Chapter 5 - The Deductions

Wait, the system can lower my rating.

Winston walked inside the training building hallway, he opened the Core system and started going through his stats. Sure enough his rating was lowered. Looking around Winston leaned on the wall near the medic door.

Failing to complete these daily tasks has significant repercussions, negatively affecting my rating and potential, which alters the entire situation. Some of my skills are getting better, albeit slightly. Let's look at just two improved skills: shooting and passing. Perhaps I can improve them with points. Mmm! I have to complete the next task."

Shoosh!

Startled by the door, Winston straightened himself, a figure wearing a club track suit poked out, a tall, skinny man in his mid thirties also startled, he suggested to Winston to come in.

"How are you feeling?"

"I feel great, Doc."

I'm glad to hear that. Did the doctor prescribe any medication for you? The medical staff provided Winston with a cup and explained, "You'll need to urinate in this cup so we can test for any drugs." And the coach was concerned about you. When you took too long in the toilet. Don't worry if we found something we will minister it with some medicine to clean it out of your system."

Winston wondered if his taking too long made him too suspicious. Not wanting to explain the situation with the system he has activated during the incident. Winston sat on the plastic chairs, looking at the medic personnel pacing back and forth writing some things down. This made Winston's left leg start tapping rapidly, another medic personnel came in and took Winston to another room where he started running on the treadmill while being hooked on wires monitoring his vitalities. After that they sent him to an oxygen tent where Winston inhaled the oxygen for hours. And they woke him up and told him to cool off at the pool.

"Mr Daley, how are your lungs feeling right now?"

"Oh, my lungs are fine, it's just that they felt a bit heavy right now."

"That also normal do you feel dizzy?"

"Now that you mention it, I was when I left the oxygen tent."

"That is also normal, that is why we put your body in this pool. It compresses the oxygen in your body and distributes all over your body evenly."

"Are there any other side effects you are feeling?"

"No."

"Okay, that's great when the timer rings, out please head to the office where you did your first test. The head medic personnel will give you the rundown of your health stats." The medic personnel stood up with his clipboard.

Westminster doesn't play when it comes to checking its players' health.

Winston saw that he wasn't the only one at the pool, some teammates were coming in. When he looked around, he saw that some youth players seemed like they knew each other judging by how they treat each other. They were busy joking and teasing each other.

Beep beep beep

Time to get out.

As Winston approached the lead medic's office, he overheard voices, but couldn't discern their conversation before he departed.

shoosh!

"Come on in, Mr Daley, we were expecting you." Winston walked inside the room and saw a man wearing tracksuit sitting on a plastic chair flipping through the pages Winston instantly recognised him as the head strikers coach.

"Oh yes, Coach."

"Mmm!"

"Please take a seat. Your vital signs are normal, you seem to be in good shape. And we didn't find any drugs in your system that can cause any problem with the federation body." Before the medic personnel could continue talking. The head striker coach cuts in with his sharp tongue. That startled Winston. "But your stats are sheit boy, I am comparing them here, the one when you came in and the recent one. What happened?" medic personnel interject. "Mr. Daley has been out for two weeks recovering, maybe his muscles haven't gotten used to moving. That why we should not compare the two"

"That rubbish Maximilian played better out there. Frankly, I wonder how you played in the league with the seniors." The head striker coach stood up and leaned on the table, putting the papers on the table. "I need to see improvement before I can recommend you to play in the next match. On the training ground your form was dismal and mediocre at best."

Winston clutched his hand into a fist. The head striker coach's words seemed harsh, but the reality is Winston knew that he needed to improve since he saw how Maximilian was playing in training today.

"We don't need a striker who will drag the team back. We need someone who will take us to the Under twenty-one champion league." The last words the head coach spoke made Winston an outer body experience that sank his heart. Winston lowered his head and held his tears. And today was the day he vowed to himself that he will be the best striker in the team, heck, he will be the best player in the under twenty-one league.

When Winston was exiting the building, a familiar figure was standing with his kit bag hanging on his shoulders. "You took so long I thought they wouldn't let you out."

Winston turned his head to see Oswin offering him a brief salute. "You know, they love taking their time," Winston said, stretching his arms. It had been hours since he had been inside so when he looked at the sun it blinded him—that he started putting his hand to his forehead blocking the sun.

"Why are you still here? I thought you left early like most of our teammates."

"Nah, I needed some more exercise and a bit of sonar. I have to keep my body fit for the ladies and myself fit too." Oswin said doing a bodybuilder pose.

"C'mon, I know a spot that has the best food, it's around the corner."

"How did you know about my positioning anyway?"

"Oh, about that, the coach posted a roster in his office, and I happened to look at it when I was lost. And I saw your file and your rival."

Oswin opened the door to a shop bakery located downtown near the training ground. The small shop had few people inside. "Ayooo, we are hungry—anybody running the shop," said Oswin, knocking on the glass that displays different pastries from meat pies to sweet pies. "My apologies, I'm on my way," a lovely, dark-skinned girl with a figure like an hourglass appeared from the kitchen, wearing an apron. Struck by the girl's beauty, Winston's eyes stuck on the young who smiled at them, and she quickly clicked her tongue when she saw it was Oswin.

"Oh, It's you. I hope this time you will pay on time for your food." Oswin smiled, surprised by the interaction between the two. Winston felt out of place until Oswin introduced him.

"Winston Daley, Busisiwe Bowen. Busisiwe Bowen, Winston Daley. I will take two classic pies and one slice of apple pie today, training made me hungry. Ayoo Winston, what do you want?" Oswin who was still talking. Winston and Busisiwe were still stuck in the introduction phase.

"Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too"

"Don't mind him, when he is hungry, his stomach talks more than him. What can I get you?"

Winston, still stuck on Busisiwe's beauty, quickly snapped himself out. "One classic pie."

"Anything to drink with your pie?"

"Any soft drink is fine with me."

Oswin saw how Winston was looking at Busisiwe, "Ain't you gonna ask me what I would drink." Busisiwe quickly replied, "Let me guess, a Coca-Cola can, zero sugar."

After paying and eating, Winston focused on Oswin's continued conversation. He then glanced at the counter and remained captivated by Busisiwe. Oswin snapped Winston back, "You should ask her number, you've been looking at her for a while now."

"Huh?"

"Bro, you've been looking at Busisiwe for a while now, go talk to her."

"Aren't she your girl?"

"Hehehe No. We were schoolmates in high school, and besides, she is not my type. I have been messing with this girl on social media. Beautiful babe. She has big knockers and has that thang."

"Maybe later for now I want to focus on my upcoming games."

"Alright, man, let's get out of here."
