Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: One Week

After finishing the disassembly, Hunter locked the warehouse door.

Following the instructions, he went around to the side door of the warehouse.

Through a crack in the window located over two meters high on the wall, he tossed the keys inside.

After completing all this, Hunter quickly got on his motorcycle and rushed back to his residence.

That night, Mia still didn't show up.

Hunter also realized there was a problem!

Their interactions over the past two days had made him realize something.

Mia, who was experiencing her first awakening of love and had been harassed by Vince for a long time,

seemed to have developed a considerable amount of goodwill towards him.

According to his plan, Mia should have come to see him very soon.

But having not come for several days in a row, it was obvious that something had gone wrong on her end.

Either she was temporarily grounded by Dominic, or there was something else going on.

For example, Dominic's team might be planning another operation.

In the blink of an eye, it had been some time since he traveled to the fast & furious world.

He just didn't know how much longer it would be before the plot officially began.

At the thought of this, Hunter felt that he might need to take the initiative to investigate.

And so, the next day when it was time for work,

Hunter drove Mia's car to the Repair shop.

As for his vintage motorcycle, it was stored in his private space.

With the awakening and upgrading of various skills, Hunter's private space had now increased to 15 cubic meters.

Carrying a vintage motorcycle with him was more than enough.

Because Hunter was the first to arrive at the Repair shop and didn't have a key, he waited there for over ten minutes.

Only then did he see Old Parker arrive, Driving an old model Bumblebee.

"Hey, Hunter."

"You're here quite early today!"

Old Parker had seen Hunter leaning against Mia's car from afar, so he rolled down the window and greeted him.

Quickly recognizing that the Honda belonged to Mia,

he said with some surprise, "This is Mia's car, why is it here?"

Hunter said, "She said the car occasionally fails to start, so I took a look and found some issues with the battery."

"By the way, Parker, do you have her home contact number?"

"I can let them know the car is fixed."

Nodding, Old Parker didn't think much of it.

After all, he had also heard about Dominic's subordinate Vince having a crush on Mia.

The last time Vince targeted Hunter was precisely because Mia had asked him to do some maintenance on her car.

Old Parker didn't think that after only knowing each other for a few days,

Hunter would have the ability to make Mia like him.

So he rummaged in the car for a while, found a business card, and tossed it to him.

"That's Dominic's number, you'd better contact them yourself."

"Keep the card. With your skills, you might be leaving my place soon."

"When that time comes, going to him will surely lead to a better future."

Old Parker's ambition had long since faded, and being older, he was quite open-minded.

He had already noticed Hunter's extraordinary qualities over the past few days, especially his rapidly advancing Repair skills.

It wasn't hard for him to see that his small shop wouldn't be able to keep Hunter in the future.

Seeing him take the business card, Old Parker seemed to remember something.

He pulled an envelope out of the car and handed it to Hunter.

"Here, your payment from yesterday."

"They were very satisfied with you, so Hunter, as long as you keep your mouth shut, there will definitely be more private jobs like this in the future."

Hunter took the envelope and opened it directly; he had recently gotten used to the straightforward ways of the Americans.

Upon opening it, he saw five franklins neatly arranged inside.

During this time, Hunter had actually noticed something.

A hundred us dollar bill didn't actually have a high circulation rate within the US.

People usually used small-denomination bills for daily shopping and expenses.

The most frequently used was the twenty us dollar bill.

As for large expenses, people generally used credit cards directly.

So if someone went out shopping and used only a hundred us dollar bill,

they would likely be given a few extra looks, as shopkeepers also worried about receiving counterfeit money.

Hunter didn't check if they were counterfeit; seeing the amount was correct, he put them away.

Since it was the first money he had earned after his transmigration,

Hunter was quite satisfied.

"Alright, Parker."

"In the future, if there's work, just come to me. I might not have other virtues, but my mouth is shut tight."

Just kidding, his predecessor didn't really have any friends.

As for Hunter, it had only been about ten days since he arrived.

The only people he was relatively familiar with were those at the Repair shop and Mia.

Even if Hunter wanted to find someone to brag to, he couldn't find a suitable target.

Seeing how sensible he was, a satisfied smile immediately appeared on Old Parker's face.

"Okay, I'll go open the door first."

"In a bit, use the Repair shop phone to notify Dominic's side to come pick up the car."

A day quickly passed like this.

In the morning, Hunter used the number Parker gave him to contact Dominic's side.

He didn't have Mia's contact information, so he could only reach out to Dominic.

As it turned out, before noon, someone came to drive the car away.

Two people came; Hunter didn't recognize the man.

The woman was Letty, Dominic's childhood friend and girlfriend.

She even entered the Repair shop and wandered around for a bit.

Hunter noticed that Letty's gaze fell on him several times.

However, she didn't stay too long; she took the car keys from Old Parker and then drove away.

Over the next week, Hunter's Repair skills advanced by leaps and bounds.

It even quickly reached Level 4.

Perhaps having discovered that Hunter could fix almost any car-related problem in the shop,

Old Parker arranged three more private jobs for Hunter during that week.

Two of them were also disassembly work for black market cars, each paying five hundred us dollars as well.

But the last one involved him and another veteran employee of the Repair shop performing illegal modifications on a car together.

And that time, Hunter received triple the usual payment.

It significantly eased his debt crisis.

But during this week, Mia didn't appear even once.

Not only did she not go to Hunter's residence, she didn't even come to the Repair shop.

However, Hunter also noticed that this week, the cars of Dominic and his subordinates were all sent to the Repair shop for comprehensive maintenance and Repairs.

He even discovered that all of their cars had received brand new paint jobs.

Realizing something, Hunter began to investigate secretly.

He started paying attention to the news and began buying various newspapers related to California and Los Angeles, trying to verify his suspicions.

In the process, Hunter even awakened another new skill called 'Intelligence Gathering'.

After a few days of being busily occupied, upon waking up early on a new day, Hunter saw a major news story in a California newspaper that had been delivered.

"Highway Bandits Reappear, Two Trucks Stolen, Losses May Exceed Six Million us dollars."

Hunter finally confirmed his suspicion.

Dominic and the others had made their move again...
