Chapter 3 - FIRST IMPRESSION

"Show them what you can do," she whispered to herself, encouraging her spirit.

The next day, Inka woke up with new enthusiasm. Today, she would meet Mr. Wijaya, CEO of PT. Adhikarya Cipta Manunggal, directly to discuss contract details and begin the onboarding process. She wore an elegant navy blue knee-length dress paired with matching heels. Her hair was neatly styled, giving a professional impression while still exuding a young and fresh aura.

Upon arriving at the lobby of PT. Adhikarya Cipta Manunggal, Inka was impressed by its modern and luxurious interior design. She was greeted by a friendly receptionist and directed to the top floor, where Mr. Wijaya's office was located.

In front of Mr. Wijaya's office door, Inka took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. She knocked politely and heard a deep voice from inside telling her to come in.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Wijaya," Inka greeted with a sweet smile.

"Good afternoon, Malinka. Please have a seat," Mr. Wijaya replied, gesturing for Inka to sit in the chair across from him.

Mr. Wijaya was a charismatic middle-aged man. His gaze was sharp yet friendly. He was a highly respected figure in Indonesia's architecture industry.

"I'm very glad you accepted our offer, Malinka. We really need young talents like you," Mr. Wijaya said with a smile.

"Thank you, sir. I also feel honored to join PT. Adhikarya Cipta Manunggal," Inka replied sincerely.

After discussing contract details and several other technical matters, Mr. Wijaya said, "Malinka, I want to assign you to join the project team for The Emerald Oasis."

Inka furrowed her brow. "The Emerald Oasis project? Isn't that the luxury hotel & resort in Bali that's been making headlines lately?"

Mr. Wijaya nodded. "That's right. This project is very important for the company. As you know, PT. Adhikarya Cipta Manunggal is collaborating with the Brahmanto Group to develop this resort. Therefore, we need the best talents to ensure the project runs smoothly."

"But sir, I just joined. Am I competent enough to handle a project this big?" Inka asked, doubtfully.

"I believe in your abilities, Malinka. I've seen your portfolio and I'm very impressed with your innovative and bold designs. Additionally, you'll be working with a solid and experienced team. You have nothing to worry about," Mr. Wijaya said reassuringly. "Given that the Brahmanto Group is the main stakeholder, the project team leader is a representative from the Brahmanto family."

"Who is the project team leader, sir?" Inka asked, curiously.

Mr. Wijaya smiled. "The project team leader is... Bintang Adji Brahmanto."

Inka's heart beat rapidly. Bintang Adji Brahmanto. The name sounded familiar. She tried to remember where she had heard it before. Suddenly, she recalled her conversation with Ms. Intan the previous night. Mr. Adji... Ms. Intan's husband.

Inka was extremely surprised. She never expected to meet her own brother-in-law at her new workplace. Moreover, she would be working with him on such an important project.

"Is... is Mr. Bintang Adji Brahmanto...," Inka trailed off, trying to find the right words.

Mr. Wijaya smiled understandingly. "Bintang Adji Brahmanto, Director of the Brahmanto Group."

Inka nodded, trying to compose herself. "Of course, sir. I will do my best."

"Good. In that case, let's meet Mr. Bintang now," Mr. Wijaya said as he stood up and walked toward the door.

Inka followed Mr. Wijaya with slightly hesitant steps. They walked down a long corridor and eventually stopped in front of a large office door made of teak wood. The door displayed the name "Bintang Adji Brahmanto, Director of the Brahmanto Group."

Mr. Wijaya knocked on the door and a deep voice from inside told them to come in.

The room was very spacious and luxurious. In one corner stood a large desk with several stacks of documents. Behind the desk sat a man in a gray suit who looked very dignified. The man was Bintang Adji Brahmanto.

Adji looked up and stared at Inka with a gaze that made her heart beat even faster. There was surprise, admiration, and a hint of nervousness in his eyes.

"Good afternoon, Adji. I'd like to introduce Malinka, a talented young architect who has just joined our team," Mr. Wijaya said with a smile.

Adji stood up from his chair, a professional smile on his face. However, Inka could see a slight blush on his cheeks.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Wijaya. Welcome to The Emerald Oasis team, Malinka," Adji greeted, shaking Inka's hand firmly. The touch of Adji's hand made Inka slightly startled.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Adji," Inka replied, trying to stay as calm as possible.

"I'm sure you two will make a great team. Adji, Malinka has very fresh and innovative ideas. I hope you can provide her with proper guidance and direction," Mr. Wijaya said, patting Adji on the shoulder.

"Of course, sir. I will be happy to share my experience with Malinka," Adji replied, looking at Inka with a hard-to-read expression.

"Well then, I'll take my leave now. I'll leave Malinka to you, Adji. I'm sure you two can discuss the project further," Mr. Wijaya said, then said his goodbyes and left the room.

The atmosphere in the room became silent after Mr. Wijaya left. Only Inka and Adji were there. Inka felt a little awkward and nervous. She didn't know where to start the conversation.

Adji smiled, trying to break the silence. "So, Inka... welcome to the Brahmanto family and PT. Adhikarya Cipta Manunggal," Adji said in a more relaxed tone.

"Thank you, Mr. Adji," Inka replied, still speaking formally.

"Don't call me Mr. Adji. Just call me Mas Adji. We're family after all," Adji said, chuckling softly.

Inka was silent for a moment. "Alright... Mas Adji," Inka finally replied.

"There we go, that's better. Now, let's talk about The Emerald Oasis. I've seen your portfolio, and I'm very impressed with your designs. I'm sure you'll make a significant contribution to this project," Adji said as he walked toward his large desk.

Inka followed Adji with slightly hesitant steps. She observed every detail of the room. Everything looked perfect and organized.

"Please have a seat," Adji said, gesturing for Inka to sit in one of the chairs in front of his desk.

Inka sat carefully. She felt a little tense being in the room alone with Mas Adji.

Adji opened a large folder containing design drawings of The Emerald Oasis resort. He began explaining the resort's basic concept, target market, and potential challenges that might be faced.

Inka listened attentively. She tried to understand Adji's vision for the resort. She also tried to offer her creative ideas, albeit with some hesitation.

"I really like your idea, Inka. It's very fresh and innovative. I'm sure it will make this resort even more attractive," Adji said with a smile.

Inka felt relieved hearing the praise. She felt more confident to share her other ideas.
