Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 : A Soul That Should Have Died.

"Doctor, the patient is losing blood. His heartbeat is weakening."

The voice struck Wu Xian like a hammer. He turned quickly, his sharp eyes scanning the monitor, whose lines were beginning to waver, as if the life force was being pulled from it by something invisible.

"Get a blood bag. Match it to his blood type. Quickly!"

The nurse swallowed hard. "N-no, Doctor. We've checked. His blood type is… rare."

"Impossible." Wu Xian chuckled. "This hospital has a stockpile for even the most extreme cases."

"Rh-null."

His voice almost broke. "We… don't have any."

Silence.

For a moment, the world seemed to stop spinning.

Wu Xian stared at the pale face. Cold. Too calm for someone dying.

"My blood type is Rh-null."

His tone was low, but absolute.

"Take my blood."

"Doctor—!"

"Do you hear me?!" Wu Xian turned slowly. He didn't hesitate as he said, "I'll donate. Now."

All the nurses gasped in shock. "But, Doctor… we don't know who his family is. There's no medical person in charge…"

"I'm in charge."

He didn't even blink. His voice was flat, firm, and unwavering.

"I'll cover the costs. I'll sign all the medical paperwork. If he dies, my name will be recorded as the family representative."

No one dared to object.

The nurses could only nod.

The transfusion was successful.

But the success was fragile, like a candle in the wind.

Xi Chen remained lying pale, his chest rising and falling erratically. Wu Xian hadn't left the bedside for a second. Since the man was brought in, he hadn't eaten. He hadn't slept. He just stood there, watching the monitor as if with his gaze alone he could force life to survive.

When finally, after only five minutes, his eyelids closed in exhaustion…

Xi Chen's body suddenly stiffened.

The monitor beeped for a long time.

Straight.

Then

It went out.

Wu Xian jolted awake. "No!"

He moved quickly, his trained hands working automatically. CPR, defibrillator, adrenaline. Once. Twice. Over and over.

"Doctor," one of the male nurses said, his voice trembling, "his heartbeat has stopped. We can't continue using the defibrillator. The risks are too high—"

"Shut up!" Wu Xian snapped.

"I know all the risks. And I'm prepared to bear them."

"But—"

"He must survive!"

The tone froze the room. No one dared to interrupt again.

Time ticked by cruelly.

Fifty-nine minutes.

No response.

No miracle.

Xi Chen's skin began to lose its warmth. The body… was completely dead.

"Doctor…" the female nurse's voice trembled, almost crying.

"We've done everything. Medically… he's dead."

"No." Wu Xian shook his head slowly, his eyes red, his breathing heavy.

"He's still alive. I'm sure of it."

He took off his gloves. He leaned closer.

He cupped Xi Chen's face with both hands as if to hold something back.

"There's still one last resort…"

"Doctor!" The nurse glared in shock. "That's not part of the procedure!"

"I don't care."

Wu Xian lowered his head.

His lips touched Xi Chen's.

Not lust

Not desire

Just a desperate gasp, filled with the insane belief that life could still be reclaimed.

But at the same time…

Wang Ji woke up.

Xi Chen's alter ego, the dark soul that had never slept to begin with, now opened its eyes in the depths of consciousness.

And for Wang Ji, that touch wasn't salvation.

It was a claim.

"You kiss me,

Then you are mine."

Between kisses and forced breaths, Xi Chen's soul, trapped in tragic memories of the past, was slowly pulled out of the abyss.

The monitor beeped again.

Slowly.

Then again.

His heartbeat resumed.

Wu Xian staggered, nearly falling to his knees. His breath hitched, a mixture of relief and something he couldn't explain.

But he didn't know...

that since that night, he hadn't just saved a life.

Instead, he'd bound himself to something far darker, more possessive, and he would never let go.
