"Dated," Lucien repeated, his voice carefully neutral. "How serious are we talking?"
"High school serious," Lilian replied flatly. "Which means we thought we were soulmates, but really we were just teenagers who liked making out behind the gym. It was nothing."
"Nothing that might complicate our visit?" Dante asked, his voice sharp.
"I haven't seen him in years," she said. "He's probably married with kids by now. It's fine."
Through the bond, she could feel their collective skepticism. Apparently these three powerful men weren't thrilled about the existence of an ex-boyfriend, no matter how irrelevant he was to her current life.
"If he should approach you, how would you like us to handle it?" Adrian asked calmly.
"Politely," Lilian said firmly, her expression turning serious. "He's a good guy. We just weren't compatible long-term. That's it. So be nice to him."
