The dining table had been set with Margaret's good dishes that she would only use for holidays and special occasions. Pot roast sat in the center, surrounded by roasted vegetables and fresh rolls.
It was a spread designed to impress, and from the princes' polite appreciation, it had succeeded.
"This looks wonderful," Adrian said, settling into the chair Margaret had arranged. "Thank you for going to such trouble."
"It's no trouble," Margaret said, though clearly it had been. "It's not every day my daughter brings home her new husband."
Then they served themselves, and for a few minutes, conversation focused on the food. The princes ate with apparent enjoyment, though Lilian knew they derived no nutrition from human food.
Right now they are performing, making Margaret feel like her effort was appreciated.
"So," Margaret said once everyone had full plates. "Tell me about this security business of yours. What exactly does Blackwood security do?"
