Chapter 13 - City of Mino, Vincent's joy and sadness

Vincent woke up as he saw a ceiling. His eyes slowly adjusted to the dark. But he saw a figure watching him. He thought he died as death was that close to him in taking his life away.

Now he saw a beautiful petite girl who smiled looking at him.

"Father!"

She hugged him as he sat up on the bed.

"Argh!"

"S-Sorry father!"

"Father....?"

He was confused why this girl was calling him father, he was technically young to have a child. But old in standards that many young boys age of 14 get drafted for war.

Then all of a sudden while he was a bit wary of the petite girl and being in a random room. Her hugging him and her calling him that.

A flood of memories where storming in his mind. His eyes widened, and tears begun to trickle down his face. He saw the girl hugging him currently in those memories. But many "faces" and figures appears but where blacked out. He felt a connection to them too, as he felt his emotions of whatever he felt in those memories come crashing down.

"Father..."

Mordred knew what was happening, she felt her heart wrench pain. She hugged him tightly not wanting to harm him. She felt wetness on her shoulder. She never really saw her father this vulnerable, always showing his strongest and manly side. Pampering her when she was flustered and shy when she grew older.

But always enjoyed it no matter what.

*creak*

The door opened and since they were in a hotel. Nightingale saw Vincent being hugged tightly by Mordred. As he heard the noise, he uttered Mordred's name.

"Mordred...my daughter."

Mordred felt happy about him remembering her, as he turned to see Nightingale. Another trigger of memories happened. His small fights with Nightingale when she was stubborn. Her stoic expression always showing. Making him think in those memories she had no emotion. Until, he got to know of her.

Happy moments arose, then the sad moments of his sacrifice. The challenges and obstacles they faced together. Him being a general while she was the nurse their relationship took a turn. It almost felt comical as Nightingale was the best nurse to offer while he was one of the best leaders to come in history.

"Nightingale...I missed you."

Just like how Vincent called Mordred's name with emotion making Mordred tear up. it was the same for Nightingale. Her heart ached seeing how he suffered in this life. Her emotions broke open as she also hugged him not to tightly since he was still recovering.

"Both of you....how?"

They knew he would question this. They can just say a vague answer to not fully break the contract. They can work around it, Nightingale breathed in his scent. She missed him so much.

"We'll explain, but please let us stay a bit like this. I missed you so much Darling."

He didn't deny her request. He could hear the yearning in her voice.

"Mordred it's good to see you too my dear daughter."

His words made Mordred whimper, as she wept silently. Her heart couldn't handle his soft affectionate words. Hugged by the both of them, he smiled happy to see them again. He didn't know how they were here knowing he died in that life. But he was already forming hypothesis to why they appeared.

No to why he appeared in this world.

'Reincarnation?'

It sounded quite out of this world to be thinking that. But it made more sense, whatever it was. He thanked fate for bringing them here even if he didn't know how they manage to get here. They were breathing, living right in his embrace.

Now they were reunited that's what mattered the most.

"I see....I don't really mind if you can't tell me."

He could see they wanted to say it but aren't able to. Maybe they made a deal with a being incomprehensible to him. It sounded far-fetched but in this world. This life of his he heard of whispers of beings far more powerful than these Xeno's.

Being who can maybe even rival the emperor of mankind. Could be a lie or the truth, Vincent wouldn't know till he sees history of it. He only knew so much about his world.

Nightingale was glad he was understanding that was one of his good traits as a general. He was good in assessing situations.

"Just that someone brought us here that's it..."

Vincent felt like there was a condition to it.

"As long as I have you girls it will be fine."

His words would make them happy, but they knew that it wouldn't be long since their reunion will come to an end. Nightingale felt gloomy thinking about it. As she used his shoulder to lean on. While he caressed the sleeping Mordred on his lap.
