Selene's POV
I couldn't breathe.
The air in the tunnel felt too thin, too heavy, like the stone walls themselves were pressing in on my chest.
Ronan.
The name echoed inside my mind like a gunshot.
Damon's Beta.
His second-in-command.
His brother in everything but blood.
The man Damon trusted with his life.
The man who had been "helping" investigate the conspiracy tearing the pack apart.
And he was orchestrating it.
My back pressed hard against the cold stone wall as I watched the shadows swallow Ronan and Lyra.
Their footsteps faded deeper into the hidden tunnels beneath the packhouse until there was nothing left but silence.
My hands trembled.
Every instinct screamed at me to move.
To run.
To get back to the tunnel entrance before someone noticed I was gone.
Before they realized I had heard everything.
But my legs refused to cooperate.
They felt locked in place.
Frozen.
Because the truth I had just discovered was heavier than fear.
