"22 YEARS GONE "
I lost you young, just seven years
A courages heart, no place for fears.
You loved your people, stood your ground
Steady in spirit, firm and sound.
Twenty two years without you here,
Through trials faced and paths unclear.
So many moments passed us by
A ice cold beer, a shared goodbye.
Just a young boy, without his father their
Some would say it's Too much to bare.
You went too soon, yet never sad,
Your friends still speak, the man they had.
What son could ask for more than you
A better dad, forever loyal and true.
So in my life, I'll honour you,
And try my best to always come through.
"SPLASH OF SOLACE "
I leap to water's wild embrace,Body screaming from the toll,
Pockets lighter, money's trace
Gone in waves that claim their role.
Yet joy erupts, a long-lost spark, Family echoes in the spray, Laughter drowns the fading dark, Pain dissolves in carefree play.
Around me, friends a circle true,
No failures here in bonds we share,I go berserk, unbridled, new,
Thankful heart beyond compare.
Swim's fierce cost? A worthy price,
For this madness, wild and freeIn people's light, my spirit's vice,
Alive, unbroken,endlessly
"OCTOBER FIRST"
On that dark morn of October's chill, A gunman pulled the trigger, fate's cruel jest, Three shots rang out, my brother's breath stood still,
With tears in eyes, my heart was put to test.
In blood-stained hands, I called for mother's
care,
But silence answered, friends and kin were gone,
The weight of terror hung heavy in the air, A chance denied, while innocence was drawn.
Just fifteen springs, she bore the world's cruel weight,
Her pride, a victim of their ruthless hand, How shameful to know such a twisted fate,
To feel no value in one's own homeland.
Yet through the chaos, screams pierced through the night,
Still, all we had were hollow words, no light.
"GOOD NIGHT"
NKUMBE VALERY AKAME
As the stars shine bright in the night, The moon glows soft, with a gentle light.
The world is hushed, in apeaceful sleep, Good night, my love, may your dreams be deep.
The darkness falls, the day is done, The night's sweet calm, has just begun. The shadows dance, upon the wall, May your rest, be peaceful through it all.
In the stillness, of this quiet night, May your heart find, a gentle delight. The moon's pale beams, shine down on you,Wishing you peace, and dreams anew.
Sleep tight, my love, may your slumber be, Filled with sweet dreams, and serenity. May tomorrow bring, a brighter day,And all your hopes, find their way.
"IF I DIE TODAY"
by Nkumbe Valery Akame
If I die today, please don't cry, Just call my love, her number's nearby:
237482, let her know,
A fake smile will do, as she visits below.
In my warm casket, I'll find my peace, Happy to be where all sorrows cease.
Let her feel the weight of love's cruel game, Loneliness lingers, yet she shares my name.
Bring me a flower, one never given, A symbol of moments we thought were heaven.
So hard to believe love turned to strife, The one I adored became my slow knife.
I remember her words: "We'll fight till the end,"
But I fought alone, no hand to extend.
How painful to see that love brought me dread,
It killed me slowly, left me for dead.
That sweet word, love, a torment concealed, A slow death wrapped in the joy it revealed.
I wish for her strength to lay me to rest, In that quiet place, I'll finally be blessed.
Let her let me down, before the whole world, In the silence of love, let our story unfurl.
"THE DAYS WE THOUGHT WERE BETTER."
By NKUMBE VALERY AKAME
Memories linger, whispers of the past Days we thought were better, forever to last Laughter echoed, smiles shone bright Moments we cherished, in the warm sunlight
But time keeps moving, and seasons change Leaving us with nostalgia's bittersweet range We look back fondly, on what we had found Wondering if those days, will ever come around
Yet in the present, new moments unfold New laughter, new tears, new stories to be told Perhaps the best days, are yet to be found And the memories we make, will forever resound
The days we thought were better, may fade with time
But the love and joy, will forever be mine.
"LOVE AND RELATIONSHIP": by
NKUMBE VALERY AKAME
Two Hearts Entwined
In the warmth of love, we find our nest Two hearts beating, in perfect rest A bond so strong, that time can't break A connection deep, that our souls undertake
With every touch, our love ignites A flame that burns, through day and night In each other's eyes, we see a home A place to belong, where love is known
Through laughter and tears, we stand as one Together facing, life's journey won Our love is a journey, we navigate with care And in each other's arms, we find our repair
In love's sweet garden, we bloom and grow Nourished by trust, and affection's gentle flow Our bond is a treasure, we cherish every day A love that's pure, in every single way.
"MY PRIDE,MY EGO":
by
NKUMBE VALERY AKAME
A Double-Edged Sword
My pride stands tall, a shield so bright Protecting me, from the dark of night But sometimes it hides, the truth from sight And my ego whispers, "You're always right"
It putts me up, with a confident stride But trips me up, with a stubborn pride It makes me strong, yet fragile too A delicate balance, I'm learning to pursue
When pride and ego, take the driver's seat I risk losing, the people I meet But when I tame them, and keep them in line I find humility, and a heart that's mine
"BRING ME BACK TO MY ROOT"
by NKUMBE VALERY AKAME
Take me home, to the land l adore
Where the sun shines bright,
and the rivers flow evermore
To the scent of familiar earth and trees
Where my heart finds peace, and my soul
breathes
Bring me back to my roots, to the place I belong
Where traditions and memories
intertwine like a song
Let me reconnect with the past, and find my way To the essence of who I am, day by day
In the warmth of my homeland's love and light I'll find my strength, and my spirit will take flight Bring me back to my roots, and let me be A part of the land, where my heart is free.

"GARRI MY LIFE , MY SAVIOR" by
NKUMBE VALERY AKAME
Garri, my saviour,you satisty
My hunger and cravings, you never deny A bowl of you, and I'm in delight My stomach's happy, my taste buds take flight
In times of need, you're always there A meal so simple, yet beyond compare Your creamy texture, your garri charm Makes my heart sing, dispels all alarm
With peanuts or fish, you're a treat My senses dance, my hunger retreats A sprinkle of salt, a dash of spice You become a dish, that's simply nice
In the morning, noon, or night You're always ready,a comforting sight Garri, my saviour, you're a friend indeed A meal that's humble, yet a true need.
"BETRAYAL": by
NKUMBE VALERY AKAME
When trust is broken, and hearts are torn By those we loved, and thought we'd known Betrayal cuts deep, like a wound that's born Of shattered faith, and love overthrown
The pain it brings, a heavy heart does bear A weight that presses, and won't depart The memories of what was, now filled with care And sorrow's darkness, that consumes the heart
But still we rise, and learn to heal To mend the cracks, and find a way to feel To trust again, and love anew
Though scars remain, and memories hold true
And though betrayal hurts, it's not the end For love and trust, can again transcend.
This sonnet poem explores the theme of betrayal, heartbreak, and the process of healing and recovery.
"LIFE AFTER LIFE" BY
Nkumbe valery Akame
OH Sweet home,my place of
Rest,that place where my peace
cometh-So i thought,
It feels so good to be home.
places so cold, yet warm,
I can feel the blazing cold
Stagnant, like a bow and arrow ready to shot.
Each step I took came with a pierce, through my
Flesh passed my bones straight down to my
marrows
beckons for natures care but,yet stained in the darkness of compassion, screamed as the arrow
pierced, but my paled voice bangs at the emptiness
of the cold winds, down the valley, but yet, Still can't fine my peace.
"MAY'S AWAKENING" by
NKUMBE VALERY AKAME
As May arrives with warmth and light The world awakens, fresh and bright The lily of the valley blooms with glee May's birth flower, a symbol of sweetness to see
The air is filled with scents so sweet
As petals unfurl, and flowers meet The gentle breeze whispers through the trees As nature's beauty, in May, finds ease
In May's vibrant colors, we find delight A time for growth, and new beginnings in sight The world is fresh, and full of cheer In May, hope and joy, are always near.
The lily of the valley is indeed a beautiful
flower,symbolizing sweetness, purity, and innocence.
"ANOTHER SEVEN OF HOLLOW TALK"
By NKUMBE VALERY AKAME
Seven suns rose high, seven nights fell deep
As words were woven, promises to keep
But beneath the surface, a different tale
A masquerade of smiles, a dance to prevail
Their tongues dripped honey, their hearts aflame
With ambition's fire, that burns without shame
They spoke of hope, but hope's light was dim
A fleeting mirage, that vanished within
The people yearned for substance, for truth to unfold
But politicians' words were leaves blown cold
Empty vessels, making loud, hollow sound
As the wind of power whispered secrets, unbound
The stage was set, the drama played its part
A masquerade of leaders, with hearts that depart
From the people's plight, from the nation's pain
Leaving scars that wouldn't heal, like summer's rain
Seven years of whispers, seven years of strife
The people's voice, a distant, fading life
Their cries and prayers, a mere echo in the night
As leaders feasted, on the crumbs of power's light
Yet still we hold on, to the thread of hope
A glimmer of change, a chance to cope
For a brighter dawn, where truth will reign
And leaders will serve, with hearts that sustain.
