Chapter 4 - Tony's Visit

If Gwen had no bottom line, she could easily earn money using her extraordinary powers.

But the identity of Spider-Man held extraordinary significance for Gwen, and she didn't want to bring shame to that identity. It would be a betrayal of a deceased friend and a failure of her father's trust.

In her Universe, Spider-Man was a symbol of courage and justice. In this Universe, it should be the same.

"Of course, Gwen."

Lucas readily agreed and suggested, "However, if you haven't found a place yet, why don't you move in with me for now?"

"It's on the seventh floor of the bookstore. There are a few empty rooms, just pick one."

"Thank you so much, Lucas." Gwen immediately smiled.

Knock! Knock!

"Hello, may I come in?" A gentle voice sounded.

Click.

"Please come in."

Before Lucas finished speaking, the door to the lounge was opened.

A mustached man in sunglasses and a suit walked straight in. Following him was a tall blonde woman with a single ponytail and a plump man in a suit.

"Tony Stark."

After Tony entered, he introduced himself while making himself comfortable on the sofa. Clearly, he didn't have a habit of shaking hands.

"The fabric of this sofa is mediocre, breathability and touch are not good, the color..."

"Tony!" The woman called out to Tony, signaling him to stop talking.

"Hello, I'm Pepper Potts, Tony's personal assistant."

Pepper smiled, introduced herself, and extended her hand in a friendly gesture.

The man in the suit walked behind Tony and stood, maintaining a cool expression, silent throughout.

"Lucas."

"Gwen Stacy."

They were here for Gwen.

The moment he saw Tony, Lucas roughly understood what was happening.

Most likely, Gwen wasn't careful when she left last night and was caught on a camera.

But why didn't S.H.I.E.L.D. show up? Did Tony have Jarvis intercept the data?

Although a bit puzzled, Lucas didn't dwell on it.

Entertaining guests was more important.

"Mr. Stark, Miss Potts, and this bodyguard sir, would you like a drink? Coffee or tea?"

Tony asked, "Do you have alcohol?"

Lucas smiled slightly and shook his head. "No."

"Then no need."

Pepper interjected in time, "Coffee, please."

Lucas gave an embarrassed smile. "I'm sorry, we don't have that either."

"..."

"Tea, then." Pepper smiled helplessly.

"Alright, Miss Potts, please wait a moment. I'll go out and buy some tea leaves now."

With that, Lucas left the lounge, closed the door, and sat down at the bookstore's front desk.

Buy tea? What kind of tea?

Lucas was just looking for an excuse to leave.

Tony and his group were clearly here for Gwen. He didn't want to shamelessly stay inside and then be asked to leave.

As for what Tony and the othere would talk about with Gwen?

It was just a door, it couldn't block the hearing of 100 Perception.

"Is he always this 'humorous'?"

As soon as Lucas left, Tony couldn't help but complain, putting emphasis on 'humorous'.

"I'm not familiar with him, we just met."

Gwen was also amused by Lucas's behavior just now and quickly distanced herself. For a moment, the air was filled with a joyful atmosphere.

Pepper was the first to regain her composure and went straight to the point. "Miss Stacy, we are here about last night. Thank you for saving Tony and me."

Gwen waved her hand nonchalantly, not caring. "It's what Ghost-Spider should do."

Tony said, "Ghost-Spider? Is that your nickname? I thought it was Pajama Baby."

"Tony!"

Pepper once again stopped Tony's teasing.

"Ghost-Spider, as agile as a ghost? It suits you, Miss Stacy."

Gwen smiled.

The symbolism of Ghost-Spider was more than that, but she didn't intend to explain.

"Even if you hadn't intervened, I had a way to deal with that big guy. As altitude increases, air pressure decreases, and temperature also drops."

"My Mark 3 is modified for low temperatures, that big guy isn't. I just need to take him into the sky, and his armor will freeze."

"Tony!"

Pepper rubbed her forehead. It seemed her boss's stubborn nature wouldn't change. He had clearly agreed to come and thank her, but as soon as they arrived, he...

Gwen thought for a moment and nodded. "That's true."

Tony glanced at Pepper triumphantly, then looked at Gwen, slightly arrogant yet sincere. "Anyway, you helped us a lot last night. You can make a wish, any condition, it can be fulfilled."

Gwen looked at Tony and said seriously, "I helped you not for a reward."

Pepper said, "Miss Stacy, economists believe that doing good deeds is a behavior that promotes human welfare, and such behavior must be encouraged."

"Only by encouraging those who do good deeds can social welfare be improved."

"I know you helped Tony out of kindness, justice, courage, and other good qualities, but not everyone possesses your qualities."

"If helping others cannot be rewarded, then most people will not do good."

Gwen said, "But I don't have any wishes to fulfill right now."

Gwen's only wish at the moment was to return to her Universe. She didn't think Tony could help her achieve this wish, so there was no need to mention it and make things difficult for Tony and Pepper.

"Then contact me or Pepper when you've thought about it." Tony decided.

"We also have a small gift for you, Miss Stacy." Pepper added.

After discussing business, Pepper and Gwen gradually shifted to casual conversation.

Knock. Knock.

"Miss Potts, your tea has arrived."

"Please come in, Mr. Lucas."

"Green tea, light ice, three-quarters sugar, please enjoy."

Lucas, acting like a waiter, brought Pepper the green tea he had just bought from the neighboring milk tea shop.

"Thank you."

Pepper's eye twitched. Although she knew Lucas had deliberately left to give them space, this was too perfunctory.

A moment later, Pepper suggested they leave.

"Mr. Lucas, we're leaving now. We won't bother you anymore."

"Alright, goodbye." x2

"Goodbye, Mr. Lucas."

"Goodbye, Miss Stacy."

Watching Tony and Pepper drive away, Lucas turned to Gwen. "Let's go. It's mealtime, we should go eat too."

Gwen looked at Lucas in surprise. She thought he would ask her what she had just talked about with Tony and Pepper.

"Aren't you going to ask what we just talked about?"

"Why ask about something I can guess?"

I heard everything clearly outside, why would I need to ask?

"Has someone told you that men shouldn't be so smart?"

"Yes."

"Who?"

"You."
