Chapter 26 - 26: The World of Ismael

"I want to say screw Genova, she's dead, and focus on Ler but it's not even about Genova anymore. I need to retain discipline and hard work. I'm getting close, and maybe this will help me in some way to get closer to Ler's hideout. So heavily guarded, he's got his own fortress. Maybe I'm lying to myself, I won't find Genova's corpse and I won't kill Ambroise Ler. And what about this woman, now? The hunter did say she was worse, didn't he? He did imply it. Maybe this is it, me going around killing people for no reason, sometimes for self-defense, sometimes because it's legitimately exciting to break such an important rule and still be free. Either way, this is my punishment. There is nothing beyond this point. It's me against all these people. But before all, I need to put my mind at ease and know where I stand in terms of morals and ethics. Am I okay with killing? If I kill for whatever reason, now is the time to set my mind straight about it, I'm fine with ending people's lives. I am what the world made me. Didn't ask for any of this. But maturity is calling the shots, sometimes in the dark. Moving forward with the spikes stuck in my feet. If I can't move forward I'll crawl like a disgusting insect on the ground."

Ismael kept engaging in stealth through the eyes of his angel, and beyond the top he was on, he could see the slightly visible and thin figure of Raven standing in the distance in the field and allowed himself one last goosebump before continuing his route. Ended up on a lost trail near a river that crosses a whole village. Ismael was beyond the point of exhaustion, his eyes, red and black, now had larger marks spreading like roots across his forehead and his thin cheeks. Dark circles beneath his eyes, deep and black after sleeping here and there for months. Bushes after trees and forests, abandonned buildings. Not a crumble of comfort, just a reanimated corpse waking up after three hours of sleep everyday at best. Poor hygiene and horrible mentality to force his way into devastating situations. And today is no less.

Stopping his tracks into a long alley protected from the heavy sun, he made sure to cover his smell with spices he quickly grabbed from merchants. Half of his face hid under the front side of his white coat he collected informations by closing his dead eyes to listen closely.

"Ambroise sent us here to add more technological developpments and make sure that this old town becomes like C.Y. Lens, but I'm not too sure it's even possible."

"Men of Ler? He's trying to spread his control. The more cities he has the closer he gets from me. He wants the entire planet to be rigged with satellites giving away my location in real time. If I let him get to me, he'll for sure never let me go. I have to remember and keep in mind that while dead already, I can still lose. He's smarter than me but I'm just insane so he'll never be too close, still I feel like the more time passes, the more he actually loses his mind. At that point he'll become unpredictable."

"The shipment for gps devices and Aeon hardwares has arrived, just put it there."

"The tech that's being shipped is already laced with Areon? He's not just smart he's sadistic. Every device in people's homes will be used to track down any intel on my location and actions. Every wifi router, every phone, smart car, everything will be branded Aeon. I'll have to exile to the deepest forests and live there, honestly..."

So Ismael takes an initiative with what he has at the moment and asks his angel to fly him above the alley on one of the houses, the one on his right, and prepares an attack. While one of the workers was carrying the large boxes, he blasted his head wide open right when he was leaning down to put down the boxes. The second one hears the noise and investigates as Ismael drops down with a bigger knife than necessary unto his neck and on the ground severes his cervicals. He then proceeds to mix up different chemicals into twelve boxes covering the entire arrow alley and burns them all. He had sprayed some water on the walls as to not burn the homes.

Ismael quickly flew with his angel but got shot in the leg. When a handful of Ambroise Ler's agents gathered around near the deck, they swiftly picked up droplets of blood and put it as their next goal to bring it to their leader. And Ismael noticed how interested they were about the blood, expecting the worst possible outcome concerning Ambroise Ler. He landed some five hundred miles away from the town and hid in a somewhat deep cave. Dove under the high water levels and resurfaced higher in an inside rock formation where he doze off and slept. During that window frame, the angel felt something in the water, a ferocious and bright monster akin to a predator chasing its' prey. Even the angel needed a break but this time he had to stay focused.

So he leans forward, focuses his senses, and the sound of water being moved from the inside drags on closer, and a hand reaches out to his face and grabs it, almost to bring him to the water with it. At the last second he grabs the arm and pulls out the person.

"So you're one of her toys."

"I have to kill him", he says, pulling out a gun on Ismael.

The angel cuts his arm off and lets go of the hand to get his hand on his face and break his skull on the wall surface.

"Basil Morgan. What brings you here exactly?"

"I'm tired of receiving orders from people who don't give a shit about me. I'll do whatever I want, be free and make my way to Heaven."

"Not with this attitude you're not, young man."

The hand still firmly wrapped around the gun pulld the trigger, shooting a bullet to Ismael's ribs as the angel takes away the hand and uses the gun to shoot Basil's head and beheads him with the sword-like weapon on his arm. He then proceeded to use the blood to attract a shark and threw the rest of the body with the head in the water.

"Now to heal the master."

He takes the bullet out of his body and places his hands on the wound and prays.
