwear. Then the fabric moved. Just an inch. Then another.

Hope's breath caught. She kept her eyes shut and tried to decide whether she was still asleep. The alternative was too large to look at directly.

Stiles

He felt the exact moment her body tensed. The shift was small but unmistakable. He didn't stop. He couldn't. The need that had lived under his skin for years had finally been given permission, and it was louder than caution.

He kissed lower, following the soft crease where her ass met her thigh. His hands eased her underwear down past her hips. She lifted slightly—whether from instinct or half-conscious cooperation he couldn't tell—and he slid the fabric the rest of the way off. The sheet was gone now. She was bare from the waist down against him.

Stiles settled between her thighs from behind, still fully dressed in the boxers he had slept in. He kissed the inside of one thigh, then the other, slow and deliberate. The scent of her was stronger here. He dragged his mouth higher until he found the soft heat of her. One long, open-mouthed kiss, then another, tasting her carefully. His tongue traced her once, light, then again with more pressure.

His hands held her hips steady. He was shaking a little. Not from nerves. From the sheer fact of finally doing this.

Hope

The first touch of his mouth between her legs made her jolt.

Her eyes opened. The room was still dim. She could see the shape of his dark hair between her thighs, the slope of his shoulders. Her twin. The word repeated itself uselessly in her head. She should have closed her legs. She should have shoved him away and demanded an explanation. Instead a soft, startled sound left her throat and her hips twitched forward without permission.

The discomfort was still there—sharp, disbelieving—but something else was rising underneath it. Heat. A slow, heavy pull low in her belly. His tongue moved again, patient and focused, and the sensation forced a shaky exhale out of her. She gripped the pillow with one hand until her knuckles ached.

"Stiles." His name came out rough. Not a command. Not quite a plea either.

He didn't answer with words. He only adjusted his angle and kept going, slower now, learning what made her breath hitch. One of his hands slid up her side, under the tank top, and found her breast. His thumb brushed over her nipple in the same unhurried rhythm as his mouth. The dual sensation made her eyes flutter shut again.

She was still freaked out. The knowledge of who he was hadn't gone anywhere. But her body was answering him anyway, growing wetter under his tongue, thighs parting a fraction wider on their own. The discomfort began to blur at the edges, replaced by a thick, reluctant arousal she didn't know how to refuse.

Stiles

Hearing his name in that voice nearly undid him.

He licked deeper, savoring the way she opened for him. The taste of her coated his tongue. He worked her with steady attention, circling her clit, then dipping lower to press inside her with the tip of his tongue. Her hips rolled once, then again. The tension in her body was changing shape—less rigid, more restless. He felt the difference and chased it.

His free hand left her breast only long enough to shove his boxers down. His cock sprang free, already hard and leaking. He didn't push inside her yet. He kept his mouth on her instead, determined to make her come first, to feel her break apart under him before he took anything for himself. The years of restraint made every second of this feel earned and dangerous at the same time.

He slid two fingers into her while his tongue stayed on her clit. She was tight and hot and soaked. The sound she made was soft and almost helpless. Stiles closed his eyes and fucked her slowly with his fingers, curling them, matching the rhythm of his mouth. He could feel her getting closer—the flutter around his fingers, the way her breathing turned uneven.

Hope

The stretch of his fingers pulled a broken sound from her throat.

Whatever resistance she still held onto was unraveling. The freaked-out part of her mind kept insisting this was wrong, that this was her twin, that nothing about this could be taken back. The rest of her was too busy feeling. His tongue and fingers worked her with a focus that left no room for coherent thought. Heat gathered low and tight. Her hips moved against his face without shame now, chasing the pressure.

She came with a quiet, startled cry, thighs trembling around his head. The orgasm rolled through her in long waves, stronger than she expected. Her hand found his hair and held on, not pushing him away, just anchoring herself while the sensation crested and slowly eased.

When she could breathe again she realized he was still between her legs, mouth gentler now, kissing the inside of her thigh while his fingers stayed inside her. The discomfort had not vanished completely, but it had been overtaken by something heavier and more complicated. She was still her twin's sister. She was also wet and open and already aching for more.

Stiles lifted his head. Their eyes met in the low light. She saw the same years of restraint in his face that she had felt in her own body. He looked wrecked and certain at the same time.

"I couldn't stop," he said quietly. "I've never been able to stop wanting this."

Hope's voice came out softer than she meant it to. "I know."

She didn't tell him to stop. She reached down instead, fingers brushing his wrist, and guided his hand higher so his palm pressed against her still-sensitive clit. The silent invitation was clear enough.

Stiles moved up her body, settling over her, the hard length of him sliding against her wetness. He kissed her neck again—the same place he had started—then her mouth, deep and slow, while he lined himself up. The head of his cock pressed against her entrance. He waited there, giving her one last chance to change her mind.

Hope wrapped her legs around his hips and pulled him in.

The first thick inch made her gasp against his mouth. He sank deeper in careful increments, stretching her, filling her until he was fully seated. For a moment neither of them moved. The reality of it sat heavy between them: twin to twin, years of shared history now rewritten in the most irreversible way.

Then Stiles began to move.

He fucked her in long, measured strokes, one hand braced beside her head, the other gripping her thigh to keep her open. Hope met each thrust, the earlier discomfort burned away by the steady drag of him inside her. She kissed him back, messy and open, and let the sound of their bodies fill the quiet room.

Outside, the morning continued its ordinary progress. Inside, nothing ordinary remained.
