Chapter 60 - : The Shadow Lords Awaken

The silence after the destruction of the colossal anchor did not feel like victory.

It felt like a breath.

A single, temporary pause before something far worse exhaled.

The shattered battlefield floated in slow motion around them. Fragments of broken terrain drifted lazily, some still crackling with leftover energy from Luka's lightning and Vicky's nullification waves. The remains of the Infinite Shadows evaporated like fading smoke.

But the cracks in the Void floor…

They were still glowing.

Vicky stood at the center of the devastation, eyes fixed on those fractures.

"They're not closing," he said quietly.

Aerito wiped a thin line of shadow residue from his blade. "Yeah. I noticed."

Arna's voice trembled slightly. "Does that mean more are coming?"

Before anyone could answer—

The cracks pulsed.

Once.

Twice.

Then the entire battlefield trembled violently.

Luka tightened his grip on his weapon. "That's not normal regeneration…"

No.

This was different.

The energy rising from the fissures wasn't chaotic like before.

It was controlled.

Focused.

Deliberate.

And then—

The ground split open.

Not dozens of cracks.

Not hundreds.

Just three.

Massive, symmetrical fractures tearing through the Void like claws ripping fabric.

From each of them…

A presence emerged.

The temperature dropped instantly.

The air thickened.

And even the drifting debris froze mid-air.

Three towering figures rose slowly from the darkness.

Unlike the previous shadows, these had defined shapes.

Armor-like structures formed from compressed black energy.

Long cloaks of shifting darkness.

And glowing white sigils carved across their chests.

Arna whispered, barely audible—

"…They're different."

Vicky's gaze sharpened.

"Yes."

One of the figures stepped forward.

Its voice did not echo in the air.

It vibrated directly in their minds.

—"Intruders."—

Aerito's smirk returned, though his eyes were serious now.

"Oh great. They talk."

The second figure raised its hand slightly.

The remaining shadow residue on the battlefield suddenly surged upward and fused into its body.

Its aura spiked.

Luka's expression hardened.

"These aren't anchors…"

Vicky nodded slowly.

"No."

His eyes narrowed.

"They're commanders."

The first Shadow Lord moved.

No warning.

No build-up.

It vanished.

Vicky's instincts screamed.

He turned—

CLANG!!

Aerito blocked a massive blade of condensed darkness that had appeared inches from Vicky's neck.

The shockwave cracked the floating terrain beneath them.

"Careful!" Aerito growled.

The Shadow Lord reappeared several meters away, observing.

Testing.

Vicky stepped forward calmly.

"You wanted stronger opponents."

Aerito grinned.

"Oh, I'm not complaining."

The second Shadow Lord extended both arms.

The Void behind it distorted—

—and hundreds of shadow spears materialized in the sky.

"MOVE!" Luka shouted.

The spears rained down like a black meteor shower.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Explosions erupted across the battlefield.

Arna reacted instantly.

"Spatial Barrier: Absolute Dome!"

A translucent sphere of compressed space expanded around the team, deflecting dozens of spears upon impact. Each collision sent ripples across the barrier, but it held.

For now.

Vicky analyzed the pattern mid-chaos.

"They're synchronized," he said. "One close combat. One ranged suppression."

"And the third?" Luka asked.

As if answering—

The third Shadow Lord raised its hand slowly.

The battlefield darkened.

Not visually.

Energetically.

A heavy pressure descended over them.

Vicky felt his movements slightly restricted.

"…Debuff field," he muttered.

Aerito clicked his tongue.

"So one tank, one artillery, one control."

Luka exhaled slowly.

"Perfect team."

The first Shadow Lord charged again.

This time, Vicky moved to intercept.

Their fists collided—

BOOOOM!!

The impact cracked space itself.

The Shadow Lord's strength was immense, but Vicky matched it perfectly.

He twisted his wrist mid-clash.

"Eclipse Break."

A surge of void energy detonated from his palm, blasting the Shadow Lord backward through three floating landmasses.

It recovered mid-air.

Impressive.

Aerito joined instantly, launching forward.

"Flare Severance: Twin Fang!"

Two blazing arcs crossed in an X-pattern, slicing through the Shadow Lord's torso.

But instead of shattering—

It absorbed part of the energy.

Luka noticed immediately.

"They adapt to repeated signatures!"

"Then don't repeat them!" Aerito replied.

The artillery Shadow Lord fired another wave.

This time, the spears weren't aimed at them.

They targeted the ground.

When they struck—

Black pillars erupted upward, trapping the team in a maze of vertical shadow spikes.

Arna gritted her teeth.

"They're separating us!"

The control-type Lord intensified its field.

Vicky felt his energy output being slightly suppressed.

Not enough to cripple him.

But enough to matter.

Luka's eyes flared with determination.

"Then I'll break the formation."

He stepped forward.

Aura exploding outward.

"Storm Ascension."

Lightning erupted around his body, lifting him slightly off the ground.

The suppression field crackled violently under the pressure.

Luka raised his blade high.

"Thunderfall Dominion!"

He slammed it downward.

A massive column of lightning tore through the shadow pillars, vaporizing them and disrupting the artillery Lord's focus.

The battlefield cleared slightly.

Aerito laughed.

"That's more like it!"

The first Shadow Lord attacked again.

This time faster.

Sharper.

Its blade shifted into multiple segmented edges.

Vicky leaned back just in time—

—but a second strike grazed his shoulder.

A thin line of darkness spread briefly across his skin.

Corruption.

Vicky clenched his jaw and activated "Absolute Nullification."

The darkness evaporated instantly.

He stepped in close.

Too close for the Lord to react.

"Oblivion Impact."

His punch connected directly with the sigil on its chest.

CRAAAAAACK!!

For the first time—

The sigil fractured.

The Lord staggered.

That was the key.

Aerito saw it.

"Target the chest marks!"

Arna responded instantly.

"Spatial Lock: Precision Bind!"

She froze the first Lord mid-motion for exactly one second.

That was all Vicky needed.

He vanished.

Reappeared in front of the sigil.

And drove his fist forward again.

BOOOOOOM!!

The sigil shattered completely.

The first Shadow Lord exploded into fragments of dark energy.

One down.

Two to go.

The artillery Lord roared in fury.

Its body expanded, merging with nearby shadow residue.

Its aura doubled.

The sky filled with thousands of spears.

Luka smirked.

"Fine."

He extended both arms.

Lightning spiraled outward, forming a rotating sphere around him.

"Celestial Tempest: Overdrive!"

He launched upward.

The sphere expanded violently.

Every incoming spear that touched it disintegrated instantly.

Mid-air, Luka spun, channeling everything into one final strike.

"Thunderfall Cataclysm!"

He hurled the condensed lightning downward.

It struck directly into the artillery Lord's core.

The explosion illuminated the entire Void.

When the light faded—

The second Shadow Lord was gone.

The control-type Lord remained.

And it was furious.

The suppression field intensified.

Gravity itself warped.

Arna fell to one knee briefly under the pressure.

Luka gritted his teeth mid-air.

Even Aerito struggled to move freely.

But Vicky…

Vicky stepped forward calmly.

Red eyes glowing brighter than ever.

"You rely on weakening others."

The Shadow Lord's sigil pulsed.

Vicky's aura flared violently, breaking through the suppression.

"Then I'll show you…"

He extended his hand slowly.

"What true dominance feels like."

A sphere of pure void energy formed around him.

"Eclipse Dominion."

The suppression field shattered instantly.

The Shadow Lord staggered.

Aerito didn't hesitate.

He dashed forward with blinding speed.

"Flare Severance: Final Edge!"

His blade pierced straight through the sigil.

At the same time—

Luka descended from above.

"Lightning Fang: Breaker!"

And Arna unleashed—

"Dimensional Collapse!"

All three attacks struck simultaneously.

The sigil cracked.

Shattered.

And the final Shadow Lord disintegrated into nothingness.

Silence returned.

The cracks in the Void slowly began closing.

The battlefield stabilized.

Arna collapsed onto the floating terrain, breathing heavily.

Luka landed beside her, exhausted but smiling faintly.

Aerito sheathed his blade.

"Well," he said casually, "that was fun."

Vicky stared at the horizon.

But his expression wasn't relaxed.

Because far in the distance—

Beyond where the Shadow Lords had emerged—

The Void pulsed once more.

Slow.

Heavy.

Ancient.

And a familiar whisper brushed against his mind again.

—Rule of Code… is awakening.—

Vicky's eyes narrowed.

"This isn't over."

Aerito glanced at him.

"Of course it isn't."

Luka smirked despite his fatigue.

"Then let's finish it next time."

But deep within the Void…

Something vast was opening its eyes.

And the real war…

Hadn't even begun yet.
