Chapter 20 - PILLARS FALL

The night above Tokyo tore itself apart.

Clouds stretched unnaturally, black as ink, warped as if the city itself were bending under pressure.

Air trembled with a weight that had nothing to do with gravity.

Birds froze mid-flight, cursed spirits screamed silently, and the city shuddered as if aware that something unprecedented had arrived.

Satoru Gojo felt it first. Standing atop a half-finished skyscraper, blindfold clinging to his face, his Six Eyes flared.

Every calculation screamed the same thing: someone had come who could rival the strongest force humanity had ever produced. He smirked. "So… the stories were true."

Behind him, Toshinori Yagi—All Might—stood solid, golden aura faintly flaring around his fists.

Even in his weakened state, his presence pushed back against the distortion, concrete cracking under his boots. "This presence…" All Might muttered. "It's not just cursed energy. It's intention. Calculated. Absolute."

The air shivered.

A distortion tore open in the heart of the city, and from it stepped Izana.

His movements calm, measured, predatory.

The world itself bent around him. His cursed energy radiated outward in waves, a pressure so potent it made even Gojo's Six Eyes strain.

"The pillars," Izana said, voice low and even, "the protectors of this era. I had hoped they were myths. But here you are."

Gojo's grin was sharp. "Sorry, no autographs today. You'll have to settle for a fight."

All Might's eyes narrowed. "No matter what it costs, Night Sky ends tonight."

Izana's gaze shifted to him, something like faint admiration flickering. "Toshinori Yagi. Even hollowed out, you still shine. How tragic."

The first clash tore the rooftop apart. Izana moved with inevitability, not speed, bending the space between them.

Gojo instinctively activated Infinity. Layers of spatial defense rose around him, yet for the first time, Infinity hesitated.

Force, distance, consequence—each became negotiable under Izana's Sovereign Null ability.

All Might surged forward, every ounce of strength he had left in his massive frame.

A punch meant to end the fight. Izana met it, his own cursed energy flaring violently, colliding with All Might's strike.

The city around them screamed under the pressure.

Concrete fractured. Steel screamed. Windows vaporized.

The shockwave shredded three city blocks in an instant.

Izana stumbled back slightly, breathing hard, his arms still intact, but eyes narrowing. "So this is the peak of human strength," he said, voice ragged. "Impressive."

All Might roared and struck again. Gojo unleashed Hollow Purple, a catastrophic collision of forces that tore the air into nothing.

The two heroes moved in perfect tandem, striking from different angles, tearing at Izana's defenses.

And yet, Izana held. He folded reality around him, bending concepts to survive. Every punch, every blast, every movement met resistance—not failure, but inevitability.

For a moment, Gojo and All Might realized that they were testing limits that might be beyond even them.

Then All Might made his choice. Gathering every remaining reserve, muscle screaming, bones fracturing under the effort, he struck with one final, impossible blow.

His fist collided with Izana's center mass. The shockwave was apocalyptic.

Izana grunted, staggering, and in that instant, All Might's body faltered.

Blood trailed down his torso as energy reserves finally gave out.

He collapsed, chest pierced, eyes still shining faintly with a smile. "For… the future," he whispered. The Symbol of Peace was gone.

Gojo's rage exploded in response. Space folded violently under Hollow Purple, Blue and Red colliding into a crescendo of annihilation.

Izana raised both arms to resist, energy exploding outward.

One of All Might's strikes tore through his right shoulder. A jagged scream of cursed energy erupted, and when the light settled, his right arm hung uselessly, severed at the shoulder.

Pain, blood, and cursed energy surged through him, yet he staggered forward, teeth gritted, still fighting.

But the combined force of Gojo and the final impact from All Might had taken its toll. Gojo's Infinity began to flicker under the strain.

Every strike, every layer of space he maintained, threatened to collapse. Izana's left arm drove a final blow into Gojo.

Time slowed. Gojo's cursed energy screamed.

Infinity broke.

Six Eyes flickered, darkened, and the world seemed to pause.

Then, motionless, Gojo collapsed. No cursed energy. No breath. No presence.

Dead.

Izana stood, chest heaving, one arm severed, body battered and bloodied, but victorious.

He looked at the devastation around him, city blocks leveled, cursed spirits annihilated. "The pillars are gone," he said quietly. "The era ends tonight."

Without hesitation, he vanished into a spatial distortion, leaving Tokyo in ruin.

Far away, Night Sky headquarters erupted in chaos. Generals froze, staring at the live feed of their leader emerging from the destruction, one arm gone, body shattered, breathing ragged. "Leader—your arm!" one yelled.

Izana waved them away weakly. "Do not speak. They are gone. The world is unguarded. Phase Two begins now."

And somewhere in the ruins, a city that had once relied on symbols of hope trembled, unknowing that the two greatest protectors had fallen in a single night.
