Chapter 37 - All Men Must Die

Back on the ship, Eugene and Stella are still in the midst of their face-off.

Eugene has three of his men behind him, and so does Stella.

'Forgiveness? Rahahahaha, why would I need forgiveness from you?' Eugene mocks.

'Not from me,' Stella clarifies, 'but from the great EooRen.'

'Get out! If that is the only reason you have come on my ship, then you can screw off. I've got bigger things to deal with,' Eugene brushes her off angrily, not having time to put up with whatever she is saying.

'The great EooRen has called for you to serve, and you m—'

'Shut your trap!' Eugene cuts her off. 'You and your Renren can go die for all I care.'

Hearing this, Stella gets visibly annoyed.

One of the men standing behind her steps up to defend her.

'How dare you insult the ninth apostle like this? Such blatant disrespect will not—'

Stella raises her hand, cutting him off.

Then she turns her furious gaze back at Eugene.

Five seconds of silence pass between the two, with neither side saying anything and Stella keeping up her glare as though she is waiting for something from Eugene.

Eugene grows tired of the silence and begins moving towards Stella.

'If you're not going to leave, then I'll—'

BANG!

Stella pulls out a gun from her coat and shoots Eugene in the chest.

Both sides stand stunned as Eugene falls to the ground, dead.

Stella looks somewhat relieved as she speaks.

'Five seconds I gave you to take back your words, and you didn't. Such mockery will never stand in my presence.'

One of the gang's executives, Jane, runs to the boss on the ground and begins shouting his name.

'EUGENE!! EUGENE!!!'

The other two just stand by, stunned and unable to understand what has just happened.

Then Stella turns to the guy who spoke up for her.

'You,' she states coldly before raising her gun.

BANG!

She shoots him square in the head.

'It was not disrespect against me that should not be condoned, but against the great EooRen. Anyone who doesn't understand that deserves her grace, talk less of standing under our banner.'

The other two stand there unphased like this is a normal occurrence.

She is insane, Lopard thinks to himself as he regains his composure.

He brings out his gun and points it at her, ready to fire.

'Don't move!'

Rather than fight back, she simply sheathes her gun and begins leaving the room.

'Handle these ones,' she commands her two remaining men.

'Your judgment is nigh,' she states as she exits the room in confidence.

As she leaves, the two cultists and three gangsters begin a shootout, neither side backing down.

'She is getting away,' Reis complains, being unable to move forward due to the constant fire.

'I'm going to kill that bitch,' Jane states as she peeks out from the corner to fire at the cultists.

There is a standstill between the two sides, right when a spray of gunfire comes raining in from behind the cultists, killing both of them before they can even react.

'What's going on here? I heard gunfire and yelling, so I came running,' Yumel states, walking past the gangsters' dead bodies. 'My lo—'

She stops her sentence right before spotting the boss's body lying on the floor.

She stops every movement as her eyes widen and go grey with shock.

'My... lord.'

She bends down to check his body. He has no pulse, and his skin is already turning grey.

She turns his face over to face her and looks into his eyes.

'My lord, please respond.'

Jane steps out of her cover and speaks to her.

'He is dead,' she clarifies in a sombre tone.

Yumel holds his chest close to her bosom before releasing a blood-curdling scream.

'NOOAAAAAAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!'

The scream echoes out like it is coming from the depths of her soul.

She turns to face Jane with eyes full of hate.

'Where is he?!'

Jane doesn't understand the question at first, so Yumel repeats herself.

'Where is the bastard who killed him?! Bring him to me right now!!'

Jane points towards the exit.

'She just left. I think she was heading towards the party deck.'

Yumel shuts the boss's eyes and carries his body to a secure corner of the room before kissing him on the lips and speaking to his corpse.

'Don't worry, my lord. I will avenge you. And soon... I'll be coming to join you.'

She gets up and begins heading towards the deck, but Jane calls out to her.

'Wait, let me join you.'

'Don't even move,' Yumel refutes her. 'Just remain there like you did when you let the boss die in front of you and you did nothing to help him.'

Jane doesn't move, as she has nothing to say in her defence, and Yumel walks out of the room.

Yumel makes her way to the deck, shooting down all the cultists she sees on her way until she arrives at the deck.

There, she can see Stella standing surrounded by cultists, and she immediately knows she is the one who killed Eugene.

She raises the barrel of her gun, about to shoot, right when she sees someone walk up to Stella.

Someone she knows well.

It's Cerad.

She holds her fire to see what the relationship between the two is.

Cerad walks up to Stella and begins talking to her like they are acquaintances.

'So about what we agreed, I have given you everything on my end.'

'Our agreement won't be holding up,' Stella disappoints. 'Eugene is dead, and the great EooRen's mercy has run out.'

Cerad is getting angry as he tries to argue with her.

'But this isn't what we agreed on! You said I could—'

BANG!

Cerad's words are cut short by a bullet through the head.

Yumel turns her aim to fire at Stella next, but one of her underlings gets in the way, taking the bullet for her.

'Fine then, more brains to blow,' Yumel scoffs as she begins to mow down all of Stella's underlings trying to get in the way of her shot.

Stella doesn't move an inch and is unfazed by all the commotion, as if she knows that nothing is going to happen to her.

She begins addressing Yumel.

'One of Eugene's underlings, are you? Your devotion is admirable. It's a shame you are not on our side.'

'DO NOT UTTER HIS NAME FROM THAT YOUR FILTHY MOUTH!!' Yumel shouts.

Not long after Yumel begins shooting at the cultists, they return fire, causing her to have to take cover.

The ruckus causes more gangsters to come to the scene.

One of the cultists walks up to Stella, handing her a helmet.

'It is ready.'

A wide smile spreads across her face as she walks up to the pagoda where all the gangsters and cultists can see her.

She spreads her arms wide and speaks.

'BEHOLD!'
