After quickly disabling the three home invaders
Hunter strode over and stomped each man several more times
snapping an arm and a leg apiece.
Pretending to rummage in a cabinet, he drew a coil of rope from his private space and trussed them up.
He gagged their howls with strips torn from their own shirts.
Job done, he stepped outside.
Neighbors, drawn by the racket, vanished the instant they saw him.
He wasn't surprised; the old building housed mostly poor immigrants
and gang harassment was routine—some tenants were gangsters themselves.
He propped the shattered door shut against prying eyes
then went back for his phone.
Surveying the wreckage, he swallowed his anger and dialled Old Parker.
"Yeah?
Old Parker picked up at once. Hunter drew a slow breath
and said coldly
Parker, it's me.
Three of Dominic's guys just broke into my place.
I've subdued them—haven't called the cops yet.
On the other end, Old Parker fell silent.
After a long while, his voice rang out again: "I know what you mean. You did well."
"Don't call the police. I'm coming over right now."
"Rest assured, Dom isn't an unreasonable person."
"Besides, with Mia there, he'll give you an explanation."
Old Parker didn't chat much over the phone and hung up.
In less than half an hour, he arrived at Hunter's residence.
He looked at the broken door and the mess inside the house.
And the three people knocked down and tied up by Hunter.
Old Parker's mouth twitched, clearly not expecting that an inconspicuous Chinese-American repairman under him would have such good skills.
Hunter nodded to Old Parker, took a bottle of beer from the broken refrigerator, and tossed it to him.
Old Parker caught it but didn't open it.
He first walked closer and looked at the three tied-up men.
Soon, from the three men who were constantly twitching and struggling...
...Old Parker discovered the bruises on their bodies and their abnormal arms and hands.
His expression immediately turned even uglier.
"You broke their limbs?"
Old Parker knew that Dominic cherished his subordinates very much and always regarded them as brothers.
After Vince was injured by Hunter, the fact that he could refrain from retaliating was likely thanks to Mia.
Even if these three weren't sent by Dominic...
...the fact that they were injured by Hunter was an indisputable reality.
Given Dominic's temper, he feared that even Mia wouldn't be able to talk him out of it this time.
Hunter kicked the metal baseball bat on the ground and a folding dagger.
"These guys smashed open my door and barged in, wanting to cripple my arms and hands."
"If it weren't for Mia's sake, I would have just shot them dead."
"Pass a message to Dominic for me. My parents have passed away, and I have no other relatives."
"So, if someone really wants to hurt me, I won't hesitate to kill."
"I've already given Mia face twice; there won't be a third time."
Seeing Hunter pull out a pistol from nowhere, skillfully flick off the safety, and eject the magazine...
...Old Parker's face grew uglier and uglier. He hadn't expected to get mixed up in something like this.
He understood Hunter's threat and understood it perfectly.
The guy was just working for no reason when he was targeted by Vince, and even knocked unconscious in a sneak attack.
Mia had asked Old Parker about Hunter's address. Being an old fox, he guessed that after Mia took the initiative to see this Chinese kid...
...some things might have eventually happened between them, as they were in late adolescence with raging hormones.
As a result, news of this somehow reached Vince's ears.
The crude and ill-tempered Vince then asked Old Parker for Hunter's address to corner him.
Unfortunately, he was taught a harsh lesson by this inconspicuous Chinese kid.
Afterward, the guy even called an ambulance; he really was doing it for Mia's sake.
And just two days later, another three people barged into Hunter's residence, wanting to cripple his limbs.
If it were Old Parker, he felt he wouldn't be able to help himself from dealing a heavy blow either.
"I understand. Leave it to me!"
Old Parker still had a conscience; he knew that Hunter ending up in this terrible situation was partly his fault.
Before, he hadn't really cared much about Hunter.
So, when Vince asked Old Parker for the other's address earlier...
...Old Parker had given it to Vince without hesitation.
Thus, with things escalating, he also bore part of the responsibility.
After thinking it over, Old Parker said to Hunter, "I'll go talk to Dom and clear things up."
"As for my Repair shop, I doubt you can go back there."
"I'll give you thirty thousand us dollars later as compensation for a year's salary."
Hunter was short on money right now, so naturally, he wouldn't refuse.
He nodded and agreed, "Fine. I can't live here anymore either."
"I also need to buy a few more weapons for self-defense, and those cost money."
"Thanks, Parker!"
"My contact information won't change. If you need anything from me, just get in touch."
Old Parker: "Alright, you head out first. I'll handle the aftermath here!"
He understood the meaning behind Hunter's words and knew that his Repair and modification skills were indeed excellent.
Even if Dominic really despised him and wanted to cause trouble for him in the future...
...if there was any suitable freelance work, Old Parker would still contact Hunter and bring him along.
He saw Hunter just grab a few changes of clothes...
...and leave directly without hesitation!
Only after the footsteps faded away did Old Parker shake his head and remove the cloth strips stuffed in the mouths of Slant and the other two.
Then, he said to the three of them, who were too exhausted from pain to even curse, "You guys, you didn't even bother to ask around before provoking an enemy with an unknown background."
"Don't underestimate that Chinese kid. He's truly capable of doing what he just said."
"A person with no attachments or regrets is the most terrifying."
"You should be glad he let you go for Mia's sake."
"Otherwise, he really would have had killing intent just now."
After saying that, Old Parker first dialed 911 to call an ambulance.
Then, he dialed Dominic's number.
He prepared to resolve the conflict as soon as possible...
