Chapter 18 - Chapter - 17

{RO Match Survival in Island}

I'm on-site staff. It's Dansol, and it's Yoo Dohyeon. Taking questions for 5 minutes, then I'm deleting.

└ It's really Dansol?ㅠㅠ What about our baby… Did they seriously look down on him for being a flop idol?

└ No. The seniors dote on him. He's nice and cute, so veterans like Han Jisu and Jeong Daesu like him. The camera director and other staff all find him cute as hell too—he's actually the most popular. Just a few people are petty about him. Nobody disrespects him outright like Yoo Dohyeon. Honestly that scene was huge bait, but on set, things worse than that have happened. I can't say more.

└ Any couple with the highest chance of actually happening?

└ Honestly, none right now. People show mild interest here and there, but there's no pair that's really "a couple" yet.

└ What about Lee Yiyeon and Yoo Dohyeon?

└ That's Yoo Dohyeon chasing him one-sidedly. That's basically next week spoilers, so I'll stop here.

└ Why does Jegal Minhyeok barely show up on camera? Did the staff hate him?

└ Not that. He's always off somewhere under a rock or a pine tree playing guitar, so he doesn't get caught on camera. He also keeps leaving the house, so when it's time to film, they go drag him back like calling kids in from a playground.

└ I bought Daesu–Jisu stock, is there a chance? Like what percent?

└ 0%.

└ Why so firm? Say it's a jokeㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

└ 0.000000001%...?

└ Who's most different from their broadcast image, and who's most the same?

└ Jeong Daesu. In real life he's not that scary—he's just quiet. He takes good care of people. His personality is genuinely good and he's disciplined. The most "same" is Dansol. He's seriously cute as hell, greets everyone, and he's super nice. Taeoh's the same age, but Taeoh feels like a kid, and Dansol feels like he's on his second life.

└ Who was actually at fault for the "flop idol" thing?

└ Honestly, that's why I wrote this—because I'm worried it won't all air. Yoo Dohyeon was in the wrong and Dansol's a total saint. Since Lee Yiyeon has some interest in Dansol, he was subtly checking Yoo Dohyeon, but it seems like Dansol held it in until he snapped. Five minutes are up. Deleting now. Bye.

└ What does DinoSoul normally eat that they'd think that is delicious…

└ It might look like that but still taste good.....

└ Today's episode was honestly so sad—Taeoh and Dansol's wealth gap talk almost made me cryㅠㅠㅠ

└ And asking if he lives with his "auntie" is so cute.. Dansol does everything and feeds his younger membersㅠㅠ

└ But Taeoh was originally that role back in Zeus's 1st albumㅠㅠ He was the leader, and because they at least had some recognition, he went on variety shows and did stuff like competing with a seal on who claps louder

└ That was Taeoh? I remember seeing that

└ So he probably feels even worse toward Dansolㅠㅠㅠ

└ Dansol's lowkey funny though lol he attacks with spicy jokesㅠㅠ Taeoh's gonna cry

└ But My Fairy lives in a semi-basement? 8 people in a 2-room place? That agency is insaneㅠㅠ Just hearing it makes me suffocateㅠㅠ

"Sol. Can hyung come in?"

"Yeees…"

After crying for a long time, Dansol showered to hide his swollen eyes. Jisu knocked and came into the room. It was Jisu's room too, but seeing him enter so carefully made Dansol think he'd made a fuss and bothered him.

"Hyung… I'm sorry."

"Dansol's nose is red. You look like Rudolph—cute."

"I caused a scene for no reason…"

Jisu spoke like he was trying to comfort the dejected Dansol. At Jisu's words, Dansol jolted upright.

"It's fine. There's a bigger scene happening outside right now."

"Th-then what…?"

"Taeoh and Yoon Yeomin are throwing punches."

"What?!"

"To be precise, Taeoh lost a one-sided match."

"Ah—no! We have to stop it!"

"It ended before anyone could stop it. He got hit once and passed out."

"Who did?!"

"Who do you think? Taeoh. Guess reflexes and power aren't the same thing. I've never seen Yeomin work out. Maybe he's secretly eating wild ginseng…"

After Dansol went back inside Chunmonggak, Taeoh couldn't stop worrying that Dansol got hurt because of him. Then one line from Yeomin slashed right through Taeoh's already anxious heart, and things happened.

"Nothing I said was wrong. He's got jack shit but his pride's huge."

Thud—!

Somewhere along the way, Taeoh had started seeing himself and Dansol as the same. He couldn't tolerate Yeomin, who looked down on idols at every turn, anymore—and Taeoh threw a punch at Yeomin. It was the first punch he'd ever thrown in his life.

"This little psycho."

Crack—!

Yeomin, who got caught off guard and took a hit to the cheekbone, returned a punch that made Taeoh's vision flash white.

When Taeoh hit, it made a thud.

When Yeomin hit, it sounded like something broke.

Unlike Taeoh, for whom it was his first time hitting someone, it wasn't Yeomin's first.

It was late at night when Dansol came into the kitchen. Because of the violence, filming that day had been dead for a long time.

Thanks to Hera's support trucks, the staff—who'd been forced into nonstop hard schedules since the show began—were apparently drinking their hearts out like it was a long-overdue party.

The loud noise from the front yard smashed against the windows and rolled away.

In contrast, the inside of the lodge was silent, like someone had dumped ice over everything. Dansol guessed it was because of Taeoh and Yeomin's fistfight.

Dansol hadn't even eaten dinner. He walked toward the table, thinking he'd at least eat the fried rice he'd made earlier—then found Taeoh rubbing a raw egg on his face.

"Taeoh-ssi? Are you okay?"

Taeoh flinched at Dansol's voice. He must have touched his bruised nose by mistake, because he let out a groan, then hurriedly acted like he was fine.

"Ow, ow… I'm fine. This is nothing…"

"I heard you passed out."

"Who said that?! That sunbae's fists are so soft I thought it was a pillow and I just took a quick nap!"

"Pff— Taeoh-ssi, you don't have to act tough with me."

"Hey! I'm not acting tough—I am tough, okay? I threw the first punch, at least. But you know what's lucky? Since it's mutual assault, they decided not to make an issue out of it. I almost ended up on the morning news tomorrow…"

Even with his nose swollen like a bee sting, Taeoh kept talking shamelessly, and Dansol smiled brightly.

He felt sorry for him, but at the same time, seeing Taeoh get properly taken down—like Taeoh's position wasn't all that different from his—made Dansol feel oddly glad.

"Ah, Taeoh-ssi. Want a gift?"

"A gift?"

After looking at Taeoh's bruised face sadly for a moment, Dansol suddenly stood up and said he'd bring a gift.

There wasn't much you could get on the island, but Taeoh still felt his expectations rise a little.

"Okay, close your eyes. Don't open them!"

Obediently keeping his eyes shut, Taeoh listened quietly as Dansol moved back and forth in front of him—then scampered away and came back again.

After movements so light and fluttery that no amount of cutesy onomatopoeia would be wasted, Dansol said,

"Open your eyes."

"Fried rice?!"

In front of Taeoh was the fried rice Dansol made, along with side dishes. Taeoh hadn't been able to eat either because of the whole mess.

He hadn't noticed earlier, but smelling the fried rice now made him realize how hungry he was.

"There's one more. Hold out your hand."

Dansol turned his back to the camera and held his hand out toward Taeoh.

Taeoh opened his palm with a grin, thinking it might be candy for dessert—only for a small slip of paper to drop into his hand.

"This is…"

It was a voting slip—the one that could choose an elimination.

"I thought you might need it…"

Dansol smiled faintly.

"But… Dansol-ssi needs this too."

Taeoh meant Yoo Dohyeon. Dansol shook his head.

"I… don't need it yet."

Not yet. Yoo Dohyeon and Yiyeon bothered him, but more than wanting them eliminated, Dansol wanted his own elimination.

Meanwhile, Taeoh—who didn't know Dansol's plan—felt his heart pounding and his ears ringing the moment Dansol placed the voting slip in his hand.

That faint smile directed at him, even the cozy table, felt like a romantic space prepared just for the two of them.

"I'm just lending it, so don't feel too burdened. Later, when I actually need it, Taeoh-ssi can help me once."

"Okay… I will. If Dansol-ssi asks me for help, anything… I'll help!"

That night, Taeoh lay awake again, torn between Jisu and Dansol—while the two of them had no idea.
