Chapter 62 - Chapter 62 Hermione's Loss, Can I Learn from You?

"Lucien, is the method you used to create that mechanical dog Alchemy?"

Hagrid and the four young Wizards sat around the dining table, enjoying dinner.

Hermione suddenly asked Lucien, who swallowed the beef brisket in his mouth,

"I used some Alchemy techniques."

Hermione nodded, but then frowned in confusion,

"But I remember that Alchemy is only an elective in the sixth year."

"In the library, I only saw a very few Alchemy books, and most of them were popular science introductions. Lucien, your family wouldn't have magic books on this subject, would they?"

Hermione, of course, remembered that Lucien, like herself, came from a Muggle family, so what she was more curious about was not that Lucien actually knew Alchemy, but where he learned it.

Lucien found Hermione's reaction and curiosity very normal.

This young girl, nicknamed Miss Know-It-All, was also a top student, and her interest in knowledge was completely understandable.

His sources of Alchemy knowledge primarily came from the Hogwarts library's Restricted Section, the Potter Family's magic books, and his analysis of the Transfiguration pocket watch.

Hmm, none of these were easy to explain to Hermione.

The Transfiguration pocket watch involved the system, and the magic books belonged to Harry's family, which he acquired through tutoring exchanges, so they couldn't be shared.

As for the books in the Restricted Section, they were approved for him by old Dumbledore.

Hermione was eager to learn, but it was a bit too early for her to delve into Alchemy in her first year; building a solid foundation was more important.

"Headmaster Dumbledore recommended a few books to me, and they included information related to Alchemy."

Upon hearing this, Hermione understood Lucien's meaning.

Those books must have been approved by the Principal and couldn't be lent out to others casually, otherwise Lucien would have asked her if she wanted to borrow them.

The little Witch sighed helplessly, picking up a piece of potato stewed with beef brisket in disappointment,

"Lucien, you are indeed amazing. You haven't been enrolled for long and you can already borrow books from the Principal."

"Whether it's Charms, Potions, Transfiguration, or even Herbology, you're excellent at everything, and even the food you cook is so delicious!"

Lucien put down his chopsticks—he still preferred using them for Chinese food rather than a knife and fork—wiped his mouth,

"Cooking is also a form of knowledge, isn't it?"

"Right! Lucien, the food you make is really good!"

Ron's cheeks were puffed up like a hamster's, one hand giving Lucien a thumbs-up, the other rapidly forking food into his mouth.

A piece of beef brisket, a piece of stir-fried chicken, a piece of steamed fish…

Seeing Ron's exaggerated, ravenous eating, Hermione showed a slightly disgusted look, though she thought Ron's assessment was spot-on.

Hermione also forked another piece of potato; if she was any slower, Ron and Harry would have eaten them all. It had to be said that in the potato and beef brisket stew, the potatoes tasted even richer.

Hagrid was mainly consuming his own cooking, occasionally eating some of Lucien's. Although his own dishes didn't seem as popular, seeing the young Wizards enjoying their meal made him happy.

"Lucien, your cooking methods aren't from around here, are they?"

"Hmm, they are all Eastern cooking methods. It seems the taste is still quite good."

Seeing the three little ones devouring the food, Lucien felt that Eastern cuisine might also have an audience at Hogwarts.

Perhaps he could find an opportunity to talk to the House-elves and ask if these dishes could be added to the dining hall menu.

This would also make it convenient for him to eat the taste of his hometown anytime.

After dinner, Lucien walked over to the mechanical dog and began to debug the operation of some mechanisms.

He had still found some minor flaws earlier.

Lucien disassembled and reassembled the mechanical dog's parts, finely adjusting its shape with his magic wand, trying repeatedly.

At first, Hagrid and the others gathered around, observing curiously.

But after seeing the complex mechanical structures, their excitement quickly faded.

Hagrid went to clear the dishes, Harry went to recite Potion knowledge, and Hermione found a corner to read a book.

Only Ron remained, squatting beside Lucien.

He watched with great interest as Lucien disassembled and assembled the mechanical dog, his eyes slightly gleaming as he stared at the gears and bearings.

Lucien didn't pay much attention, thinking that the boy was simply interested in this kind of mechanical assembly.

While repairing the mechanical dog, Lucien pondered his future plans.

The Transfiguration knowledge in the Chimera Transformation Manual was enough to study for a long time; at least until transforming living things into living things, he wouldn't have to worry. The next step would be the highest skill in Transfiguration, Animagus.

At that time, he would definitely need to seek guidance from Professor McGonagall, and ideally, she could help supervise his attempts. However, Professor McGonagall should agree.

As long as he displayed more Transfiguration mastery and became proficient in other Transfiguration knowledge.

He needed to go to the Forbidden Forest one more time, record the last type of magical creature, and then he could repay the pet growth loan.

Hmm, it would be best to find a Unicorn again; even if he couldn't record all the information, sending it to Newt would add a lot of credibility.

Then came the refining of an Undetectable Extension Charm container large enough to hold living creatures.

Newt's last reply had basically helped him complete the final missing pieces, and he could already attempt this.

Lucien closed the mechanical dog's outer casing, completing the final adjustments.

He then thought that he could go see Quirrell this week for his first individual tutoring session.

He had already read a little over half of "The Identification of Dark Arts," and he aimed to finish it before the tutoring, at least familiarizing himself with the sections that could affect and control the mind and body, or involve poisoning and curses.

After the tutoring, he would go directly to Dumbledore for an afternoon tea, allowing old Dumbledore a chance to check him and rule out any potential lingering Dark Arts attachments.

Lucien collected his thoughts, restarted the mechanical dog, and sent it off to play with Fang.

Stepping out of the cabin, Lucien fertilized the Biting Cabbages and drove away some pests like Flobberworms.

He glanced at the almost empty bag of Mooncalf dung.

Perfect, he would look for Mooncalves and collect some more when he went to the Forbidden Forest.

Once he refined the Undetectable Extension Charm container and could house living creatures, he would raise some Mooncalves.

That way, the fertilizer source would be more stable, and he wouldn't have to specially search for it every now and then.

Hmm, he should also ask Newt about the care of these magical creatures when writing to him.

Perhaps he could also open up some fields inside the Undetectable Extension Charm container, but he didn't know what kind of magic would be needed to solve the issues of sunlight and other factors.

He would ask Newt about it all in the letter.

Just as Lucien was about to set off for the Forbidden Forest, a voice sounded behind him:

"Lucien, can I learn from you how to make those mechanical animals?"
