Chapter 3 - Raiders Guild

Lionel and the rest of the Dragon's Breath members began walking from where they were standing toward the entrance of the Raiders Guild.

From the entrance, a long road stretched forward. Street lights stood at every corner of the road, their pale glow illuminating the path. On both the left and right sides of the road lay wide patches of clear green grass, trimmed carefully like a garden maintained by diligent hands.

The group walked along the quiet road.

After passing the long stretch of grassland, the scenery gradually changed. Small buildings began to appear first, followed by larger ones. Soon there were stores, shopping halls, and towering structures that rose high into the sky like giants watching over the city.

It was night, yet the entire street remained bright.

Lights shone from windows, lanterns hung from posts, and glowing signs decorated the buildings. Despite the brightness, the atmosphere was calm and quiet. Only a few people could be seen passing by, their footsteps soft against the paved streets.

Lionel and the rest of his squad continued forward in silence.

Their destination stood clearly ahead of them a tall skyscraper that dominated the area.

On the front of the building, large bold letters were written:

RAIDERS LODGING AND ACCOMMODATION

The towering structure rose above the surrounding buildings, its many windows glowing faintly in the night.

Lionel led the Dragon's Breath members toward the entrance.

Lionel removed a Raider's License from his pocket. The license had the shape of a card and was purple in color. Inside the card, a glowing purple light moved continuously from one end to the other.

He used the card to swipe across the glass door.

The door opened immediately.

It did not open like an ordinary door. Instead, it separated instantly, splitting apart with a soft sliding sound. The noise was not loud. As soon as the card touched the door, it produced a sound like a loose scroll unrolling before separating to create a path wide enough for Lionel and his squad.

They entered the building, and the door closed behind them.

Inside, the place resembled a large hall.

The receptionist's office was located on the left side of the reception hall. There was also a door at the back of the office. The office itself was shaped like a curve, almost like the letter "C." There was no way to enter or exit it from the front.

On the right side of the hall, several chairs were arranged around a fancy table placed at the center. The area resembled a wide living room, with enough chairs and tables to accommodate many Raiders.

Elegant lights hung from the ceiling, illuminating the entire hall. At the far ends of the hall, air conditioners were installed on both sides. There were no windows or fans.

On the left side of the hall, the receptionist sat quietly, writing in a book.

Lionel walked toward her, while Reinhard and the rest of the Dragon's Breath squad followed behind him.

"I would like to book a room for our newest member," Lionel said, turning his head toward Urue Everhour.

The receptionist raised her head and looked at Lionel.

"Is he a Raider?" she asked.

Lionel replied, "No, he isn't. He will be taking the evaluation test tomorrow. I just want a room for him for today."

Lionel smiled.

"If he isn't a Raider, you know I can't give him a room. Why don't you just go lodge somewhere else?"

The receptionist smiled as she picked up a hairband from the glass table. She began tying her long black hair, preparing to fasten the hairband.

"How much will it cost me to book a room?" Lionel asked.

"What makes you think I will give you a room?" she replied calmly, placing her hands on the table.

Urue Everhour, who was standing behind Lionel, shook his head slightly. The rest of the Raiders remained expressionless.

"Don't play games with me," Lionel said. His face now carried a serious expression.

The receptionist paused for a moment.

"Room 28B. Second floor."

She reached into her desk and brought out a blue card, handing it to Lionel.

"Bring it back first thing in the morning. The room costs twenty gold coins."

Lionel clenched his hand.

Purple rings suddenly appeared on all his fingers.

He raised his right hand above the desk and slowly opened his fist.

Ten gold coins fell onto the desk.

"This is ten gold coins," Lionel said. "This is all I have."

There were no markings on the coins no faces, no symbols, nothing.

The receptionist picked them up and inspected them carefully. After checking, she found nothing wrong with the coins.

Five yellow rings appeared on the fingers of her right hand, and she stored the coins inside one of the rings.

She then looked at Lionel and said calmly,

"You can all go now."

Behind him, Urue Everhour let out a quiet sigh.

Lionel handed the card to Urue Everhour and said, "Go find your room. We will meet here first thing in the morning."

Urue Everhour took the card. Without saying anything, he turned and walked toward the staircase.

He climbed the steps and soon disappeared from their sight.
