Chapter 1 - Prologue

The wealthy Leo family, one of California's most powerful business dynasties, had only one heir—Michael Leo.

In his late twenties, Michael had reached the age where marriage was no longer a suggestion but an expectation. Yet he refused every proposal placed before him. When his mother introduced him to the daughter of a fellow billionaire, Michael reacted in fury. His sharp words and threatening tone frightened the young woman so badly that she fled in tears.

The Leo family was vast and influential, and Michael's engagement was considered a duty, not a choice.

What no one expected was that Michael had already found comfort elsewhere—but within the mansion itself.

Margaret, the household maid.

Margaret, an adopted child, worked tirelessly simply to survive. Meeting her madam's son altered the course of her life, though not in the way others imagined. She never loved Michael romantically. To her, he was a rare friend—someone who listened, someone who understood.

But her closeness to Michael did not go unnoticed.

Her direct supervisor, once indifferent, began finding fault in everything she did. No matter how hard Margaret worked, the criticism only worsened. Whispers spread among the maids, and gossip followed her wherever she went. She never understood why—only that she had become a target.

Unaware of the tension, Michael planned a surprise.

On his birthday, a grand family banquet was held. He informed his father that he had found a woman he wished to marry.

Margaret was in the kitchen when Michael entered. Smiling unusually brightly, he took her by the hand and pulled her away. The other maids watched in stunned silence, blushing at the rare warmth on their young master's face.

He blindfolded her, lifting her into his arms as she laughed, completely unaware of what awaited her.

Gasps filled the banquet hall when Michael entered, carrying a woman in his arms. His mother's smile vanished instantly as she rose in fury.

Michael gently set Margaret down and removed the blindfold.

Confused but smiling, Margaret turned slowly, only then realizing she stood before the entire Leo family.

Michael dropped to one knee and presented an engagement ring.

Before Margaret could react, a hand yanked her forward. A sharp slap rang through the room.

Silence followed.

Margaret fled in tears.

Michael erupted in anger, confronting his mother while the guests remained frozen in fear. Madam Leo was not a woman easily opposed—not even by her husband.

That night, Margaret was dismissed from service, though Lord Leo later intervened. She was allowed to continue working part-time at night, when Michael was usually absent.

But Madam Leo was not finished.

She devised a plan with the woman she intended Michael to marry.

Hosting an all-night party, she lured her son in and secretly drugged him. The dosage was incomplete, leaving Michael weak but conscious enough to return home.

As he struggled up the stairs, his father noticed his condition and summoned Margaret to assist him.

She helped Michael to his room and turned to leave—but he pulled her back.

The door locked behind them.

What followed became Margaret's nightmare.

By morning, she resigned in tears.

She returned home broken and silent, hiding the truth even from her parents.

Months passed before the signs could no longer be ignored.

Margaret was pregnant.

Her parents forced the truth from her, confirming at the hospital that she was already six months along. Her adopted mother's rage turned violent, while her father clung to the hope that the child belonged to a powerful family.

They sent a letter to the Leo household—one that was coldly rejected.

Margaret went alone after recieving beating from his mother.

Madam Leo was absent.

Lord Leo met her outside, already aware of everything. Secret cameras monitored every room in his mansion—nothing escaped him.

He gave Margaret a credit card, knowing his wife would never accept her or the child.

When Michael finally learned the truth, rage and guilt shattered him.

Madam Leo's schemes were exposed. Her authority cracked.

But Margaret had already vanished.

Two months later, she was kidnapped.

Drugged but conscious, she was taken to one of Madam Leo's remote villas. Fear consumed her—until fate intervened.

Lord Leo arrived.

She was rescued and taken to the airport to another country. Thailand.

During the flight, stress triggered early labor.

She gave birth to twins.

In Thailand, Margaret awoke to find her children alive—and Lord Leo in tears of relief.

One boy. One girl.

Yet peace never lasted.

Peace did not last. Michael arrived in Bangkok from California days later—unaware that his mother had boarded the same flight.

Michael was held at the airport with journalists, he tried to escape but they over crowded him.

When Madam Leo arrived, what followed was chaos, the family made a devastating decision.

Margaret was left with only her daughter.

For her safety, she disappeared —leaving behind a letter that finally forced Michael to act.

Lord Leo stopped his son from doing something crazy that could spoil his image. He held back in anger.
