Chapter 32 - Witnessing Death

As Elion's plan was being carried out, an ambulance appeared on the road, causing everyone to stop what they were doing.

"Did you call an ambulance?" Elion asked the man beside him who was helping him.

"Of course not. We wouldn't do that, but surely someone else who was here earlier did. Who could say for sure? The man was dying before you arrived, so someone probably called."

"Leave that man on the ground." One of the paramedics gave an order, and everyone did as they were told.

After a few observations, Elion immediately realized that all of this medical personnel was disguised.

Assassins are workers; they take jobs from the highest bidder and become enemies of the organizations they attack.

If the identity of the man Elion had saved were exposed, the people hunting him would find him easily, and that was exactly what was happening.

That was why, regardless of whether the mission was completed or not, the assassin's identity had already been exposed, and Elion was right in the middle of all that mess.

That meant he would not complete his mission, and the assassin he was supposed to save was doomed to certain death. And if he died, Elion might be the next one to be killed.

Suddenly, Elion grabbed the arm of the person carrying the stretcher.

The man was startled and instinctively reached for the knife hidden under his clothes. But he quickly realized, after a light cough from someone nearby, that there were still many people watching.

He suppressed his dissatisfaction and instead asked, "Do you need something?"

Elion searched the eyes of the man in front of him and reminded him, "I've already given him first aid, and he should wake up at any moment. I think we should respect his own wishes about whether or not to go to the hospital."

The paramedics, who were assassins, unconsciously looked around; they couldn't stay there much longer.

The real ambulance would arrive soon. Their disguised identities were about to be exposed.

But before leaving, they had to get rid of this kind-hearted man who was kindly concerned about an assassin.

Thinking this, he first looked at his partner, then lifted the stretcher again and prepared to enter the ambulance.

At the same time, he spoke very quickly:

"Your decision doesn't matter; we have to take him to the hospital for a full checkup. Such a serious injury can't be treated with just a small needle. If you're worried, you can come with us!"

Is he trying to kill me too?

Noticing the sudden movement of the assassin's chest, Elion formed a faint smile. He released his grip on the assassin's arm and stepped back several paces.

Noticing that the resistance in his hand had disappeared, the paramedic wondered why Elion had stopped insisting. But suddenly, he felt a chill on the back of his neck, and hot blood gushed out in torrents.

Instinctively, he reached out to cover his neck, but he couldn't stop the blood from flowing.

The stretcher in his hands fell to the ground with a dull thud. With panic in his eyes, he helplessly reached out toward Elion, trying to get Elion to save him.

They couldn't save lives, but Elion clearly knew what he was doing.

But Elion simply stood five steps away from them, watching silently, showing no intention of offering help.

This caused the light in his eyes to fade quickly, and finally his pupils dilated as he fell into true death.

Another companion who was carrying a stretcher met the same fate as him. Suddenly, both paramedics were dead.

This sudden murder instantly caused panic among the crowd.

Screams could be heard everywhere across the scene.

The onlooking crowd fled frantically outward. The culprit of all this was the assassin Elion had treated!

Before Elion had asked other people for help to move his patient elsewhere, he had administered large amounts of morphine and various other medications to awaken the assassin.

That was why, when the paramedics disguised as assassins arrived, his killer instincts made him sense their true purpose. As soon as he regained consciousness, he grabbed a shard of glass from his clothing and cleanly slit the throat of the person in front of him.

Then, while the man behind him was still in shock, he stepped forward and cut his throat as well.

This series of movements was smooth and fluid, without the slightest hesitation, and in that instant, the situation was reversed. This was the difference between a true assassin and a mere errand runner!

The assassin's sinister gaze quickly fell on Elion, who had not yet escaped. His hand, gripping the shards of glass and bleeding profusely, tightened as if he were about to act.

But before he could do anything, Elion revealed his identity. "Alright, it seems my job here is done. I tried to get you to a safe place, but there wasn't enough time. When you call for medical assistance, make sure you're in a safe location. You owe me two coins that I lost asking for help, plus the treatment."

Upon hearing this information, the assassin's vigilance eased slightly. Although he was somewhat dizzy from excessive blood loss, he still remembered having requested emergency medical assistance before losing consciousness.

The two gold coins Elion had spent earlier were meant to take him to a safe place, but now that things had developed this way, the extra lost costs had to be paid.

The assassin knew that Elion's identity was genuine, so he did not attempt to kill him.

Without saying a word, he took five gold coins out of his pocket and tossed them into the pool of blood beside him, then stepped over the bloodstains and walked toward the driver's seat of the ambulance.

In a short time, he dragged the two figures like dead dogs and threw them into the back of the ambulance.

Then, with a slightly pale face, he drove away in the fake ambulance.

Only then did the sound of a real ambulance siren reach them from afar.

Elion picked up the two gold coins from the ground, wiped them on the corpse's clothes, put them into his pocket, and turned around to leave.

As for the subsequent investigations?

Elion had covered his tracks; it was impossible for them to discover him.

There were so many people recording videos that everyone could prove his innocence even if he were discovered. Moreover, all the assassins sent to hunt his patient had been killed.

This meant that Elion would not have any more problems in the future.

But if those problems ever came knocking at his door, Elion believed he could obtain protection from the Continental; after all, he worked for them.
