Dan

He didn't want to make Nick come with his venom. He wanted to go all the way with him. He wanted to do it the proper Grosh way, with Dan's venom in his blood and his cum in Nick's core. This... this was just a watered-down version of what sex could mean with him.

It was pretty standard to do venom-induced orgasms in Grosh among partners. Priming could be quite cruel at its peak. When partners were still struggling with Alpha-Omega dynamics, this was how they took care of each other. The venom took the edge off the soaring need building in their bodies. It went both ways. But Dan would have to remain unsatisfied because Nick wasn't a Grosh. He didn't have an avath, and he was too tired from his orgasm to do more. Not that Dan needed more; he was satisfied just watching his mate basking in the aftermath of his orgasm.

Dan's body was an issue, though. He huffed in frustration before walking to the bathroom to take care of himself.

He lowered his pants and took the aching thing in his hands. It wasn't often that Dan self-relieved. In Grosh culture, it was a shameful act, especially for a primed male. But Dan had no other way to take care of the thing between his legs than to do this. Because if he didn't, he would have an extreme case of blue balls that even Ira wouldn't be able to treat.

He touched himself, but his hands weren't doing the trick.

Dan closed his eyes and tilted his head back as he let out a slow exhale. His consciousness stretched and twisted, pulling him into the void where dreams and reality merged. This was uncharted territory: stepping into Nick's dream. Grosh were adept at traversing parallel consciousness, but humans? This was entirely different, and Dan felt the weight of the unknown pressing on him.

He found himself standing in a vast expanse of darkness. It hit him immediately: Nick was in deep sleep, where the mind truly rested. Dan's senses tingled as he adjusted to the absence of thought, seeking Nick in the boundless dark.

Then, a pinprick of light appeared in the distance, growing steadily until it illuminated a small circle beneath it. There, under the stark fluorescent glow, sat Nick. His head was tilted back, his eyes closed, a serene smile curling on his lips. Dan's chest tightened at the sight, a strange blend of relief and longing washing over him.

"Nick," Dan called softly, his voice a low hum that seemed to ripple through the emptiness.

Nick's eyes fluttered open, confusion flickering across his face as he looked around. "Dan?" His voice was laced with uncertainty, yet it held an unmistakable warmth.

"Yes, it's me, love," Dan replied, his words slipping into his mother tongue instinctively. In this realm, language barriers dissolved. The parallel consciousness operated beyond speech; thoughts and emotions flowed freely, understood on a primal level. Nick's brow furrowed for a moment, then smoothed as understanding dawned on him, as if Dan's words had bypassed his mind and spoken directly to his soul.

Dan crouched before him, his eyes never leaving Nick's face. Gently, he reached out, his hand finding its way to Nick's cheek. His thumb brushed Nick's lips in a soft, deliberate motion, reveling in the softness of them.

Nick blinked up at him, his expression a mix of wonder and vulnerability. "Where are we?" he whispered.

"In the space between dreaming and waking," Dan replied, his gaze unwavering. "I needed you. I couldn't stay away."

Nick's eyes flickered between Dan's legs. He wouldn't be able to make out the shape and size of it yet. Dreams could only create what they already knew. To Nick, it would just be an illuminated blur.

"Why can't I see you?" Nick asked in confusion.

"You will in time," Dan said, kissing Nick and feeling his soul interact with his.

"Do you need my help?" Nick teased, touching his pulsing cock.

Dan chuckled. "Unfortunately, yes. You are the only thing I need, Nick."

"What do you want me to do?" Nick asked, eyes hooded.

"Whatever you want. Just touch me. I'm dying for it."

"Is this okay?" Nick asked, running a finger along Dan's naked chest.

"Umhmm..." Dan groaned.

Nick's touch made Dan unable to help himself, he came soon enough. The orgasm pulled Dan away from the dream realm. He wanted to stay there longer but the dream realm was tricky, especially if the other person doesn't entirely have control over the dream self.

Dan slumped back on the wet bathroom as we came back to reality. Satiated, for now, he knew the hunger would return tenfold stronger. Things that would come next were going to be so much worse. Both of them felt that this need would be nothing compared to the ache of mating in the coming days. It would take much more than his venom to satiate them.

Dan cleaned his hands and went back to the bedroom. Nick was still dreaming; Dan could see him clenching his legs. Time in the real world and the dream realm traveled at different speeds. What had already happened to Dan was still happening to Nick. It felt wrong to stand there and watch Nick experience that. So, he removed himself from Nick's side before he did something he had no control over.

He needed to talk to his people. Finding a mate was a big deal; his people should know about the progress.

"You're saying that you're primed to a human male?" The voice of Nahrane, Dan's long-time friend and the current president of the Grosh, came through the communication device with a mixture of surprise and skepticism. The crisp undertone of disbelief in his words stung more than Dan cared to admit.

"Yes," Dan replied evenly, though a sigh of weariness escaped his lips. He'd been asking himself the same question ever since it happened. Why Nick? How was it even possible for a Grosh male to be primed to a human? There were no precedents, no explanations. But here they were.

Nahrane was silent for a beat, clearly processing the revelation. When he finally spoke, his tone was carefully measured, veiling what Dan could only assume was irritation or disapproval.

"Well, congratulations, then. We would like to meet your omega."

Dan's jaw tightened. The formality in Nahrane's voice did little to hide the lack of enthusiasm behind the sentiment. Yet Grosh etiquette dictated civility, and Nahrane was too smart to outright object—at least for now. Regardless, Dan wasn't naïve enough to think everyone would share in his joy. Tradition ran deep within Grosh society, and the idea of their next king being primed to a human, let alone a male, would undoubtedly ruffle feathers.

"Sure, Nahrane," Dan replied, forcing his tone to remain neutral. "Everyone will meet him soon."

But unease coiled tightly in his chest. The tension back home in Grosh had been palpable even before he left for Earth. His father, the reigning king, was a figure Dan respected but had never been close to. Their strained relationship didn't help matters, especially when it came to the contentious politics of succession. As the crown prince, Dan was expected to uphold traditions, not challenge them.

And Nick... Nick was the ultimate challenge to everything his people valued.

The murmurs of dissatisfaction among his father's advisors had been growing louder, their resentment clear in the subtle but pointed whispers during meetings. Dan suspected his popularity as a leader had unsettled those who stood to lose the most when he ascended the throne. His sudden dispatch to Earth under the guise of diplomacy had been less about fostering intergalactic relations and more about removing him from the political chessboard for a while.

Now, with this news, he'd given them a new weapon to wield against him.

A pang of regret twisted in his gut. Had it been a mistake to share the truth about Nick with Nahrane? Power struggles weren't unique to Earth; even in Grosh, alliances could crumble, and loyalties could shift in the pursuit of authority. If anyone perceived Nick as a weakness, as something—or someone—that could be used to manipulate Dan, the consequences could be devastating.

But no matter what, Nick was his mate. Human or not, Nick was now tethered to him in ways even he didn't fully understand yet. And as both a Grosh male and the future king, Dan would protect him with every fiber of his being—even if it meant going against his own people.
