Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Rewards & Rumors

Eli stumbled into his clinic, limbs trembling from exhaustion. His body screamed in protest, and his mana reserves felt like they had been drained dry. Every step toward the bed was heavier than the last. Without even thinking, he collapsed, the world fading to black as sleep claimed him.

‎Hours later, sunlight filtered softly through the blinds. Eli's eyes fluttered open. Memories of the dungeon — the goblin horde, the shaman, the fire slime — surged back like a tidal wave. He groaned and rolled onto his back.

‎"I… actually survived all that?"

‎Sitting up, his gaze drifted to the three-eyed hound curled in the corner of the clinic. Its fur was singed in places, claws nicked, but it was alive, breathing softly. A scan through the system confirmed what Eli had feared and hoped for:

‎[SYSTEM WINDOW OPENING…]

‎[NAME: ELI]

‎[LEVEL: 5]

‎[CLASS: MONSTER GARDENER]

‎[SUBCLASS: NONE]

‎[SKILLS: GARDENER'S SPACE, SHADOWFANG EVOLUTION, BASIC MANA CONTROL, CURSED SKILL: YGGDRASIL'S GRIP]

‎[STATUS:]

‎• STRENGTH 8

‎• AGILITY 6

‎• DEXTERITY 11

‎• INTELLIGENCE 13

‎• MANA 18

‎[REWARD ACQUIRED: BASIC MANA CONTROL — allows precise manipulation of mana for skills and enhanced spell efficiency]

‎[+3 to all stats]

‎[CURSED SKILL ACQUIRED: YGGDRASIL'S GRIP — slows movement and reaction speed of monsters and humans in the Garden's influence]

‎Eli's eyes sparkled as he scanned the three-eyed hound.

‎[MONSTER STATUS — THREE-EYED HOUND]

‎LEVEL 3 ⟩ 4

‎ELEMENT: SHADOW LIGHTNING

‎SKILLS: SHADOWFANG (FULLY UNLOCKED), LUCK MANIFESTATION

‎PERSONALITY: LOYAL, FEARLESS, PLAYFUL

‎The hound's three eyes glowed faintly. Eli leapt from the bed, rushing toward it.

‎"Yes! You leveled up!" he shouted, spinning in a circle and nearly tripping over his own feet.

‎"Shadow Lightning… fully unlocked! I can't believe it!"

‎He crouched, running his hands along the hound's fur. It nuzzled him affectionately, letting out a low, approving growl. Eli's laughter echoed through the clinic, full of relief, excitement, and pure joy.

‎Next, his attention shifted to the Fire Slime floating lazily in its containment field. Its translucent body shimmered, flickers of flame dancing across its surface. Eli reached out, letting his mana flow gently into it.

‎[MONSTER STATUS — FIRE SLIME]

‎LEVEL: 10

‎ELEMENT: FIRE

‎ATTACK TYPE: RANGED / ENERGY CONDUCTOR

‎SPECIAL ABILITY: ENERGY TRANSMISSION — amplifies magical output of compatible summoner skills

‎PERSONALITY: CURIOUS, PLAYFUL, SLIGHTLY AGITATED WHEN MISUSED

‎"Too high to level up huh… but still powerful," Eli muttered, watching it pulse warmly under his touch.

‎He experimented, carefully merging the Fire Slime's energy with his Shadowfang skill. Flames danced across his partially wolf-like hands as the Shadowfang evolution flared to life. He let out a laugh, heart pounding:

‎"This… this is amazing! I've got a new skill AND a new monster. Things are about to get interesting!"

‎Eli moved across the clinic, testing Yggdrasil's Grip. Objects slowed as if the world had thickened around them. Even a stray cat that had wandered in froze mid-leap, startled but unharmed.

‎"Subtle, but effective…" he whispered, flexing his hands, feeling the strange harmony between his mana, his monsters, and the new cursed skill.

‎Outside the city, rumors spread like wildfire. Someone had recorded the previous day's dungeon fight and uploaded it online:

‎"A mysterious summoner stopped a dungeon break alone… insane power!"

‎"Level unknown… did you see those monsters?!"

‎"Could this be a new awakening?"

‎The Hunters' Association was taking notice. Patrols increased near the area, careful scouts observed the streets, and analysts began piecing together the summoner's identity. Eli remained unaware of the full extent of their attention, though he sensed shadows moving just beyond the city limits, and he felt a faint thrill of danger.

‎Back in the clinic, Eli returned to the Garden interface. He examined his Fire Slime and three-eyed hound, letting the synergy between them wash over him. Shadowfang energy crackled along his wolf-clawed hands as he practiced, fire and shadow intertwining beautifully.

‎"We're just getting started," he murmured, smiling calmly. "The Garden… is only going to grow stronger."

‎And as the sun dipped below the horizon, Eli felt it: the quiet before the next storm. The world was beginning to take notice of him, his monsters, and the dangerous new skills that had just awakened.
