Chapter 57 - Chapter 57 Nick Fury's Suspicion

Hearing Nick Fury's commanding tone, Tony pursed his lips, poured himself a drink, and couldn't help but reply with a hint of sarcasm:

"Then I won't trouble you all. I've already decided to hold a press conference tomorrow to officially announce my identity as Iron Man.

If you have the energy, you should quickly investigate your own S.H.I.E.L.D. I heard that more than half of your organization's high-ranking officials have already become HYDRA Agents. Your S.H.I.I.E.L.D. can soon be renamed Snake-Shield."

After returning from the kidnapping incident, Tony Stark changed a lot. He realized the mistakes he and Stark Industries had made in the past and developed a strong sense of social responsibility.

Especially later, when he created the Iron Man Suit and personally wore it to deal with the Terrorists, this sense of responsibility was greatly amplified.

Just as the news now says, Iron Man is a true superhero, and he believes it himself.

However, this does not mean that his personality and habits have changed much. He still likes beautiful women, is still very sharp-tongued, and still likes to show off.

So he wondered why he should hide his Iron Man identity.

He was doing good deeds, not committing crimes. More importantly, he was Tony Stark; who was he afraid of? Those incompetent government officials?

Of course not.

He was originally considering this matter, but with Nick Fury's interference, he decided to hold a press conference tomorrow to announce it. That's how willful he was.

"What did you say?"

Hearing Tony's words, Nick Fury's voice instantly rose several octaves, and his expression immediately became serious.

He was not surprised that Tony was holding a press conference tomorrow, as this was already anticipated in their analysis of Tony's personality; it was only a matter of time.

What he truly cared about was the intelligence Tony revealed about S.H.I.E.L.D. being infiltrated by HYDRA Agents.

But it was impossible. HYDRA had already been annihilated during World War II. Yet, according to the analysis of Tony's micro-expressions, he clearly wasn't joking.

"I said for you to get out, leave my house, get out, do you understand?"

Tony pointed to the door, his tone already very impatient.

Nick Fury gave him the same feeling as the government officials he dealt with. They all had a domineering desire to control everything and everyone, and Tony Stark didn't fall for that.

"Where did you get this information about S.H.I.E.L.D.'s high-ranking officials being infiltrated by HYDRA, Tony? This concerns the safety of the entire Earth; it's not a small matter. I hope you're not joking with me."

Given that it concerned HYDRA, how could Nick Fury give up so easily? To avoid annoying Tony, his tone became more amiable.

Tony was also someone who responded well to gentleness but not to harshness. Seeing this, he hesitated and said:

"That's the information I got. I don't know the specifics, but it's definitely not a lie. Go back and check it out yourself. That's all."

After speaking, he made a shooing gesture.

This time, Nick Fury said nothing more, only leaving Tony's mansion with a solemn expression.

Washington, S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters, Triskelion, Director's Office.

Nick Fury sat in his chair, looking at the data he had organized throughout the night, and murmured:

"I didn't expect there to really be a problem!"

He had nine-tenths disbelief about Tony Stark's words. If most of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s high-ranking officials, which he had controlled for so many years, were HYDRA Agents,

Then wouldn't he truly become a laughingstock?

But even with one-tenth belief, with his personality, he absolutely could not let it go.

So, after rushing back to Headquarters overnight yesterday, he didn't notify anyone. He quietly used his authority to conduct an in-depth analysis of all of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s missions and data over the years.

He didn't use computers or any high-tech products that could leave traces; he relied solely on his abilities and intuition as a top Agent.

He had to assume that more than half of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s high-ranking officials had indeed been infiltrated by HYDRA Agents and analyze the data with that premise to find flaws.

One could only say that to become the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury's capabilities as an Agent were strong enough. After a night of analysis, he truly found many suspicious points.

Under normal circumstances, as the Director, these suspicious points would never have come to his attention. And even if he had discovered them, without connecting them to HYDRA, he might have only considered them as oversights in how some high-ranking officials handled matters.

"When exactly did this start? How many people have already betrayed us? Who else can be trusted? Most importantly, how did Tony Stark know this information?"

Nick Fury's mind was now full of questions.

After thinking for a while, he again used his authority to retrieve data, but this time he retrieved all the data on Tony from before his kidnapping to the present.

He had actually been paying attention to Tony Stark, the son of S.H.I.E.L.D. founder Howard Stark.

He could confirm that Tony had no knowledge of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s existence before he was kidnapped. Therefore, it could be inferred that during and after the kidnapping, he learned this information from someone he encountered.

After carefully reviewing all of Tony's itinerary records after his return from the kidnapping, he quickly found some clues:

"Li's Group, Li Chuan, there's a problem!"

A company that had just come from Sokovia and had never cooperated with Stark Industries before.

As soon as Tony returned from the kidnapping, he immediately visited them in person and quickly engaged in in-depth cooperation, or rather, unilateral strong support, which simply did not make sense.

Moreover, Professor Ethan, who escaped with Tony, also joined this group.

After finding the suspicious point, he immediately used his Director's authority to retrieve all of Li Chuan's information at the fastest speed.

Because Li Chuan came from Sokovia, a small, unknown country in Eastern Europe, and was not a key target of interest, even S.H.I.E.L.D. would not have too detailed information about him.

From the surface information, he appeared to be a very caring and legitimate businessman who had done a lot of charity in Sokovia and was deeply beloved by the local people of Sokovia.

The medicines he produced and sold were exceptionally effective and cheap. Oh, even S.H.I.E.L.D. had purchased quite a bit.

After all, the effects of the three pills could all come in handy for Agents during missions.

"There can't be such a perfect person in this World. The more perfect, the more problematic."

Based solely on the surface information, Li Chuan was undoubtedly a perfect businessman, and he was only twenty years old. But precisely because of this, he was even more suspicious that Li Chuan was problematic.

"Have Agent Natasha Romanoff come to my office!"

After thinking for a moment, Nick Fury pressed the communication button on his desk.
