Chapter 54 - FIST, PALMS & FINGERS (3)

"Did you figure it out?" The man in white was stained in red. Blood splattered across the cart and bodies laid down in a pile next to him. Surprisingly he took Akame's words literally and made sure that none of them were alive when they entered.

Gil ignored the bodies, answering the man's question.

"Yeah, I lose fragment energy whenever I try and throw a punch I realize when it lands there's not enhancement, because fragment energy takes too long to reach my arm, so by the time the punch landed there's no energy to back it up so it feels like an ordinary punch."

"How did you get passed that?"

"I simply just sent energy towards my fist before I punched."

"Oh, so you just created a lag." The man held his chin, "That's actually really smart, I did it differently though."

 "How?"

"I just trained like a maniac to master all four of my gates which is the only way I thought I could master control of my chi. But what you did would be nearly impossible for a regular sorcerer."

 "Really, I don't think so."

"I do." The man explained, "While on the surface level fragment energy seems easy to take control over. Most people overlook the energy aspect of it. As energy it follows the rules of energy conversion. Meaning that when you release that energy it can be anything else, unless you direct it. Most people forget that enhancement is a default effect when fragment energy comes into contact with living cells and tissues. So enhancing your muscles to carry or lift more isn't all that impressive."

"That's why I could do so many push-ups with just adding a bit of fragment energy."

"It's the other attributes besides enhancement that really matters."

 "What are they."

"C'mon you still have palm and fingers to master before you'll be ready to learn all that."

Gil smiled, "I think I'm already an expert in this thing."

"Nope, palm and fingers are a lot harder and the exact opposite of fist."

 "You can't be serious."

"Fist spreads damage over a large surface area on the outside, palm concentrates the damage over a smaller surface area on the inside."

RUMMBLE!

"It seems Akame-San is sending more people our way. Get ready. I won't save you if you get in trouble."

"if you did I'd get mad."

 ***

'Attention all passengers, there seems to be some sort of disturbance on the train. We advice that you stay in your designated seats we will be making a police stop at Molo in Nakuru county which we will arrive at in 20 minutes. Avoid conflict if you can.'

The voice on the intercoms confirmed their near arrival at one of the check points. Catherine sat on one of the chairs in the last train car.

CLICK!

Akame entered through the other door. "I've led to passengers to the other train cars." He said, but more to himself than Catherine, who was busy looking outside.

"Which car was ours?" She finally asked, more out of guilt for not being to helpful rather than curiosity.

"We were sited at the one in the center. This train has a maximum of 10 cars, we were seated at the fifth one which is extremely lucky."

But then now how to proceed. Akame had sent most of his clones to the cars that were ahead, so that they in turn could lead most of the sorcerers here to the man in white and Gil who were at the center. While also sending passengers to cars forward.

 "I have a plan, C'mon."

Catherine got up and followed Akame out of the train car.

PALM!

It had worked on some opponents but others it felt as though his own energy was being repelled.

"When you use fist you spread energy over a large surface area, this is also helpful because a person reflexively accumulates a lot of energy on the body part where they think their going to be attacked so there's less fragment energy covering their other parts."

Palm on the other hand concentrated over a small area as stated before. Thus it would have been more difficult especially if the explanation remained the same as before. Since you concentrate energy where you think you'll be attacked in order to boost protection that persons energy repels yours.

The men and women who were currently attacking Gil and the man in white wore suits all of them, this led to the man believing that they were hired by a company. Or they were average sorcerers, because non of them even thought of using a technique of one sort or the other. In other words they were fodder, but they did make for great punching bags so Gil could learn how to use the new set of moves the man was trying to teach him.

 PALM!

The man pushed back by palm seemed to have received significant damage to the upper chest, but it wasn't enough as he just came running back. Gil stepped to the side tripping him before hitting him in another palm to the chest.

"Its taking more energy to finish them off."

"But I'm hoping you can see why." The man stood facing the opposite car direction, his back turned to Gil, "With palm its more about overcoming someone else's energy. A really efficient way to take control of a fight and mastering your own fragment energy control."

 "Well it is very annoying."

"Its ok, since you mastered fist, palm and fingers can wait for another day, those two require some training, but I'm sure you'll be able to get there."

CLICK!

 Gil took his stance.

"Wait!" The man shouted holding his right arm.

He did this because coming through the door was Catherine and Akame.

"Oh, how long has it been?"

"About an hour, give or take. But we're not here to talk about that. Did you hear what the woman on the intercom said?" Akame got straight to business.

"Oh, about us arriving at Molo in about 20 minutes?"

 "Yeah."

"Its most likely an extrapolation so as to throw us off guard, I'd say we have about 10 minutes maximum before we get there."

"I agree." Akame took out the phone he had in his pockets, "I have an idea that might be able to help us, but then it would take us an even longer time to get to Nairobi."

"All I'm hearing is that we have more time to go on an adventure." Catherine celebrated.

"Well, we have literally no options right now, so what do you have in mind?"

"Are we going to hijack a train, like in those old cowboy films?" Gil asked.

"Like the films?" Catherine was just excited to hear the words film mentioned.

"Sadly something less epic, but more practical. You ready to hear it?"

 The group nodded in unison.

A DETOUR AHEAD.
