Chapter 34 - Chapter 34 – The One Who Can Control the Storm

The mansion trembled.

Cracks spread across the marble floor like spider webs.

Broken glass hovered in the air, slowly spinning as if gravity had forgotten its job.

Daniel was at the center of it all.

On his knees.

Breathing hard.

Shaking.

Rachel held him tightly, her arms wrapped around his shoulders.

"Daniel… listen to me."

But he wasn't hearing her.

His eyes were wide open, glowing faintly with that strange silver light.

"I can hear them," Daniel whispered.

Rachel swallowed.

"Hear who?"

"Everyone."

His voice sounded distant.

"People outside… people upstairs… the soldiers… the rain… the thunder… everything."

Rachel felt chills crawl down her spine.

The air around Daniel pulsed again.

BOOM.

A nearby wooden cabinet shattered into splinters.

Mercenaries stepped backward nervously.

"Boss… that kid is dangerous."

Lucien chuckled softly.

"No kidding."

Selene, however, looked absolutely delighted.

Her silver eyes shone with excitement.

"This is magnificent."

Raziel stepped closer cautiously.

"Daniel," he said calmly.

The boy didn't respond.

Raziel's eyes shifted to Rachel.

"You need to calm him down."

Rachel looked at him helplessly.

"How?!"

Another shockwave rattled the hall.

A long crack spread across the ceiling.

Dust rained down.

Daniel's breathing grew faster.

"I can't stop it…"

Rachel's heart was breaking.

"Daniel look at me!"

But he still wasn't present.

Still trapped inside whatever storm was exploding in his mind.

The Storm Inside Daniel

Daniel clutched his head.

"It's too loud!"

Rachel's chest tightened.

"What's loud?"

"Everything!"

His voice broke.

"The walls… the ground… even people's hearts…"

Rachel froze.

He could hear heartbeats?

Selene whispered softly,

"Enhanced sensory perception."

Lucien leaned against the wall.

"This family is getting more interesting by the minute."

Rachel ignored them.

Her focus was only on Daniel.

He was shaking violently now.

The floating glass shards in the air began spinning faster.

Dangerously.

One of the mercenaries shouted.

"Watch out!"

A shard flew across the room like a bullet.

It embedded itself deep into a wall.

Rachel's fear grew.

If Daniel lost control completely

Everyone in this mansion could die.

Including him.

Raziel Realizes the Truth

Raziel studied the scene carefully.

His sharp eyes moved between Rachel and Daniel.

Then something clicked in his mind.

"Rachel," he said slowly.

"Yes?"

"You're the key."

Rachel blinked.

"What?"

Selene tilted her head with interest.

"Oh?"

Raziel stepped closer.

"The program didn't just enhance strength."

He gestured toward Daniel.

"It created connections."

Rachel didn't understand.

"What kind of connection?"

Raziel's voice dropped.

"Blood."

Rachel frowned.

"What does that mean?"

But then

Daniel suddenly screamed.

The entire hallway shook violently.

BOOOOM.

The floor cracked deeper.

Mercenaries stumbled backward again.

One of the chandeliers fell from the ceiling.

CRASH.

Rachel hugged Daniel tighter.

"Daniel stop!"

"I CAN'T!"

Tears streamed down his face.

"It hurts!"

Rachel felt her heart breaking.

And then something inside her snapped.

Rachel's Instinct

Without thinking

Rachel grabbed Daniel's face with both hands.

"LOOK AT ME."

Her voice echoed through the hall.

Strong.

Commanding.

Daniel's glowing eyes slowly focused on her.

"Rachel…"

"I'm here."

The moment their eyes locked

Something strange happened.

The air suddenly calmed.

The floating glass shards stopped spinning.

The violent shaking slowed.

Everyone in the room noticed immediately.

Selene's eyes widened slightly.

"Well…"

Lucien straightened up.

"That's new."

Rachel didn't understand what she was doing.

But she kept speaking softly.

"Daniel… breathe with me."

His chest heaved.

"I'm trying…"

Rachel pressed her forehead against his.

"Focus on my voice."

Another tremor passed through the floor.

But weaker.

Daniel's breathing slowly began to match hers.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

The violent pressure in the air began fading.

The floating debris gently dropped back to the ground.

Raziel watched closely.

His suspicion had just been confirmed.

The Bond

Selene whispered in awe.

"She can stabilize him."

Lucien laughed.

"Oh that is very useful."

Rachel ignored them completely.

Her world had narrowed to just Daniel.

"You're okay," she whispered.

"I've got you."

Daniel's glowing eyes slowly dimmed.

"I'm scared."

Rachel smiled gently despite everything.

"I know."

The last crack in the ceiling stopped spreading.

The mansion finally became still again.

Silence filled the hallway.

Even the mercenaries looked shocked.

Selene clapped slowly.

"Well done."

Rachel glared at her.

"Stay away from us."

Selene's smile only widened.

"Oh Rachel…"

"You have no idea how important you just became."

Rachel's stomach twisted.

"What do you mean?"

Selene stepped forward.

"You control him."

Rachel shook her head.

"No I don't."

Selene pointed at Daniel.

"You calm his power."

Her silver eyes gleamed.

"That makes you priceless."

Lucien nodded.

"Extremely priceless."

Raziel moved instantly in front of Rachel and Daniel.

"You're not taking either of them."

Selene laughed softly.

"Oh Raziel."

"You can't protect them forever."

The Terrifying Truth

Daniel looked up weakly.

"Rachel…"

"Yes?"

"I still hear people outside."

Rachel felt dread again.

"What people?"

"More soldiers."

Raziel's expression darkened.

Selene smiled slowly.

"Ah."

Lucien sighed.

"Right on schedule."

Rachel's voice trembled.

"What's going on?"

Raziel answered grimly.

"The people who created the program are here."

Rachel's blood ran cold.

"Why?"

Selene answered calmly.

"To clean up their mistake."

Rachel hugged Daniel tightly.

"What mistake?"

Selene's smile turned cruel.

"You."

Outside the Mansion

In the distance

Helicopters approached.

Black armored vehicles surrounded the estate.

Dozens of armed soldiers moved into position.

Snipers aimed at the mansion windows.

A voice spoke through a radio.

"Target confirmed."

"Proceed with elimination protocol."

Inside the mansion

Raziel heard the helicopters.

His eyes narrowed.

"We're out of time."

Rachel's heart pounded.

"What do we do?"

Raziel looked at her seriously.

"Survive."

Selene watched everything with amusement.

"Well."

She stretched her arms slightly.

"This just became more fun."

Lucien smirked.

"Let the real game begin."

Rachel tightened her grip on Daniel.

Because now she understood something terrifying.

Everyone wanted them.

The mercenaries.

Selene.

Lucien.

And now the people who created the program.

And none of them planned to let them leave alive.

The sound of helicopters grew louder.

THUMP.

THUMP.

THUMP.

The blades sliced through the night air as several military helicopters circled above the mansion.

Red lights flashed through the shattered windows.

Outside, armored vehicles surrounded the estate.

Dozens of soldiers moved into position.

Inside the mansion, the tension became suffocating.

Rachel tightened her grip around Daniel.

Her brother was still shaking slightly, but his breathing had finally slowed.

"Are you okay?" she whispered.

Daniel nodded weakly.

"I think so…"

But his voice carried fear.

Because he could still feel it.

The power inside him.

Waiting.

Watching.

Selene stood across the hall with a slow smile on her face.

"Well," she said lightly.

"Looks like the hunters have arrived."

Lucien sighed dramatically.

"And here I was just starting to enjoy myself."

Raziel's eyes moved toward Isabella.

"You knew this would happen."

It wasn't a question.

Isabella stood quietly in the shadows.

Her face calm.

But her eyes carried the weight of something old.

Something heavy.

Rachel looked at her mother again.

"Mom… please."

Her voice trembled.

"Tell me the truth."

The helicopters roared closer.

Spotlights suddenly cut through the broken windows.

Bright white beams filled the hall.

And outside

A loudspeaker crackled.

"THIS IS A GOVERNMENT STRIKE TEAM."

"EVERYONE INSIDE THE MANSION SURRENDER IMMEDIATELY."

Rachel's heart pounded.

Daniel grabbed her arm.

"Rachel… they're everywhere."

Raziel's voice was low.

"They're not here to arrest us."

Selene chuckled softly.

"No."

"They're here to erase us."

Rachel felt dread crawl through her chest.

"Erase?"

Lucien shrugged.

"When you create monsters…"

His grin widened.

"You usually clean up the evidence."

Rachel turned sharply toward her mother.

"WHAT PROGRAM?"

This time

Isabella finally stepped forward.

The spotlights from outside illuminated her face.

And for the first time…

Rachel saw guilt there.

Deep.

Unavoidable guilt.

The Beginning of the Program

Isabella's voice was quiet.

But every word carried weight.

"Twenty-five years ago…"

"The world's most powerful governments began a secret project."

Rachel listened carefully.

"They believed war was changing."

"Technology was advancing."

"But human soldiers were still fragile."

Selene smirked.

"Very fragile."

Isabella continued.

"So they funded research."

"To create enhanced humans."

Raziel crossed his arms.

"The program."

Isabella nodded slowly.

"Yes."

Rachel's stomach tightened.

"You mean… super soldiers?"

Lucien laughed.

"That's the marketing version."

Isabella's voice dropped.

"The real version was far worse."

Rachel's pulse quickened.

"How?"

Isabella looked directly at her.

"Because the experiments were done on children."

The words hit like a bullet.

Rachel froze.

"Children?"

Daniel tightened his grip on her arm.

Selene tilted her head.

"Ethics were never part of the budget."

Isabella continued.

"Children's brains are more adaptable."

"They survive genetic modification better."

Rachel felt sick.

"You experimented on kids?"

Her voice cracked.

Isabella didn't deny it.

"Yes."

Silence filled the room.

Even the mercenaries looked uneasy.

Raziel -The First Success

Isabella looked toward Raziel.

"He was one of the earliest subjects."

Rachel turned slowly.

Raziel didn't react.

He simply stared ahead.

Cold.

Controlled.

"He survived every stage of the program," Isabella said.

"Physical enhancement."

"Neural acceleration."

"Combat conditioning."

Lucien smirked.

"He was the golden boy."

Selene added quietly,

"The perfect weapon."

Rachel's chest tightened.

Raziel had never told her this.

Never told her he was once… an experiment.

Isabella continued.

"But the program created something else."

Rachel whispered,

"What?"

Isabella's eyes shifted to Selene.

"Failures."

Selene smiled slowly.

"My favorite category."

Isabella explained.

"Some subjects became unstable."

"Violent."

"Uncontrollable."

Lucien raised his hand playfully.

"Guilty."

Rachel's mind was spinning.

"So you created killers…"

Isabella nodded.

"Yes."

The Second Phase

"The program should have ended."

"But the governments wanted more."

Rachel swallowed.

"What more?"

"Control."

Isabella pointed at Daniel.

"They wanted to create a subject who could manipulate energy itself."

Rachel blinked.

"Energy?"

Daniel looked at his hands.

The faint silver glow had returned.

"They wanted a living weapon," Isabella said.

"One that could destroy armies."

Rachel's heart began racing.

"And that's Daniel?"

Isabella shook her head slowly.

"No."

Rachel frowned.

"Then who?"

Isabella looked at her.

"You."

Rachel felt like the floor vanished beneath her.

"What?"

Selene grinned widely.

"Oh yes."

"You were the final phase."

Rachel stepped backward slightly.

"That's impossible."

"You said Daniel

"Daniel was the key," Isabella interrupted.

Rachel's confusion deepened.

"What does that mean?"

Isabella finally revealed the darkest truth.

"Your powers only work when protecting him."

The room fell silent.

Rachel's breath caught.

"You were designed to protect the source."

Daniel whispered,

"Source…?"

Isabella nodded.

"You stabilize his power."

"You control it."

"You guide it."

Rachel realized something terrifying.

"So together…"

Isabella finished the sentence.

"You are the most dangerous weapon the program ever created."

The Terrifying Reality

Outside

Gunfire erupted suddenly.

Soldiers were moving toward the mansion.

Raziel looked toward the windows.

"They're coming in."

Selene sighed dramatically.

"Well that ruins the moment."

Lucien stretched lazily.

"Party's over."

Rachel stared at her mother.

"You turned us into weapons."

Tears formed in her eyes.

"Your own children."

Isabella's voice broke slightly.

"I tried to stop the program."

Rachel shook her head.

"But you didn't."

Daniel whispered,

"Rachel… are we monsters?"

Rachel pulled him close.

"No."

Her voice was firm.

"We're not."

But deep inside

She wasn't sure anymore.

The Final Warning

Isabella looked at Rachel urgently.

"Listen to me carefully."

Rachel hesitated.

"What?"

Isabella's eyes were filled with fear now.

"Those soldiers outside…"

"They're not coming to capture you."

"They're coming to kill you."

Raziel loaded his weapon again.

Selene cracked her knuckles.

Lucien grinned.

Daniel's power flickered again.

And Rachel realized something terrifying.

Everyone in this mansion was about to fight for survival.

Because the world had just discovered what she and Daniel were.

And the world didn't want them alive.
