Chapter 4 - chapter four

CHAPTER FOUR Of the Luna they tried to kill

Trisha's POV

I couldn't dispute the fact that Evermore Academy was breathtaking.

No, breathtaking.didn't even begin to cover it.

Every human school I had ever seen suddenly felt dull and lifeless in comparison. The towering gothic buildings, the glowing lanterns that seemed to float without strings, the air itself humming with something ancient, it all made my heart race with a strange mix of excitement and unease.

I smiled to myself as I followed the hall signs until I finally stood before a massive double door.

DIVA HALL, it read boldly.

"Well," I muttered, "here goes nothing."

I pushed the door open.

Big mistake.

"Yuck!" I blurted, immediately turning my face away.

"Hey!" a girl's sharp voice snapped. "How dare you enter my room without knocking?"

"I'm sorry," I said calmly, still facing the wall. "I was told this is my room."

"So?" she cut in rudely. "Does that suddenly mean you don't have manners?"

I slowly turned around then, and instantly regretted it.

Two half dressed bodies scrambled apart on one of the beds.

"Well," I said dryly, irritation creeping into my voice, "I didn't think my first day at Evermore Academy would include witnessing a sex scene in a dormitory."

"Just save it," my supposed roommate snapped. She turned to the boy beside her. "Kelvin, you can go."

We stood in an awkward silence as Kelvin grabbed his jacket and walked out, his eyes never once meeting mine.

"Well, sorry about that," the girl finally said, suddenly sheepish. She adjusted her clothes and walked toward me, extending her hand. "I'm Ayla, and you are?"

"Trisha," I replied nonchalantly, shaking her hand.

"Oh!" Ayla's face lit up. "That's right, a box arrived earlier with your name on it."

"A box?" I asked, genuinely surprised.

"Of course," she said, already walking toward a neatly wrapped package by the wall.

"But I didn't come with a box," I said slowly, disbelief lacing my tone.

She laughed softly. "Be calm, my love. This is Evermore Academy, where things go far beyond your imagination."

"And what exactly do you mean by that?" I asked.

"Well," she explained, "once a student becomes Evermore's candidate, the academy knows everything about them, their profile, preferences, even their hidden nature. They send items that perfectly suit the student the moment they're sure the person is resuming here."

"Wow," I breathed. "Sounds intriguing."

"Very intriguing," Ayla agreed. "Come on, let's see what they sent you."

We unwrapped the box together, and to my greatest surprise, every single item screamed me. The clothes, the colours, even the jewelry.

They knew my taste.

I wasn't even shocked anymore, not after all the strange things I had already witnessed since arriving.

"I hope you like them?" Ayla asked.

I shot her a playful look. "Are you kidding? Babe, I love them. They guessed my favourite perfectly."

She smiled warmly. "Then welcome once again to Evermore Academy, a school meant for outcasts of all kinds."

"Thanks, Ayla," I said, turning toward her.

She froze.

"Oh my God!" Ayla suddenly screamed, stepping back in shock.

I frowned. "Did I say something wrong?"

"No Trisha," she whispered, eyes glued to my face. "You look like Sapphire, I mean Queen Sapphire."

"What?" I blinked. "You're not making sense."

"At first, I noticed the resemblance but brushed it aside," she continued. "But that necklace," She pointed at the pendant around my neck a silver S. "That confirmed it."

"Ayla, you're speaking in riddles," I said, my heart beginning to pound. "Who is Queen Sapphire?"

"Come with me," she said quietly.

I didn't hesitate. Something deep inside me knew Evermore held answers I could never find in the human world.

-------------------------

The place she led me to was very dark.

"Where are we?" I whispered as we stepped inside.

"The Evermore Ancient Library," Ayla replied. "It holds secrets older than centuries."

She slid beneath a tiny door I could've sworn wasn't there a second ago.

"How did we?" I began.

"Surprised?" she asked, smiling.

"Kinda," I admitted, scratching my head.

"There," she said, pointing at a large portrait hanging on the wall.

My breath hitched.

A woman stood proudly beside a powerful man, her arm protectively wrapped around a small child.

"This," Ayla said softly, "is Queen Sapphire and her daughter."

My heart thudded violently.

"Coincidentally named Trisha," she added.

I felt dizzy.

"Her husband was Alpha Daven, one of the greatest Alphas who ever lived. They found love here in Evermore. Sapphire was a Luna."

"I thought you said Queen," I interrupted.

"My bad," Ayla smiled sadly. "They mean the same thing here. In our world, the Alpha is king, the strongest, the leader. The Luna is his queen. We also have Betas, Omegas, sirens, werewolves, and more."

"That's interesting," I murmured.

"Very," she continued. "Alpha Daven's pack grew rapidly, attracting envy from smaller packs. They joined forces and invaded their pack, and that was the end."

"They found the bodies of Alpha Daven and his wife, but baby Trisha was never found."

I stared at the portrait, my fingers trembling as they brushed my necklace.

Her pendant looked exactly like mine.

"Could it be that I am...."

"Who's there?" a voice shouted. "Freeze right now!"

Chains suddenly appeared out of nowhere, binding us tightly.

Faces emerged from the shadows.

I recognized two immediately....Xavier, the boy who escorted me earlier, and Kelvin.

"Kelvin?" Ayla screamed. "What are you doing here?"

"Ayla," he said quietly, eyes downcast, "you shouldn't wander around this place."

"Ayla and your new roommate," a girl sneered. "You're lucky we're in a good mood. Otherwise, you'd regret stepping into the Secret Luna Society."

"What?" Ayla gasped.

"So it's true?" she cried, turning to Kelvin. "You're part of this society? Tell me Kiara is lying."

"Calm down," Kelvin muttered.

"Hey, jackhole!" I shouted. "Get these chains off us right now!"

"Quiet, you grumpy girl," Xavier said, snapping his fingers. A spark flew and the chains fell.

"I knew you'd be trouble," he whispered to me.

Kelvin avoided Ayla's gaze as she sobbed into my arms.

"Just be quiet, you nosy werewolf," Kiara sneered. "I told Kelvin you weren't good enough for him."

I stepped forward. "Watch your mouth."

"Or what?" she barked.

"Or you'll regret it," I said coldly.

Grabbing Ayla's hand, I dragged her out.

Evermore Academy was just getting started.

And I could already feel it..

My destiny was waking up

"Trisha," Ayla called out the moment we stepped into our dormitory.

"Yes?" I replied, trying to freshen up.

"What gave you the courage to speak to Kiara like that? Nobody ever dares."

I shrugged. "I don't know, it just happened."

Then I smirked. "Besides, if Alpha Daven and Queen Sapphire are truly my parents, then I probably have a lot of hidden powers."

Ayla's eyes widened, but I just smiled to myself.

Evermore Academy is about to get interesting.

Let the fun begin.
