This is my first time putting a story like this out into the world, so before anything else—thank you. Thank you for clicking, for reading, and for giving a new writer the benefit of your time.
Valerian Nightseeker was born from a long love of tabletop games, late nights buried in rulebooks, and that quiet moment when a character stops feeling like a collection of stats and starts feeling alive. It's also shaped by questions that have stuck with me for years:
What happens when someone who understands the rules of a world better than most is forced to live inside them?What if knowledge isn't freedom—but responsibility?And what does morality look like when magic is precise, lethal, and unforgiving?
Valerian is not meant to be a simple power fantasy. He is capable, educated, and dangerous—but every spell cast, every ward raised, and every choice made has consequences. This is a story about preparation, restraint, and the burden of knowing what should work… only to face the cost when it doesn't.
You'll find magic here—structured, studied, and sometimes terrifying. You'll find systems and inspirations drawn from D&D and similar worlds. But you'll also find isolation, doubt, quiet moments of fear, and the weight of standing alone when there's no party to share the blame.
I'm learning as I write. My style will grow. The pacing may change. Some chapters will focus on action, others on thought and aftermath. That's part of the journey—for Valerian, and for me.
