Chapter 9 - Meeting familiar faces

She stared at the two women, her eyes filled with hatred. They ruined her life a year ago, and she can't wait to make them pay.

With a smile plastered on her face, she said, "It's fine, I will just take another plate." She turned and walked back to the table.

Soon, the two women joined her side by side.

"Um, I'm Mrs. Beatrice William, and this is my daughter, Janet," she began.

"Sorry to intrude, but who are you to Mr. Ramirez? We haven't seen him come to a party with a woman ever," she added.

"My mother is right, so you must be a special one," Janet said.

A hysterical laugh burst out of Daisy, which made people look in her direction.

The two women laughed nervously with her, trying to keep the attention away.

When Daisy was satisfied with her laughter, she looked them straight in the eye. Her stare was quite sharp, which made them take a step back subconsciously.

"And who the fuck do you think you are for asking me such questions? You must be sick in your head."

Their eyes widened in shock, which they immediately concealed.

"Um, we don't mean to disrespect you, ma'am. We are just trying to—"

Daisy interrupted them. "Enough. Your smelling mouths just ruined my appetite. Stay away from me, or you won't like what I will do to you," she said and walked away with the confidence of someone powerful.

A man across the room who had been staring at her smiled when he saw her walk away from the two women.

The smile increased when Daisy went to the hallway leading to the women's bathroom.

He then walked across the room to the hallway she followed. He got to the bathroom, looked both ways before he opened the door, and went in.

Daisy was adjusting her clothes in one of the toilets when she heard the door open and someone come in. She didn't think much of that, thinking that it was a woman who came in.

After she was done adjusting her clothes, she came out.

Her eyes widened in shock. Standing just beside the door was a man staring at her. He looked her up and down with undisguised lust.

Daisy smiled in her mind. She already knew what the man was doing in the bathroom.

She nodded at him and then proceeded to the wash basin to wash her hands.

The man scoffed at her. He must have thought she was trying to put on a strong act.

"Don't play hard to get, baby. Just give in, and we will both enjoy it."

Daisy flinched at the endearment, but she didn't comment. After she was done washing her hands, she wiped them with a napkin and then turned to the man.

"Don't you know that this is a female bathroom?" she asked calmly, holding his gaze.

"Drop the act, honey. Let's just do this and go back to the party," he said and took a step closer.

"I think you should stop and consider what you're about to do. You might not like what will happen," she warned.

The man scoffed. "I'm going to tear your little pussy, and you won't be able to do a thing about that," he said and then took three steps closer to Daisy.

He reached for her hands, but Daisy was faster. She stretched her leg and kicked him hard in the groin.

His strangled cry made a smile creep onto her face. The man fell to the floor, holding his groin.

"I told you that was a false move, but you didn't listen," Daisy drawled as she began to walk around the groaning man on the floor.

She came to where his legs were and stood staring down at him.

"Now you have to pay." A dangerous glint shone in her eyes.

Without warning, she raised her leg and kicked the man in the groin again and again, laughing hysterically as she did that.

The man kept screaming and calling for help, but no one came.

When Daisy had exhausted all her strength, she stopped and looked at the half-conscious man on the floor with a satisfied smirk.

"Next time, you will think twice before trying to molest a woman," she said.

"Oops, sorry. There won't be a next time. Your small penis must have been damaged," she added, then spat at him and walked out of the bathroom.

She saw a man standing just outside the bathroom.

"Boss is waiting for you outside," the man replied before she could talk.

"Okay, let's go," Daisy said and followed him.

They went into the party, and Daisy was surprised to find that it was already empty.

Did I spend that much time in there? she couldn't help but wonder.

The man led her out of the building to a car parked not quite far from there.

They reached the car, and he opened the back seat door for her.

Daisy got in and closed the door. She turned and saw Emilio staring at her with a knowing expression.

"What?" she asked.

"Did you have fun?" he asked.

"Yes, I did. Do you think I can take him back to the house? I would like to continue later," she asked.

"Not a chance."

"You can start driving, Andrew," Emilio said to the driver.

"I hope you enjoyed the party?" Emilio began again.

"Yes, it was so enjoyable that I didn't want it to end, but unfortunately it did. Please make sure that you invite me to parties like this. Kicking that man was the best part," Daisy replied.

Emilio studied her once again. When he had first met her, she was so innocent, untouched.

If she had been in such a situation then, he was sure she might have fallen victim, but the Daisy now was raw, powerful, and brave.

The prison changed her beyond recognition, so much that even people who knew her couldn't recognize her.

He recalled when one of his bodyguards, who was monitoring her at the party, reported to him that her stepmother and stepsister approached her.

Emilio had wanted to come back to the party, but his man told him that they didn't recognize her, so he relaxed.

He was going to give her revenge if that's what she wanted.

He stole a glance at her and saw that she was already asleep. For someone so guarded, she must have felt safe in his presence to be sleeping.

With that thought, Emilio took out his phone and began to check in with his underworld businesses.

A few minutes later,

Daisy jolted awake when the car stopped abruptly. She wiped her eyes and looked out of the window.

They had arrived at Emilio's mansion.

She turned and saw Emilio busy with his phone, his focus and concentration on it.

"You can go in. I will come right away," he said without looking at her.

"Okay."

Daisy got out of the car and walked to the entrance door.

The maids welcomed her and led her to her room, where she freshened up, got dressed, and was led to the dining room.

She was served many kinds of food that made her mouth water.

Without wasting any time, she took the cutlery and was about to dig in, but she frowned when she saw the maids standing not far from the table.

"Will you be joining me in eating?" she asked.

"No, ma'am," they chorused.

"So why are you still standing here? Do you want to watch me eat?" she demanded.

"No, ma'am, we can't do such. We are just standing here in case you need anything," one of them replied.

"Please get out, all of you," she ordered.

They didn't waste any time scurrying out of the room.

When the door closed after the last person went out, Daisy started eating the food like someone who had been starved for days.

This was the state Emilio saw her in when he came into the dining room.

He didn't comment on her eating. Instead, he dropped an envelope beside her.

"There's a card and a phone in there with my number saved. I will be gone for two days. Call me if you need anything," he said.

Daisy nodded since her mouth was full.

"Good night," he said and walked away.

When he was gone, she dropped her plate and opened the envelope.

Inside was a black limitless card and a brand-new phone of the latest model.

Wow, this is nice, she thought.

She switched the phone on and clicked on the contact list.

True to his word, his number was saved on the phone as "Boss."

"Boss? Does he think I'm one of his boys?" she scoffed as she edited the name to "The Proposal Guy."

"Much better," she muttered, staring at her masterpiece.

She kept the phone and card back into the envelope and continued eating.

Afterward, she came out of the room clutching the envelope in her hands.

She got to her room and went in.

She walked towards the vanity stand when she suddenly screamed.

Standing beside her bed was a maid who was waiting for her to come to her room.

"Ma'am, I'm—"

"Just get out," Daisy interrupted.

The maid rushed out of the room, still apologizing.

She kept the envelope on the vanity table and went to lock the door.

Then she came to the bed and lay down.
