Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

The early morning fog was still clinging to the tree trunks as Akira stepped into the dense forest just beyond the compound perimeter. Hanging from his arm was a small woven basket, bought specifically for foraging fresh ingredients.

Beside him, Snowy, his white-furred hawk, perched impatiently on a sturdy wooden branch, while Po, the chunky young panda, waddled along the mossy path, nose pressed to the damp soil.

"Alright, you two," Akira said softly, stretching his arms in the crisp morning air. "Let's make this quick before the sun gets too high."

Po let out a soft, lazy grunt in response, while Snowy ruffled her feathers eagerly.

Akira pulled a smooth, carved wooden disk from his pouch and flicked his wrist. The disk whizzed through the canopy in a wide, arching curve.

Swoosh!

Snowy launched herself into the air like a white streak, catching the wooden disc cleanly in her talons mid-flight before dropping back down to land gracefully on Akira's outstretched arm.

"Good catch, Snowy," Akira murmured, giving her head a gentle pat and tossing her a small strip of dried meat. "Always sharp."

A few paces away, Po let out another grunt, sitting down heavily in a patch of wild green shoots. He sniffed a dark leaf, patted it twice with a broad paw, and looked up at Akira with round, expectant eyes.

Akira walked over, kneeling beside the young panda. "What did you find, buddy?" He inspected the leaves closely. "Wild forest garlic and mountain potatoes... Perfect. Good eye, Po."

Akira carefully dug up the roots and herbs, placing them into his basket alongside a few fresh vegetables they had gathered along the way. "That's more than enough for breakfast. Let's head back home."

The house was peaceful and silent when they returned.

Hyūga Ren was absent today—her father had been officially released late last night following Lord Hizashi's direct intervention. Akira had given her a full day off so her family could enjoy their long-awaited reunion.

"Just us today, huh?" Akira said to his pets as he set the basket on the wooden kitchen counter.

Without Ren handling the kitchen, Akira rolled up his sleeves and set to work. Using the fresh mountain potatoes and forest garlic, he whipped up a pot of warm potato curry, pairing it with steamed rice and a few thick slices of lightly toasted bread.

He set down a small plate of veggies for Po and a piece of raw meat for Snowy before sitting down to enjoy his own meal. "Not bad if I say so myself," he muttered, taking a warm bite of curry.

After finishing breakfast and packing his lunch, he grabbed his canvas backpack, gave both pets a quick pat on the head, and headed out for the Academy.

Classroom 3A was noisy as usual when Akira walked in.

"Good morning, Akira!" Yuki called out from her seat, waving energetically as her ponytail bounced.

"Morning, Yuki-san," Akira replied with a polite nod, sliding into his desk beside her.

Taking his seat near the back, he reached into his bag and pulled out a pristine, fresh scroll containing the copied formula for the Five Elements Ground Suppression Seal, alongside a brand-new leather notebook.

"What's that?" Yuki asked, leaning over curiously to peek at the intricate ink lines on the parchment. "Looks super complicated. Is that for history class?"

"Just some light reading," Akira said with a small smile, unrolling the scroll slightly. "Don't worry about it."

"You're weird, Akira," Yuki giggled, shaking her head before turning back to talk to her friends.

As Daichi-sensei walked in and started his usual dry lecture, Akira tuned out the ambient noise. Unrolling the full scroll, he pulled out his ink pen and began systematically dismantling the complex A-rank technique.

The Five Elements Ground Suppression Seal was an ancient, high-grade array dating back to the Warring States Era, created by a legendary sealing master named Ko Iroha. The technique utilized five elemental chakra nodes to project a heavy, localized suppression dome, making every movement within its perimeter feel like wading through thick mud. Ko Iroha had scored dozens of battle victories using this very seal until he crossed paths with an ancient Hyūga ancestor—a master of the Gentle Fist who relied purely on physical speed, precise internal chakra strike points, and raw taijutsu to shatter the seal's core nodes before the suppression field could settle.

Akira began deconstructing the formula, systematically peeling away layer after layer. He started with the Water-element chakra seals before working his way through the remaining elements, eventually stripping the complex array down to a raw total of 170 individual Fūinjutsu seals.

From there, he filtered out the mundane seals responsible for transmitting chakra and maintaining basic structural balance. When he narrowed down the core, he was left with just five special seals. One carried a distinct, light Earth-chakra nature, while the other four held distinct, specialized elemental traits.

A joyful smile broke across Akira's face as he penned these crucial discoveries into his notebook.

If high-ranking Sealing Masters were to witness a six-year-old single-handedly decipher and strip down a legendary A-rank sealing technique in a classroom, they would be completely dumbfounded. Normally, breaking down an A-rank seal required a specialized team of veteran experts and months of painstaking analysis.

"Alright class, that's it for this morning! Enjoy your break," Daichi-sensei's voice suddenly broke through his focus.

Akira blinked, surprised to hear the noon bell ringing. The morning had flown by in an instant. He happily closed his notebook and rolled up his scroll, sliding them back into his bag.

Chirp.

"Whoa, you were totally zoned out!" Yuki said, turning her stool around and setting a small wooden bento on her desk. "You didn't move for two whole hours!"

Akira laughed softly, rubbing the back of his neck. "I guess I lost track of time."

"Well, lunch time is way more important," Yuki grinned, popping open her bento lid to reveal plump, freshly made rice balls wrapped in seaweed. "Look! My mom made way too many onigiri today. Take one!"

"Are you sure?" Akira asked, unzipping his own lunchbox, revealing his warm potato curry and rice. "Thank you, Yuki-san. Here, try some of my curry. I made it fresh this morning with wild herbs."

Yuki's eyes lit up as she traded an onigiri for a spoonful of curry. "Mmm! Wow, Akira, this is actually amazing! You cook better than my big brother!"

"I'll take that as a huge compliment," Akira chuckled, taking a bite of the delicious onigiri.

The two chatted comfortably about simple everyday things—complaining about Daichi-sensei's long homework assignments and talking about upcoming taijutsu drills—enjoying the quiet warmth of the afternoon break together.
