Chapter 7 - CP:7 We're Back To Breeding?!

Half an hour later, Naga carried Alex in his arm and head out of the cave.

The sun was higher now, filtering through the massive canopy in dappled gold. Naga moved through the forest like he owned it (which, Alex suspected, he kind of did). Animals and other beastmen avoided him like he's some kind of plague.

His powerful coils rippled over roots and fallen logs without a sound, while his upper body stayed perfectly upright, cradling Alex against his chest like he weighed nothing.

Alex had tried to protest the princess-carry at first.

"I have legs, you know. Functional ones. Mostly."

Naga had simply tightened his hold and hissed, "You are sore. You will rest."

End of discussion.

So here they were: Alex in his brand-new system-bought white linen shirt and loose pants (soft, breathable, and suspiciously well-fitted for something purchased with imaginary cat currency in 20 SP), curled against a half-snake demigod. Every so often Naga's forked tongue would flick out, tasting the air, then brush lightly against Alex's curls like he couldn't help himself.

Alex's face was approximately the color of a ripe tomato.

[System: Aww, look at you two. Already acting like an old married couple. 10/10 domestic vibes.~♡]

"Shut up," Alex muttered into Naga's shoulder.

Naga tilted his head down. "Did the spirit cat speak again?"

"Yeah. It's being smug."

Naga's chest rumbled with what might have been a laugh. "Tell your spirit cat that if it annoys you, I will eat it."

[System: Rude! I'm incorporeal, thank you very much. Also, your hubby is scary-hot when he's protective. Approved.]

Alex groaned. "Both of you stop."

They traveled in silence for a while after that, the forest growing denser and stranger the deeper they went. Vines thicker than Alex's torso hung like curtains. Flowers the size of umbrellas bloomed in impossible colors.

Once, a herd of deer-like creatures with crystalline antlers paused to stare at them before bounding away.

Eventually the trees began to thin, revealing a massive rocky cliff face covered in cascading vines and moss. A hidden waterfall spilled down one side into a clear pool. And built into the cliff itself—half natural cave, half carved architecture—was Naga's home.

It was stunning.

Smooth stone steps spiraled upward to a wide entrance framed by glowing blue fungi. Inside, the air was cool and fresh, scented with water and earth. Sunlight streamed through natural skylights, illuminating chambers that opened into one another like the coils of a snake.

Soft pelts and woven mats covered the floors. Shelves carved into the walls held polished stones, dried herbs, and what looked suspiciously like treasure—gold, gems, ancient-looking weapons.

Naga carried Alex straight to what was clearly the main living area: a huge, circular chamber with a sunken fire pit, piles of furs that looked like cloud beds, and a natural hot spring bubbling gently in one corner.

He set Alex down carefully on the edge of the largest fur pile, then coiled around him like a living barricade.

"Home," Naga said simply, pride evident in his voice. "Safe. Mine. Now yours."

Alex looked around, mouth slightly open. "This is… actually really nice. Like five-star Airbnb but with more snake."

Naga preened.

Then he slithered over to a stone chest carved with serpent motifs, opened it with a hiss of satisfaction, and withdrew something wrapped in dark silk.

He returned and carefully unfolded the cloth.

Inside was a fist-sized crystal, perfectly black, yet somehow full of movement—like liquid shadow swirling inside obsidian. When the light hit it, faint green veins pulsed deep within.

"The Black Crystal of the Serpent Tribe," Naga said solemnly, placing it in Alex's hands. It was warm. Almost alive. "Yours, little mate. As promised."

Alex stared at it, throat suddenly tight.

One down.

Six to go.

He curled his fingers around the stone. It fit perfectly in his palm, like it had been waiting for him.

[System: Quest Item Acquired ×1 – Black Crystal

Progress: 1/7

Reward: +50 SP

Current SP: 260

New title unlocked: "Bearer of the First Stone"

Bonus: Slight resistance to mental coercion from other apex beastmen. You're gonna need it.]

Alex exhaled shakily. "Thank you," he told Naga, voice soft. "Really."

Naga's eyes softened. He leaned in, pressing their foreheads together. "Anything for my mate."

Then, because apparently Naga had zero chill, he added, "Now you will eat. Then bathe. Then rest. You need to be little more plumpy, you're too skinny. Then I will give you pleasure again until you forget all about other stones."

Alex choked on air. "W-wait, what—"

Naga's smile was slow and full of fang.

"Or," he murmured, tongue flicking out to taste Alex's lower lip, "we begin with pleasure now, and everything else later."

From somewhere in Alex's head, the system cat purred.

[System: Second round incoming~ Don't forget to hydrate, kids.]

Alex yelped like a cartoon character stepping on a Lego, scrambling backward on the fur pile until his back hit Naga's coiled tail. "Whoa, whoa, pump the brakes, Scales McFangs! Food first! Bath second! And pleasure? That's, like, bonus DLC after level 10!"

Naga blinked his emerald eyes, head tilting like a confused puppy in a snake body. "DLC? Is that a mating ritual from your tribe?" His forked tongue flicked out, tasting the air hopefully.

The system cat popped up mid-air, rolling on its back with glowing pink eyes squeezed shut in laughter.

[Pro tip: Buy the 'Condoms of Infinite Holding' from the mall later. Your butt will thank me.]

"NOT HELPING!" Alex whisper-screamed at the cat, face redder than a stoplight. He turned to Naga, hands up like surrendering. "Look, big guy, I'm still walking funny from round one. Let's do normal couple stuff first. Like... pancakes? Or whatever passes for breakfast in Snake Airbnb."

Naga's shoulders slumped a tiny bit—adorable for a 20-foot murder noodle—but he nodded seriously. "As my mate wishes. I will hunt." With a dramatic whoosh of scales, he slithered out of the chamber, tail swishing like he was off to slay a dragon for brunch.

Alex flopped back onto the furs, staring at the cave ceiling. "I am living a bad fanfic. A very spicy, very confusing fanfic."

[Fanfic? Ooh, what's the ship name? NagaLex? ScaleMate? Unlock the mall yet? You've got 260 SP—enough for beginner goodies!]

A holographic screen shimmered in front of Alex's eyes like a pop-up ad from hell. System Mall: Welcome, Host! Categories:

Beastman Repellents:-]

Alex scrolled with his mind (weird flex, but okay). "Repellents? Gimme!"

Beastman Repellent Spray: 50 SP. Makes you smell like expired fish to non-mates. Duration: 1 hour. Side effect: Sneezing fits.

"Tempting... but nah. I need survival basics." He bought:

-Healing Salve: 30 SP (for his sore everything).

-Magic Backpack (Infinite Storage): 100 SP(for stones and snacks).

[Total spent: 130 SP. Remaining: 60 SP.]

The items poofed into existence on the furs.

Naga returned five minutes later, coils laden with... fruits? A massive skewer of roasted meat that smelled like heaven? And a fish bigger than Alex's torso.

"Feast for my mate," Naga announced proudly, setting it down by the fire pit. He lit the fire with a snap of claws (magic snake perks), then portioned out a plate-sized slab of meat for Alex.

Alex poked it. "Uh, thanks? What's this?"

"Dire boar. Tender. Nutritious for breeding."

Alex choked on air. "We're back to breeding?!"

Naga grinned, fangs gleaming. "You are basically female. Marked. Fertile. Tribe needs strong cubs."

[System: Fun fact! Naga cubs are born as tiny snakes. Super cute. Super bitey. You'll love it>]

Alex shoveled meat into his mouth to avoid answering. It was delicious—juicy, spiced with weird herbs. "Mmmph good. This meat is so delicious, the best one I've eaten. "
