"Three brothers! We have lost three brothers! Dumbledore, you must give me a reasonable explanation today no matter what! We are not like those ordinary mules who are slaughtered at will without any power to resist; we will never tolerate you hateful humans slaughtering us indiscriminately!"
A tall and powerful Centaur rushed towards Dumbledore and the others like a black hurricane.
This Centaur had deep black hair and a beard, and from his waist down was a shiny, jet-black horse body, with a long tail trailing behind him.
With every angry stomp of his hooves, the ground seemed to tremble.
Surprisingly, the moment the black-haired Centaur saw Adelaide, a flash of astonishment suddenly crossed his wide, anger-filled eyes.
His originally violent steps unconsciously became gentle, and he muttered to himself, "A spiritual little foal... she is like the darling of the forest and the starry sky..."
The other Centaurs following the black-haired Centaur also slowed down and quickly gathered together, beginning to whisper and discuss in low voices.
Standing to the side, Dumbledore, with his years of experience and keen insight, immediately noticed the subtle shift in the Centaurs' attitude.
His eyes, deep as the sea, flickered slightly, and he took a small step back imperceptibly, leaving Adelaide's entire figure fully exposed to the Centaurs' sight.
Meanwhile, while the Centaurs were still unaware, Dumbledore gave Adelaide a subtle wink, seemingly conveying some sort of message.
Adelaide understood immediately. She shrank into Amandine's arms, her eyes half-closed and her lips trembling slightly. She looked as if she might faint at any moment, her extremely weak and life-threatening appearance truly evoking pity.
Standing nearby, Dumbledore had a face full of worry, his wise and deep eyes revealing endless sorrow and helplessness.
Dumbledore said to the Centaur in a heavy tone, "Mr. Bane, I am very sorry, but the tragedy that occurred today was not our intention—that ill-intentioned villain not only attacked the Centaurs but also nearly took the life of one of our school's students."
Hearing this, Bane, who was already emotional, became even more furious.
He widened his bell-like eyes and roared in disbelief, "What! He even attempted to murder this innocent little foal? This is defying the will of heaven!"
As his emotions grew more intense, the other Centaurs also became uneasy, and they all raised their heads to gaze intently at the night sky.
"That's right... Jupiter is dim tonight, while Saturn is exceptionally bright!"
Bane panted heavily while restlessly stomping the ground.
With a crisp "crack," Adelaide caught a glimpse out of the corner of her eye that the Centaur had actually crushed a small stone beneath his hoof into two halves.
Hiss~
If that heavy, powerful hoof were to step on a person, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Bane suppressed the resentment in his heart and declared solemnly, "We Centaurs will hold this forest, but this is by no means to assist humans; it is only to follow the will of heaven and protect our own safety and interests!"
Dumbledore said solemnly to Bane, "Thank you for making the right decision. I praise the Centaurs for their generosity and selflessness!"
Bane said nothing more, only cast another glance at the weak Adelaide before turning and leading his people back into the Forbidden Forest.
Professor McGonagall arrived in a hurry, carrying Alice, who was tightly wrapped in a thick cloak and still unconscious.
She asked, panting, "Albus, what should we do next?"
At this moment, Dumbledore's gaze was still focused on the Centaurs in the distance. His deep eyes kept flickering, as if he were thinking about something important in his mind.
After a moment of silence, Dumbledore said in a low voice, "We must quickly send Hagrid, Adelaide, and the MacFusty siblings to Madam Pomfrey for treatment. As for other matters, we'll discuss them later after these emergencies are handled."
With that, he waved his hand, signaling everyone to quicken their pace toward the Castle entrance.
When they arrived hurriedly at the Castle entrance, Professor Sprout, who was responsible for guarding the other students, was already waiting there.
"Pomona, I'm relieved to see you're alright. How is the situation in the Castle?" Dumbledore asked with concern.
Professor Sprout replied, "Except for a small mishap in Gryffindor, no abnormalities have been found elsewhere for now. Mr. Kettleburn, who was guarding the Gryffindor Common Room, threw his prosthetic leg to catch a student trying to sneak out and knocked a third-year student unconscious. Also, those Weasley twins somehow managed to get their eyebrows singed off by a Salamander."
Professor McGonagall's face instantly darkened like a gathering storm cloud, as if a tempest could break out at any moment.
She handed Alice over to Madam Hooch beside her, made up a random excuse, and hurried toward Gryffindor Tower.
The other Professors remained calm, seemingly long accustomed to such situations.
After all, with such a situation occurring, it would have been strange if the Gryffindors hadn't taken the opportunity to cause some trouble!
Dumbledore suddenly asked, "Where is Sybill now?"
Hearing this question, Professor Sprout was stunned. Why was Dumbledore looking for that divination fraud?
"If you're looking for Trelawney, according to what we discussed earlier, she should be in the Ravenclaw House common room right now."
Professor Sprout curled her lip and continued, "If you want a divination, I suggest you go find Vector. She's over at the Slytherin common room; Arithmancy is more reliable."
Dumbledore shook his head and continued, "It must be Sybill. When you go to settle the Hufflepuff students, please also invite Aurora to my office for me. I still have some questions about Astronomy I'd like to ask her."
After hearing Dumbledore's arrangements, although Professor Sprout was still full of doubt, she nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile, the other Professors also moved quickly, each performing their duties to ensure the school's safety and order were restored. The turmoil of this Halloween night had completely subsided.
