Chapter 37 - Lancy Fogg

Elena came back to her room and sat down with Lyra to have dinner.

She started eating calmly like nothing had happened.

Lyra watched her for a few seconds and then spoke in a teasing tone.

"So… your male lead just left angrily a while ago."

Elena kept eating and replied without even stopping,

"It's fine. He'll calm down on his own."

Lyra looked at her in disbelief.

"Wow. How rude, Elena," she said dramatically. "If he finds out the truth, his heart will break."

Elena smiled slightly and took another bite of food.

"It's okay," she said casually. "I usually break bones anyway. If a few hearts break too, it's not a big problem."

Lyra immediately laughed.

"Elena! You are so mean."

Then she leaned on the table, smiling.

"But I like it."

Elena didn't say anything after that.

She just smiled quietly and continued eating her dinner, while Lyra kept looking at her like she was watching a very entertaining drama.

.....

The next morning, Elena arrived at the studio for her advertisement shoot.

The place was already busy. Staff members were moving around, cameras were being adjusted, lights were being tested, and the director was loudly explaining something to the crew.

The moment Elena walked in, a few staff members greeted her.

"Good morning, Miss Elena."

Elena nodded politely. "Good morning."

Lyra quickly walked over and handed her the schedule.

"Your shoot will start in ten minutes," she said.

Elena simply nodded and went to the makeup room.

Inside, the makeup artist started working while the stylist prepared the outfit for the advertisement. Elena sat quietly, letting them do their job like someone who had done this hundreds of times before.

After a few minutes, everything was ready.

Elena walked onto the set.

The director immediately noticed her.

"Alright everyone, get ready!" he said loudly. "We'll start with the first scene."

The camera was set in front of her while the lights were adjusted.

The advertisement was simple. Elena only needed to walk toward the camera, pick up the product, and give a natural smile.

"Camera ready?" the director asked.

"Ready!"

"Lights?"

"Ready!"

The director looked at Elena.

"Action."

Elena instantly switched into work mode.

Her posture changed, her expression softened, and she walked forward naturally as if the camera didn't even exist. She picked up the product smoothly and smiled at the camera.

It looked effortless.

"Cut!"

The director checked the monitor for a moment and then nodded with satisfaction.

"Perfect. Let's do one more take."

Around the set, a few staff members whispered to each other.

"She really makes it look easy."

Meanwhile, Elena simply stood there calmly, waiting for the next instruction like this was just another normal day for her.

The studio was still busy with Elena's advertisement shoot.

Cameras were rolling, lights were bright, and the crew kept moving around the set like busy ants.

"Action!"

Elena walked forward naturally, picked up the product, and gave a soft smile to the camera.

"Cut!"

"Perfect!" the director said happily.

Not far from the set, another actress was watching the whole thing.

It was Lancy Fog, a very famous actress in the industry.

Unlike many celebrities, she was known for being extremely kind, simple… and a little bit childlike.

At this moment, she was standing there with sparkling eyes while watching Elena shoot.

"Wow…" Lancy whispered.

She lightly tugged her assistant's sleeve.

"Rose, look at her!"

Rose looked up from the tablet in his hand and glanced toward Elena.

Lancy pointed at Elena like an excited fan.

"She's doing so well!"

Rose nodded calmly. "Yes, she is."

Then he checked the schedule and said, "Your shoot will start again in about thirty minutes. You should go rest in the waiting room."

But Lancy didn't even listen.

Her eyes were still shining as she looked at Elena.

"No."

Rose already had a bad feeling.

Lancy raised her hand and pointed directly at Elena.

"I'm going there."

Rose: "…"

He slowly closed his eyes.

He knew this was coming.

"Miss Lancy," he said tiredly, "please remember you're a famous actress, not a fan at a meet-and-greet."

But Lancy had already started walking.

Rose watched her go with a helpless expression and shook his head.

"Here we go again…"

Then he sighed and went back to handling the rest of the work.

Meanwhile…

Elena had just finished another shot and was sitting on a chair while the staff adjusted the lights again.

Suddenly—

Someone quietly sat down next to her.

Elena turned her head.

A girl with bright, sparkling eyes was looking at her like she had just discovered something amazing.

"Hi!" Lancy said cheerfully.

Elena blinked once.

Lancy leaned a little closer and spoke excitedly,

"I just watched your shoot. You looked so good!"

Elena smiled politely.

"Thank you."

Lancy looked even happier after hearing that.

Then, with the seriousness of someone about to ask a very important question, she said,

"Can I add you on WeChat?"

Elena paused.

Her eyes showed a little confusion.

Seeing that expression, Lancy immediately waved her hands nervously.

"Ah! Don't misunderstand!" she said quickly. "I'm not weird or anything."

She pointed at Elena again.

"I just think you're really nice… so I want to be friends with you. That's why I asked for your WeChat ID."

She looked at Elena with hopeful, shining eyes.

Like a small puppy waiting for approval.

Elena looked at Lancy for a moment.

The girl's eyes were bright and clear, almost sparkling with excitement. There was no jealousy, no hidden calculation, and definitely no bad intention in them. Just pure, honest admiration.

Elena could easily tell.

After a short pause, she gave a small nod.

"Okay."

She took out her phone and opened WeChat, showing her ID.

The moment Lancy saw it, her face immediately brightened like a child who had just received candy.

"Really?!"

She quickly took out her own phone and added Elena before she could change her mind.

"Done!" she said happily, holding the phone like it was some great achievement.

Then she looked at Elena again with shining eyes.

"You know something?"

Elena raised her eyes slightly.

"When I first saw you just now… I liked you immediately."

Her tone was very sincere.

There was absolutely no hesitation in her words.

Elena blinked once, a little surprised by how direct she was.

But before she could reply—

A voice suddenly came from behind them.

"Ohhh~ Miss Lancy… what are you doing here?"

The tone was playful… but also clearly mocking.

Both girls turned their heads.

Lyra had just returned.

She was standing there with one eyebrow raised and a small amused smile on her face, clearly having witnessed enough to understand something interesting was happening.

Lancy's expression immediately changed when she saw her.

Her eyebrows slightly frowned.

"You?" she said in an annoyed tone. "Why are you here?"

Lyra crossed her arms casually.

"I'm here with my artist," she replied calmly.

Then she pointed directly at Elena.

"Elena is my artist."

Her tone was proud.

Very proud.

And just a tiny bit arrogant.

For a moment—

Lancy froze.

Her brain clearly needed a few seconds to process the sentence.

"…What?"

She looked at Lyra.

Then slowly turned her head toward Elena.

Then back at Lyra again.

"You're joking… right?"

Lyra simply smiled without answering.

Which was basically confirmation.

Lancy suddenly leaned toward Elena in panic and grabbed her arm dramatically.

"Beauty," she said urgently, "tell me she's lying."

Her eyes were wide with hope.

"Please tell me this dumb girl has nothing to do with you."

Elena: "…"

The situation had taken such a sudden turn that she hadn't even fully reacted yet.

Just a minute ago they were peacefully exchanging WeChat IDs.

Now suddenly it had turned into… whatever this was.

She looked at Lancy's innocent eyes.

Then slowly nodded.

"Yes."

Silence.

Absolute silence.

Lancy stared at her.

Her expression slowly cracked like someone had just told her a shocking secret about the world.

"No way…"

Then she slowly sat down on the chair beside Elena.

Her posture looked like her soul had temporarily left her body.

"Impossible…"

Meanwhile Lyra watched the whole scene with great satisfaction.

A small victorious smile appeared on her face.

"Well?" she said smugly. "Do you believe it now?"

She waved her hand casually.

"Good. Then you can go now."

Lancy slowly turned her head toward her.

Her expression suddenly changed.

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

"Why should I go?" she said in an aggressive tone.

Then she pointed proudly at Elena.

"If Elena is your artist…"

She lifted her chin.

"Then she's my friend."

Lyra almost laughed.

"Oh please," she said. "When did that happen? Don't randomly claim friendships."

Lancy immediately laughed.

"It happened just now!"

She pointed at the door behind Lyra.

"While you were outside!"

Then she scooted her chair closer to Elena again like she had officially decided this was her seat forever.

She even proudly lifted her phone and waved it in front of Lyra.

"Look!"

She opened WeChat.

"Elena and I are already friends. We exchanged our WeChat IDs."

Lyra: "…"

For a moment she was actually speechless.

Then she looked at Elena.

Then at Lancy.

Then back at Elena again.

Her expression clearly said: I left for ten minutes. TEN.

Meanwhile Elena sat quietly between them.

One looked proud like she had just won something.

The other looked annoyed but amused.

And Elena suddenly felt like she had somehow become the center of a very strange… very noisy friendship.
