Why was this Hiro-kun so... so attractive?
The moment her eyes met his face, Mikan Yuuki's gaze became like iron drawn to a super magnet, firmly locked in place, completely unable to look away from his overwhelmingly seductive appearance.
Some unknown Authority-one that naturally increased affinity with the opposite sex without even the user being aware of it-had struck the young girl's exact weak point.
And the effect was terrifyingly strong.
Relying on the good upbringing she had received since childhood, Mikan Yuuki barely managed to wrench her eyes away through sheer willpower, forcibly avoiding the impolite act of staring at someone nonstop.
Yet the moment his face left her sight, a clear and distinct emotion surfaced deep in her heart.
Loss.
The feeling was strangely familiar, like the moment one's overall class ranking suddenly dropped from first to second.
There was no reason for it.
It simply appeared.
Is this... what they call the psychology of love?
No. No, no.
Hiro-kun is Asuna Onee-san's crush.
How could I possibly have these kinds of thoughts about Hiro-kun?
I have to endure it.
If I leave this place-if I can't see Hiro-kun anymore-this feeling should naturally calm down.
Thoughts like these flashed through her mind.
Mikan Yuuki chose to suppress the embarrassing, violently surging emotions by forcefully emptying her mind.
However, when genuine feelings rise from deep within the heart, mere endurance, ignorance, or avoidance often produces the opposite result.
With her current life experience, Mikan Yuuki had no way of realizing that.
When the day came that the emotions in her heart grew beyond what she could endure, the backlash she would face would be far more intense than when those feelings first appeared.
But for now-
Mikan Yuuki endured.
Following Hiro into the castle, Asuna Yuuki paused to look around.
Surprise and awe flickered across her face, accompanied by a faint smile.
"Hiro-sensei's home doesn't look anything like an ordinary civil residence. When was it rebuilt?"
A castle appearing in Saitama Prefecture-an area not exactly known for wealth-should have made the news.
Why hadn't she heard anything about it?
Asuna Yuuki smiled, but the question surfaced naturally in her mind.
Although Hiro had always given her a sense of mystery during their everyday school life-sometimes enough for her to imagine him as a "Descendant of Eastern Martial Arts" or a "Disciple of a Reclusive Immortal"-Asuna Yuuki didn't dare to make assumptions without concrete evidence.
If Hiro knew what she was thinking, he would probably be thinking the same thing.
Rias and the others' post-incident cleanup work was really thorough.
"Sensei?" Hiro chuckled. "Forget it. I can't accept that title."
He waved it off casually.
He didn't voice his real thought.
That being a novelist was a dead end.
In both his previous life and this one, throughout Asia, the profession of novelist was widely regarded as a "dead end"-rarely acknowledged by the older generation, often lumped together with being unemployed or not doing proper work.
"The living room's too crowded," Hiro continued. "I'll take you to my room."
"Okay."
Asuna Yuuki nodded and followed, while the two girls behind her quietly kept pace.
Even so, Asuna Yuuki couldn't help feeling a slight shock as she noticed the beautiful women waving to her from nearby.
Rias-senpai.
Akeno-senpai.
Student Council President Sona.
Vice President Tsubaki Shinra.
And Koneko-chan.
They all lived with Hiro-kun?
So the rumors about Hiro-kun's chaotic private life weren't baseless?
Asuna Yuuki politely nodded to the famous figures of Kuoh Academy.
Without Hiro needing to explain anything, she thoughtfully found an excuse for him herself.
Hiro-kun's mother, aunt, and sister probably live here too.
Living together doesn't necessarily mean anything.
Maybe Rias-senpai and the others are just sharing rent or staying here temporarily.
It might not be what I'm imagining.
In any case, I'll ask Hiro-kun later.
Mikan Yuuki followed silently behind her sister.
The blush on her cheeks had faded slightly, but it was still clearly visible.
Only Hiro and Asuna Yuuki, walking at the front, failed to notice Mikan Yuuki's abnormal state.
Everyone else noticed.
Whether they were simply watching-or Eto Yoshimura.
Oh-ho.
So this Mikan girl has thoughts about this Hiro fellow.
Even though it's their first meeting.
Oh, sweet maiden.
Seeing the unnatural blush on her best friend's face, Eto Yoshimura's lips curled upward into a faint, amused smile.
Her eyes flicked back and forth between Hiro and Mikan Yuuki.
Watching the four figures disappear up the stairs, Sona finally set down her pen.
She subconsciously adjusted the glasses on the bridge of her nose and looked toward the red-haired beauty across from her.
"Rias, you noticed that girl's behavior just now."
"Of course," Rias replied, her expression saying who do you think I am. Her tone carried a hint of helplessness.
"She's a classmate of Hiro-kun's sister. It should be their first time meeting, yet she's already acting like that. Should I just sigh and say, 'as expected of Hiro'?"
"Although it looks like love at first sight," Tsubaki Shinra said calmly from beside her master, "we can't entirely rule out the possibility that the girl is simply uncomfortable being in a man's home for the first time. Psychological stress could produce that kind of reaction."
"That's true, but still..."
Rias lifted her gaze toward the direction of Hiro's room.
Her expression was slightly strange.
"If that's really all it is, then I'd feel relieved."
I have a feeling this isn't that simple.
Rias kept the final thought to herself.
