Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: One Week

As a movie buff, Hunter recognized the white girl in front of him at first glance.

That charming face, although not yet fully matured...

...already showed a hint of the future Mighty Thor.

As their eyes met, Hunter saw a pair of short legs.

Swinging listlessly through the gaps in the wooden banister.

The white socks with cartoon patterns on her legs were particularly striking.

He wasn't a lolicon; though he was interested in the Mighty Thor that Matilda would transform into when she grew up.

But the current green sprout could only be described as cute at most.

"Hello!"

Hunter wasn't socially awkward, so he took the initiative to smile and nod at Matilda as a greeting.

Underage Matilda, though looking like a typical American rebellious girl because of her family...

...was still very polite in front of strangers.

"Hello, sir."

There was an unerasable sorrow in Matilda's eyes.

Her gaze lingered on Hunter's handsome face for a moment.

Then she hurriedly stubbed out and threw away the cigarette butt in her hand.

"Are you a new resident?"

Obviously, Matilda had noticed today that Apartment 6A, right next to their home, had a new occupant.

"Yes!"

Hunter smiled and nodded to her; his rented apartment building only had six floors.

Each floor had four units: A, B, C, and D.

Hunter was renting Apartment 6A, located on one side of the stairs.

Matilda's home should be 6C!

However, he couldn't be sure if Apartment 6D had already been rented to léon: the professional.

Unlike the current little sprout, Hunter was quite interested in Léon.

Not that he had turned gay.

On the contrary, Hunter's orientation was normal.

Recently, he had even become a bit addicted to very open and proactive Western women.

The reason he was interested in Léon was because he knew Léon was a hitman.

He had his own handler and could take on various assassination missions through him to earn generous rewards.

Many of Hunter's skills required a lot of money to trigger and upgrade.

Therefore, he didn't mind having another channel for income.

However, it probably wouldn't be that simple for Hunter to get his wish.

After all, being a hitman was a profession that truly walked in the gray area; one slip-up could cost a life.

And Léon was a hitman with a communication disorder.

So, entering the world of assassins through him wouldn't be easy.

Fortunately, Hunter wasn't in a hurry; after all, he wasn't ready yet.

After chatting with the little girl for a few moments, he bypassed Matilda and returned to his apartment.

The moment he closed the door, Hunter took a towel from his private space and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

It was already starting to get a bit hot in Los Angeles in May.

After simply wiping the sweat off his face, Hunter began preparing dinner for himself.

He wasn't shocked by the fact that a new plot had been triggered in his new apartment.

Because before, when he met the master thief Charlie...

...Hunter had already realized that this world wasn't just as he had originally guessed, only containing the fast & furious plot.

So this time, encountering a new plot character, he didn't care too much.

Of course, this might also be because the current Matilda was still too young.

Because he had purchased many ingredients and seasonings in Chinatown that suited the tastes of people from Huaxia.

The delicious food Hunter had been cooking lately tasted more and more authentic.

While chewing on the food, he skillfully searched for Slater Bridger's locksmith company on his newly bought laptop.

He hadn't found a new job yet, and it just so happened he had a Lockpicking Skill.

Hunter knew that by fumbling around on his own and constantly trying to open more complex locks, he would eventually level up his Lockpicking Skill.

But if he could get guidance from an expert, the efficiency of gaining experience would undoubtedly be much higher.

Hunter had already summarized this experience from training skills like Shooting and Boxing.

He found that practicing Shooting and Boxing on his own...

...compared to being at a professional Shooting or Boxing club with a coach...

...resulted in less experience and slower leveling.

Therefore, Hunter still planned to search for that Slater Bridger's locksmith company.

He intended to apply for a job to see if he could temporarily make a living at that blonde beauty's company.

And learn more professional Lockpicking techniques from her along the way.

That day, Hunter still hadn't received a call from the master thief Charlie by the time he went to bed.

However, Old Parker did take the initiative to contact Hunter.

He gave Hunter another side job: helping someone modify a car.

But perhaps because this illegal car modification was only for participating in underground racing...

...the pay wasn't high, only a mere two thousand dollars.

Early the next morning, Hunter left the apartment.

He spent the morning finishing the new job Old Parker had arranged for him.

After checking to ensure no surveillance had been installed...

...Hunter took advantage of the workshop to finish repainting his vintage motorcycle and installed all the new parts he had bought.

A high-performance street motorcycle, modified by his own hands, was born.

Before leaving, he didn't forget to give Old Parker a call.

Soon after, Hunter left as quietly as he had arrived.

In the afternoon, he went Swimming at the beach and then went for a run along the coastal highway.

Taking advantage of the fact that he didn't have a job recently, he now had plenty of time to level up his skills.

Over the next few days, Hunter lived in this dull and simple routine.

Old Parker didn't arrange any more side jobs for him, and Charlie, the golden thief, still hadn't contacted him.

In the blink of an eye, Hunter had been living in his new apartment for a week, but he hadn't run into Leon even once.

So he still couldn't be sure if that Italian hitman had already moved into the same apartment building.

He did, however, often run into Matilda and even chatted with her a few times.

He even invited her to his home for a meal of Xia Country cuisine, which received high praise.

And Matilda's stepmother, Maggie, also came to his door again one evening and chatted with Hunter for several hours.

Mia still hadn't come to see Hunter, to the point where he wasn't sure if Dominic still had her grounded or if there was some other reason.

Similarly, Hunter's investigation into Slate Brief still had no leads.

Apparently, this beautiful boss who ran a Lockpicking company in Los Angeles wasn't as high-profile as Hunter had imagined.

Time passed day by day like this.

However, although life was dull and monotonous, Hunter's mood remained quite good.

Because during this period, he had not only triggered several new skills,

But his physical attributes had also seen new boosts..
