Chapter 69 - Brutally Beating Kokabiel

Being punched squarely in the face by Hiro left Kokabiel's mind filled with nothing but a dull, ringing buzz.

No other thoughts could form.

His body flew straight back, crashing into the high school teaching building of the new campus hundreds of meters away.

The terrifying kinetic energy pierced through every obstacle in its path.

The ten-winged fallen angel's body barely slowed at all, shooting toward the distant edge of the barrier at the limit of his vision.

After Kokabiel tore through the new school building area, a level-eighteen hurricane suddenly formed behind him, ripping away most of the structure in a violent sweep.

The original five-story building was instantly reduced to its foundation, the first floor, and a small remnant of the second.

The shockwave even blasted a certain fat old man who had been swallowed by a fissure into the air, sending him spinning upward amid frantic cries of "Lint, save me!"

Asia, as a non-combatant, had already been positioned some distance from the battlefield.

Even so, in a fight far beyond standard levels, the little nun couldn't avoid being affected.

"Ahhh!"

Gripping the handrail embedded in the building with all her strength, she barely managed to steady herself.

Having never witnessed such a scene, Asia's face turned pale as she cried out in panic.

"Asia!"

Koneko noticed her situation immediately.

She left the battlefield that had momentarily stalled due to Hiro and Kokabiel's clash, dodged flying debris, and arrived at Asia's side.

"Heeey."

Casually knocking away a piece of flying wood, Koneko's slender, petite figure gave Asia-who was still swaying in the violent wind-a strong sense of security.

"Thank you, Koneko-chan."

Still clinging to the handrail, Asia thanked her softly, eyes fixed on Koneko's back.

"No need. This is probably all I can do right now."

Koneko didn't turn around, her eyes narrowing slightly as she looked toward the center of the battlefield.

Hiro's battlefield was out of the question.

Even if she went to Kiba Yuuto and the Holy Sword users, she would only become a burden.

It was better to retreat and protect Asia, the physically weak reserve member.

No matter how unwilling she felt, Koneko understood that clearly.

If things keep going like this... when will I ever catch up to Kuroka-nee-san?

The thought drifted through her mind.

Bang!

"Koneko-chan!"

Asia cried out in surprise.

Hmm.

This sandbag is pretty solid.

Clenching his right fist and feeling the explosive power coursing through it, the corner of Hiro's mouth beneath the crimson mask lifted slightly into a crooked, arrogant smile-hidden from everyone else.

It was rare to encounter a sandbag of similar size and first-rate strength.

Outside, Sona Sitri and the others had already deployed a barrier.

If the barrier wasn't broken...

there would be a problem.

Thinking this, Hiro looked toward Kokabiel, who had smashed through the building and was still flying who knew where.

His eyes widened.

His lips twitched twice.

Alright.

I was too naive.

Realizing the situation might turn unfavorable, he didn't dare delay.

His feet slammed hard into the ground.

Boom-

Cracks spread outward from beneath his feet in an instant.

The already ruined schoolyard was pushed further into devastation.

The lawn. The rubber track.

Gone.

The brown soil buried beneath was churned up, as if an old ox had plowed it back and forth repeatedly.

Using the recoil, Hiro's body shot into the sky, fiercely chasing Kokabiel.

Woo-woo-woo-

Who am I?

Where am I?

Amid the howling wind, Kokabiel's thoughts-stunned moments earlier by the blow-gradually recovered.

His unfocused gaze sharpened rapidly.

I am Kokabiel.

I'm fighting the second Red Dragon Emperor.

He punched me into the ground, and then-!!

The image of that crimson iron fist flashed through his mind.

Kokabiel's already narrow pupils shrank even further, nearly disappearing as fear drained the color from his face.

Where is that Red Dragon Emperor?!

His ten wings flapped violently, forcing his body upright from its supine state.

Although the momentum of his backward flight couldn't be stopped immediately, this at least gave him a chance to react to the next attack.

He scanned his surroundings.

Before he could locate the crimson figure, something slammed heavily into his back.

Crack-crack-

The sound of glass shattering rang out.

Kokabiel instinctively turned his head toward the noise.

Yellow, blue, green, black, red.

Five colors.

Six pairs.

Twelve astonished eyes.

Six female devils in uniforms identical to Rias Gremory's stared at him.

The emotions in their eyes differed, but the meaning was clear.

In two of them, there was even faint fear.

Now isn't the time to care about these small fries.

Forcing his focus, Kokabiel discarded the useless information.

His scarlet eyes locked onto an extremely blurry red figure in the distance.

"Here it comes!"

Bright yellow light erupted from his body.

His wings beat hard, pulling him away from the edge of the barrier.

The ten-winged figure flickered-

and vanished from Sona Sitri's sight.

However, the movement trajectory that Sona Sitri and the others couldn't follow was completely visible to Hiro.

With Observation Haki, it wasn't an exaggeration to say that even without activating it, Hiro was confident he could track Kokabiel's magically accelerated movement.

And the result was-

Kokabiel had barely moved a dozen meters when his neck was seized by a demon-god-like crimson figure.

His body was slammed violently into the barrier wall ahead.

Crack-crack-

Spiderweb-like fractures spread across the barrier.

Hiro's eyes twitched hard as he saw it.

This is bad.

It was too convenient.

So he'd just done it directly.

But now-

it looked like he'd done something stupid.
