Ash's perspective
I watched Lyra's lips moving, but the adrenaline still coursing through my system made it impossible to process what she was saying.
I shook my head sharply, fighting to regain focus. As my vision cleared, I caught sight of her waving frantically at me with dramatic arm movements.
"Hello?" she yelled, leaning closer. "I said thank you!"
I managed a gravelly grunt before shifting my attention to Poppy.
The small wolf flashed me a grateful smile.
"We could've handled it ourselves," she claimed, though her tone betrayed her words.
"Like hell you could," I shot back bluntly. "Those three are savage. Candice and Bianca might've chickened out if you'd played it smart, but Roxanne's too cunning. She would've shredded you both."
Lyra exhaled sharply in frustration and pointed toward the table where I'd been seated a short while earlier. I refused to glance that way.
