----------------------------------------------------------
This time, because it was his first attempt at manipulating a god-and because of the self-imposed restriction of not being discovered-it had taken him far longer than expected.
If that restriction were lifted, Hiro estimated the time could be reduced by at least half.
Possibly even two-thirds.
Or three-quarters.
That wouldn't surprise him.
After all, the two gods ahead were similar in strength, making it impossible to verify whether the difficulty of manipulation scaled with a god's power.
"Erica Blandelli."
While slowly ascending, Hiro looked down at the resolute young knight below and reminded her calmly.
"The battlefield of the gods is ahead. If you don't want to live, I don't mind you joining."
"If you try to stop me, I'll forcibly send you away."
"What happened yesterday-I don't think you've forgotten that quickly."
Damn it.
Warned by Hiro, scenes from yesterday resurfaced in Erica's mind against her will.
Annoyance flashed through her, followed by a deep sense of powerlessness.
To refuse to act against a god for a ridiculous reason like preparing breakfast for my master...
This King who appeared out of nowhere was absurdly willful.
And her Master was exactly the same.
It wasn't uncommon for Campiones to refuse to confront descending Heretic Gods for personal reasons. Erica understood that well.
The most famous example was the leader of the Five Prisons Sacred Cult-the Martial Arts King, Luo Hao-who had ruled Huaxia for over two hundred years.
Anything outside Huaxia's triangular territory was ignored entirely.
In two centuries, she had stepped outside the country only twice.
Once by accident during a battle with the Marquis.
And once decades ago, when war reached her homeland-where she annihilated the invaders and incidentally destroyed two cities in the enemy's country.
"Miss Erica, what should we do now?"
Hearing the voice from below, Erica took several deep breaths and steadied herself.
"Retreat."
"Pull back at least another three kilometers."
"Yes."
"Oh? You've come as well, young man favored by the light!"
The moment Hiro arrived near the two Heretic Gods, Verethragna's excited voice rang out.
Favored by the light? Is he talking about my first Authority?
Hiro raised an eyebrow, looking at Verethragna with a strange expression.
He couldn't understand why a dignified, undefeated God of War would care about such a seemingly useless Authority.
"To be favored by my Lord in human form-you must have encountered my Lord Mithra somewhere, haven't you?"
Verethragna ignored Melqart entirely, his eyes fixed on Hiro.
"To cross swords with a warrior blessed by my Lord-when I return to mythology, I must tell him of this marvelous experience!"
His handsome face was filled with battle lust and fanaticism.
"A warrior favored by the light?"
Melqart's massive voice followed.
"So that's it. A lucky human protected by a god."
Enough chatter.
Annoyed by their commentary, Hiro curled his lip.
He issued a command to Melqart-charge up and deal with Verethragna-while drawing the blood-red spear from system space into his right hand.
"No more talk, God of War."
"Let's fight."
As the cold sensation flooded his mind, Melqart roared and carried out the order without hesitation.
Ignoring Hiro completely, the God King swung the colossal mace in his right hand-dozens of meters long-straight at Verethragna.
However, the purple-haired youth merely raised the golden sword that appeared in his hand.
With a flash, he blocked the full-force strike with ease and even mocked him.
"Melqart. Your strength has weakened. Haven't your old injuries recovered yet?"
"Even if I haven't recovered-"
"I am still the God King!"
Unfazed by the miss, Melqart roared and swung the giant mace in his left hand.
"Pursuer!"
"Witness the power of my wrath!"
Before the mace could fully descend, Verethragna's expression changed.
He instantly activated the Phoenix incarnation.
In the next moment-before Pursuer struck-a thin red line silently cut through the space where he had just stood.
"Tsk."
Seeing the Spear of Longinus miss its target, Hiro clicked his tongue.
As expected.
Authority - Phoenix: When subjected to a rapid attack, it grants speed and leap force surpassing the attack itself.
The faster the enemy.
The faster he becomes.
As long as Verethragna can react, evasion is guaranteed.
In theory, even a light-speed attack could be dodged in Phoenix form.
Blocking Melqart again, Verethragna showed no fear.
Only growing excitement.
"What was that spear just now?"
"Some kind of Divine Tool?"
"I could feel the power to kill me in it."
Crack.
Hiro casually blocked the violent lightning crashing down with a sturdy magic shield.
He had no intention of answering.
Instead, he quietly took out a lead-gray slate and showed Verethragna a teasing smile.
"You dodged just now."
"Are you planning to keep dodging?"
As he spoke, brilliant white light began to spill from the slate.
My Incarnation.
Verethragna instantly recognized it.
As the image of another young man surfaced in his mind, admiration flashed through his thoughts.
So that's it.
Not only a Divine Tool-but he even seized a warrior's Incarnation.
Well prepared to become a Maou.
Dodging would be easy.
But pride-and the desire to reclaim his Incarnation-made him abandon that choice.
"I cannot be defeated by my own Incarnation!"
"Why should I avoid it?!"
Unleashing the Bull, Verethragna blasted Melqart away and charged straight at Hiro.
Hee-haw!
A radiant white steed burst forth from the slate.
At Hiro's command, it transformed into a blazing pillar of light and slammed directly into Verethragna.
Boom!
Hiro's right hand-freed after throwing the spear-rose again.
Palm facing the sky, he looked at Verethragna struggling within the light and chuckled softly.
"One White Horse isn't enough?"
"What if I add another?"
Hee-haw!
Before the words faded, white light erupted from the clouds.
Another divine White Horse descended.
Identical in form-
But overwhelmingly brighter.
Bright enough to sear the retinas of ordinary beings instantly.
"What?!"
Trapped within the scorching light, Verethragna looked up instinctively.
Disbelief appeared on his face for the first time.
"That is my Incarnation-the White Horse!"
"Impossible! How can a mere human wield a god's Authority?!"
"And this power-what is this exaggerated monstrosity?!"
The White Horse in the high sky did not dive immediately.
Instead, it paused.
Then began to change.
Roar-!!
The steed transformed into a lion.
Its beauty remained.
Its majesty multiplied.
The White Horse is the steed that bears the sun.
It strikes with the might of the sun itself.
The Sun Authority is the manifestation of the concept of "Sun" within the boundless worlds of Little Garden.
Though Hiro didn't know whether it was due to lacking a Star Spirit Divine Tier or another reason, he couldn't summon the Leo Star Beast like Shirayasha.
But under the enhancement of Sun Authority - Leo, the White Horse's power expanded infinitely.
An apocalypse-level force.
Enough to destroy Sardinia.
Italy.
Europe.
Or even the planet itself.
Even at half strength, it was still 1/2 of the Sun Authority.
And the true maximum-twelve suns borne to the surface-might exceed planetary destruction entirely.
Of course, Hiro had restrained it countless times already.
"Verethragna."
"This is still your White Horse."
"Catch it properly."
With a defiant smile, Hiro swung his hand downward.
The Lion descended.
Fiercely.
Relentlessly.
Before Verethragna could break free.
