The group wanders through the light filled streets of Tokyo, taking in the beautiful sight of the city at night, knowing full well what is still about to come across their paths.
Extremely tired, as they haven't slept in hours they walk towards a big hotel at the end of the long empty road.
The air is cold, sending shivers down their spines, the streets empty, as if not one single human would be living in this city. Where was everyone? Why was there no one here?
The main door of the hotel opens, and the warm light flows towards the group. Not many people were to be seen in the main hall of the hotel, despite its size. One man was sitting at a table, reading a novel on his phone, another one stood beside a drinks machine waiting for his can to come out and a tall woman, with long blonde hair, and a long dark red dress was standing at the hotel reception desk, talking to the receptionist.
Soft jazz filled the lobby, which was uncomfortably warm. Despite the heat, the other guests remained indifferent. The only friction came from the front desk where the woman was making a scene, and the receptionist was clearly buckling under the pressure of her demands.
"Hey, excuse me, is there a problem here?" Kami asked the woman politely.
"Get lost kid, this is none of your-" as the woman turns around and sees the two men and the cat on Kami's shoulder, she stops with what she just wanted to say. "Oh hello, handsome fellow, who are you?" she says in a flirtatious tone to Kaito.
He didn't notice she was talking to him until Kami gave him a light nudge with his shoulder.
"oh um, sorry nice lady, are you talking to me?" he stammered nervously.
"Of course I am talking to you, who else would I be calling handsome?"
Ignoring the woman's attempt to flirt with Kaito, Kami walked towards the receptionist and asked him if there'd still be a room free to use.
"I assume, the cat is supposed to stay with you? If that's the case, then we only have one room free, where animals are allowed and that's a solo room. So your friend can't stay with you. Because the only other room we have free is a double one"
Kami looked over to Kaito, who was still talking to the lady that flirted with him, and then looked back to the receptionist. "I guess that's fine, isn't it Kaito?"
Kaito looked over to them, but before he could answer the woman answered for him "Yes of course, I'll just share a room with this handsome young man"
The receptionist saying to himself "finally, she wouldn't stop bothering me, because I had no room free for her, thank god those guys came along and fixed my problem."
"Okay, then for you young man," he looked at Kami, "this is your key. The room is number 013 on the lowest floor"
He then looked at Kaito and the woman "Here, that's your key, the room number 007"
Kaito takes his key, kaito his and they walk towards the elevator.
"So Kaito, and nice lady we just met, I wish you a lot of fun, and we will see you again in the morning"
Kaito and the woman opened the first door on the lowest floor and entered their room. Kami and Inu walked a bit further down the floor, as the rooms seemed to be pretty big, as the next door always came after a few meters.
"What the hell was that? Does Kaito really spend the night with a stranger now? In our situation?" Inu said more to herself than to Kami.
"It seems so, but we have to rest, so I think it'll be fine," Kamit answered.
They arrive at room 013 and open the door. The room was beautifully designed, a big wooden bed with white/golden sheets and pillow, a separate room with a big shower and a golden armchair in the corner of the room.
"This looks nice" Kami said, before immediately heading towards the shower.
Inu walked into the bathroom with him and washed herself as cats do.
After the finished they both headed towards the bed. Kami immediately fell into the bed, covered himself with the blanket and almost fell asleep. But he couldn't stand Inu's sad face, sitting on the floor, so he said "Hey Inu, come here, you don't have to sleep on the floor. Come under the blanket with me"
Inu smiled and purred, then jumped onto the bed and cuddled herself under the blanket to Kami, both thinking about all the dangers that surely will come, before falling asleep shortly after.
