Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: News From the Heroes, Villagers’ Reactions

It was a calm morning in Bran Village. Birds chirped, chickens argued over the coop, and Empoy was sitting outside his shack, tinkering with a small mana-thread coil. Sparks flickered harmlessly across his fingers.

Finally… a peaceful day. Just tinkering and… maybe a nap later. Perfect.

On his table lay half-assembled devices: a self-adjusting lantern, a miniature shock net, and a compact coil generator.

Empoy hummed softly to himself, carefully connecting two wires. Everything was quiet. Too quiet, in fact.

The Courier Arrives

A courier came running into the village square, flustered and out of breath. Villagers gathered around him curiously.

"Everyone! Listen! Important news from the kingdom!" the courier shouted.

The villagers leaned in. Even Empoy peeked from behind his shack, sipping tea casually.

"The heroes fighting demons in the northern provinces… they've made progress!" the courier continued. "Huge battles, massive demons, villages saved, and… chaos everywhere!"

The villagers gasped.

"Hero A is leading the frontline, barely surviving demon ambushes!""Hero B is firing massive spells, very flashy, loud… and sometimes misfiring, but surviving!""Hero C… quiet swordsman… still alive and cutting through enemies efficiently."

The villagers murmured among themselves, impressed.

Empoy raised an eyebrow. "Oh… so the world-saving heroes are saving the world… as usual. Fascinating."

The courier waved his arms, getting more dramatic. "And… while the heroes are busy, the kingdom struggles! But—uh—you, Bran Village, are safe… for now."

Empoy tilted his head, looking over the village quietly. "Yes… safe… and quietly boring. Perfect."

Villagers React

The villagers whispered among themselves:

"So the heroes are doing all the dangerous work…"

"We live quietly in this village… lucky, I guess?"

"But… what about Empoy? He's just… tinkering in his shack…"

Nobody knew that Empoy had once been transmigrated alongside these heroes. To them, he was just the banished extra from the kingdom, quietly living far away.

Empoy smiled faintly, adjusting a small coil.

Quiet life… preserved.Nobody knows anything… just how I like it.

Back to Tinkering

After the crowd dispersed, Empoy returned to his tinkering table.

He spread out more scraps and devices:

A mana-thread enhanced broom, perfect for detecting hidden magic traces

Miniature self-charging coil traps for wandering monsters

Small reinforced blade traps, just in case

He muttered to himself:

Quiet life… peaceful village… tinkering… perfect.

Lightning flickered faintly across his fingertips as he tested a new mana-thread coil.

One day… maybe I'll need these for something bigger. But not today. Today is quiet.

From a distance, villagers glanced at him respectfully:

"He's quietly amazing…"

"Our protector… though he doesn't even want credit."

"We should leave him alone… maybe bake bread occasionally."

Empoy smirked faintly, adjusting a tiny gadget on the table.

Protector. Inventor. Banished extra… quietly unstoppable.Bran Village… quietly safe.
