Chapter 1 - My start

The day started with bright sun in a cloudless sky. Sounds ordinary, right? Well, wait till you hear what my life is like. I lived in this apartment in New York City. Let me tell you what my day consists of on a daily basis.

"You useless child!" My mother screamed at me, throwing a glass cup at a wall, just missing my head. I barely give any reaction anymore from how often this has happened. "You were born a woman, Jessica! Enough with this nonbinary Jericho bullshit! You are what you are born as!

"Pathetic, we shouldn't have had her." My father said while I was just getting to work, cleaning up. I dressed how I wanted, and it only made their mood worse. Over the years since I graduated high school a few years ago, my parents have been taking every paycheck I have ever gotten since I got a job.

My only escape is reading about those Y/N x Boss stories and seeing how shit it is. Then watching those clips is just as entertaining. On the few days I have to myself, I have headphones in and wander. I could hear muffled voices around me as I crossed the street. Then I felt like the muffles were screaming. I looked to the side and saw it for a split second before a semi truck sent me flying head-on. I was in pain everywhere. I couldn't breathe without being in pain. I couldn't beg for help, blood kept spurting out, and I gagged on the liquid that wouldn't stop. Then everything around me turned dark. When I opened my eyes, everything felt sore, and the surrounding room was dark. I sat up, groaning in pain. I had to stop mid-way, because my head was spinning badly.

"Oh, fuck, my head, ow," I held my head, my vision spinning. I stayed sitting for a while, my body in too much pain from just getting hit by a semi truck, but not being in many bloody pieces on the ground. I slowly got up, my legs shaking for a moment before going steady. I looked around. It was just a box. A big. Dark. Box. That I am inside right now. I didn't even know I got in here to begin with.

"Greetings," A voice came from behind me, and from the adrenaline scare, I turned and kicked high. My heel made contact with this white robotic person-looking thing on the screen, completely cracking the screen. "Ow!"

The being stumbled backward, holding its screen for a face.

"What the hell are you?!" Is aid, my leg is throbbing now, and I almost fell over.

"I am the rebirth system," The system, I guess it's called, said while its face refigred together. "I am going to get you a new life."

"In exchange for what?" I asked, flinching as my legs thrubbed from the phantom pain of getting hit by a semi truck before this. "Nothing is ever free in life."

"Nothing, just don't mention the truth about what happened to you." The system said, snapped its fingers, and everything went black again. I was really tired of my vision going black this god damn often. When my eyes opened again, it was a bright light. When I went to say turn off the lights, all that I heard was a baby's noise. Wait, did I get put in a baby's place?

"Hey Jessy," a woman's tearful voice came from above me. When the bright light cleared, above me was a stoic woman, but her eyes had tears, and a kind, real love in them. Beside her was a man barely keeping himself from crying.

"She's perfect," He said, looking at me like he found something incredible. I could only just look up at them, confused why they would even see that in me, or that parents like them are real. They adored me, even when I was only in a body that wasn't even capable of doing anything. Maybe this new life is better than what I was expecting here. My new parents continued to praise me, holding back tears, and being careful with my tiny body. I actually started crying. My new parents hushed me and coddled me. For the first time since my first breath and memory, I felt truly happy to exist in life. Eventually, the nurses came in, but my parents kept the birth name and gender blank, saying they wanted me to choose for myself what my permanent name will be, and what I want to be for the rest of my life. Wow, I really hit the jackpot in this new family. My parents held me, stayed close to me and loved me. They wanted me to feel every strand of love they could give me when they could.
