Chapter 5 - Overbearing Nimbus 1

The year had ended and a new one had started. It has been a few months since I last saw Adrian and I admit I've been extremely lonely. I've been trying to make friends but it's very hard.

I looked at the schools entrance gate right in front of me and I held my back pack and lunch bag tightly. I looked at my outfit: White shirt tucked neatly inside my navy blue skirt, a blue tie was wrapped around my neck and a blue jacket finshed the look, Cute black shoes with white socks embroidered with flowers to add to the look.

I breathed in and walked into the school. A new school, new associates, new grade and a new year.

What will this year have for me?

...

I walked into the class which was highlighted to be 11A. A class for pure sciences.

The moment I stepped in, the chatter of those inside quieted down. I walked to the front board where the teacher was standing and she warmly introduced me.

I scanned the room and spoke, "Hello everyone, it's so good to be a part of this class."

I heard as the boys gasped and the girls murmured. Whatever was going on in their heads was non of my concern. The teacher assigned me to sit at the right front row seat besides a bunch of girls.

.....

I talked to nobody that morning and minded my own business. Though some girls tried to initiate small talk by asking me lots of questions. I wasn't annoyed though, rather I was interested in knowing what they thought of this whole situation.

There was a girl behind me, she looked around my age and she looked extremely shy, like she was scared of something. We made eye contact when I looked back though she broke it quickly.

...

Classes were over by 3:30 PM. Everybody started moving out of classes going to who knows where if not home. I stayed.

I looked at the class and how disorganized it looked. And so I started setting things up. I don't know if it's OCD for cleanliness and organizing things in a specific way and only in the way I preferred but I had a habit of organizing things even when unnecessary.

When I was done cleaning the classroom, I took my back back and prepared to leave.

"Why did you arrange the whole classroom and by yourself?"

I looked at the boy who stood outside the classroom and looked at me through the window. I gave a huge smile and replied, "Cause I wanted to."

"Why though. You aren't going to get paid by the school."

"True they won't. But I can't stand disorganization."

"You're interesting. I'm Norman. Nice to meet you Amelia."

Norman. The cutest boy in class and the class president. Known to be the smartest but also the quite interesting guy. Some say he's a little weird. But I don't think so.

I smiled. "Nice to meet you too."

*******

Teenagers are all interesting people who all want to be apart of something. To be known as special people, to be popular and to be seen.

I walked into class and observed as Norman walked up to me and greeted me. He took my hand and took me to his friends group. All the boys looked at me with that knowing smile. That can only mean two things; one, they're interested in being more than friends or two, they see me as a tool and naive girl.

At school we are involved in things that we know are against our parents rules. Yes even whilst knowing the consequences,we still do it anyways.

Alot are involved in drug dealing, alcoholism, prostitution, smoking and for some even as what others see as small crimes, the most common but underrated one, using others for the benefit of ourselves.

Norman let me hang around with him and his friends and it was entertaining. He asked questions about my life. Listened. And for the first time in a long time, I felt chosen.

I didn't know what I was feeling.

When he said he wanted to know me better, I said yes too quickly.

When he looked at me like I was special, I believed him too deeply.

And when I asked him to be mine, he agreed.

And we became that one power couple in school.

*******

One afternoon I was talking to one of the school student president in his class room. Jake was very friendly and we liked similar things.

He looked up at me and asked "Why aren't you with your boyfriend?"

"He's too busy playing football at the school football pitch. He asked me to wait for him and take care of his things."

"And you're okay with that?"

I nodded.

He looked at me as though he wanted to say something but I watched as his eyes looked behind me. I followed his gaze and I saw Norman by the door with an angry look.

I smiled and greeted him but he only murmured. "We leave now. Amelia!"

With that said he stomped out. I was flabbergasted as to why he was suddenly so upset. Did they lose the match or something?

I said my goodbye to Jake and hurried out to catch up on Norman.

I got closer and held his left arm.

"Norman! Wait. Talk to me. What happened?"

He turned to my direction with a blazing gaze at me.

"What happened? Ha ha! You happened Amelia."

"What? What do you mean I happened!"

He merely laughed and continued, "What do you think you were doing with a guy in an empty class room mate?"

"We were only talking."

"Yeah sure only talking. Fine then".

"Norman why are you being so sarcastic to me. Is that why you're upset. Because I talked to another guy alone?"

"What do you think?"

"I don't get you at all. Who else was I supposed to talk to you? You were busy and I was alone. If you hadn't asked me to wait I would have been home and I wouldn't have to be all by myself. "

"Oh so now it's my fault!?" He yelled at the top of his voice.

My pupils dilated and my jaw dropped. I was shaking and my breathing hitched. Flickers of the past flashed through my eyes and tears spilled down my cheeks.

Norman's eyes softened and he pulled me into a hug and stroked my back.

After I calmed down, he whispered "If you avoid making me upset non of this will happen again."
