Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: Steve's Villa

At noon, Hunter was carefully hiding on the branch of a large tree.

The motorcycle had already been put away into his private space!

Precisely because of the existence of the private space, Hunter had been able to tail Slater these past few days without being discovered.

Otherwise, with his current amateur tailing skills,

he probably would have been discovered long ago!

Raising his newly bought binoculars, Hunter pushed aside the branches in front of him.

He seriously observed a vehicle parked about twenty meters away.

That vehicle was the Dodge Ram 3500 Van that Hunter had personally modified back then.

There were at least two people sitting in the van, though there could be more.

The only thing Hunter could be sure of was that the master gold thief Charlie and Slater were both in that van right now.

They were currently observing a large villa dozens of meters away.

Unsurprisingly, that should be the villa Steve purchased in Los Angeles.

"Finally found it!"

Steve's villa was located northwest of Los Angeles, only about twenty kilometers away from the famous Hollywood.

This was the wealthy residential area of Los Angeles, no less than forty or fifty kilometers away from the busy downtown area.

However, it was nestled between the mountains and the water, overlooking the ocean to the west.

In terms of both environment and location, it ranked among the top five in the entire Los Angeles area and its surroundings.

As a result, there were many luxury villas here, most of which started at several million us dollars.

One had to keep in mind the body Hunter had possessed.

His predecessor's parents had worked hard for decades, and the house they bought was only worth about a hundred thousand us dollars.

However, the inheritance tax and property tax in the United States were quite high!

If the predecessor wanted to inherit that house, he would have to pay nearly seventy thousand us dollars in taxes.

So until now, Hunter had never even thought about paying the taxes to inherit the old, third-hand apartment of his predecessor's family.

If he had the money, he would just buy a new one; anyone who wanted that old one could have it.

Charlie and Slater observed Steve's villa for a while before leaving.

However, Hunter did not leave with them; instead, he stayed behind to continue his research.

"I finally know where Steve lives!"

"The next step is to find a way to get inside."

"And then take the gold out of the safe."

With his private space, Hunter wasn't actually worried about being unable to remove the gold from the safe in a short time.

He indeed didn't have Slater's Lockpicking skills, but the internal size of his private space was now comparable to half a room.

If he couldn't take the gold out directly, Hunter could just pack up the entire safe and take it away.

Afterward, he could take his time opening the safe.

He had tested it before; as long as his hand touched something, it could be directly collected into his private space.

This was why Hunter was confident he could steal the ill-gotten gains from Steve's hands.

What he needed to figure out as soon as possible was how to enter Steve's villa.

This was indeed a significant challenge!

Steve's villa was quite large, and because it was on the mountainside, the vegetation was very dense.

Therefore, the privacy of his villa was excellent.

There was at least one armed guard outside the villa, guarding it twenty-four hours a day.

The high walls surrounding it were topped with barbed wire and connected to high-voltage electricity.

Inside the villa, two highly alert bully breeds were kept.

Hunter didn't know yet if there were other guards inside the villa.

Furthermore, he didn't know if there were various surveillance cameras inside.

"What a vigilant guy."

"This must be to guard against Charlie and the others!"

Steve used to be a member of Charlie's team of gold thieves. Over a year ago, they had together robbed a ton of gold bars from the Italian Mafia.

He betrayed Charlie and the others and shot and killed John, the core member of the team and Slater's father.

At the time, because Charlie and the others had completely fallen into the lake, Steve only saw John's body floating to the surface in the end.

So, Steve probably suspected that Charlie and the others weren't dead.

Therefore, even though more than a year had passed...

He was still on guard against possible retaliation from Charlie and the others.

After Charlie and the others left, Hunter emerged from his hiding place and began to seriously study how to enter Steve's villa.

Charlie and his group had an entire team, so entering Steve's villa was fundamentally not difficult for them.

One of the team members, Lyle, was one of the top hackers.

With him taking action, paralyzing the entire Los Angeles traffic system would be a breeze.

Not to mention tapping Steve's phone and bypassing his home security system to enter Steve's villa.

The only thing they found troublesome was how to take out a ton of gold bars and escape Steve's pursuit.

And this was precisely what Hunter didn't need to worry about at all.

However, he didn't have his own team to support him.

So, how to break into Steve's villa and deal with possible guards became Hunter's biggest headache.

Fortunately, there's always a way!

After wandering back and forth around Steve's villa for several hours...

Finally, Hunter found a shortcut.

Steve's villa was located on a mountainside.

Most of his villa was enclosed by high walls connected to high-voltage electricity.

But in one particular section of the villa, there was no high wall.

Because that gap of about ten meters sat above a cliff that was forty or fifty meters high.

For this reason, Hunter specifically went to the bottom of the cliff.

Looking up, he could clearly see this cliff.

Except for a few spots with weeds, the rest of the area was almost completely barren.

It was a nearly vertical cliff, with an angle of about ninety degrees.

After going up this cliff, Steve's villa was less than twenty meters away.

And the two highly alert bully breeds Steve kept were let loose at the villa entrance, which was the gate that looked easiest to break through.

The distance from the gate to this side was over two hundred meters.

So, if one climbed up from this cliff...

It would be almost impossible to alert the guards at the gate or the two dogs.

The only uncertainty then would be the possible guards inside the villa and Steve himself.

It could be said that this cliff was the safest shortcut Hunter could find to Steve's villa!

The only possible trouble was how to climb this nearly vertical ninety-degree cliff.

Hunter felt he needed to study this carefully!
