Chapter 13 - Days Gone By

The days passed quickly as she watched her baby boy grow up.

After his accidental magic, she watched as a grin came over his face as he celebrated his achievement.

Her baby boy started smiling again, and she was glad to no longer feel his negative emotions.

He was happy, and that was all that mattered to her.

The joys only doubled that holiday season when she learned she was about 6 weeks pregnant. The mood around the house lifted back to what it was like before.

After her baby boy witnessed his magic, she found him trying to replicate his previous feats. She knew, once again, how special and driven her baby boy was; even after his success with magic, he still pursued magic with the same intensity.

To be honest, she was ecstatic he was so besotted with magic; it felt good to know he was just like her in that matter.

While she already knew he was desperate and had a deep desire for magic, she also found he loved magic as she did. It felt like their shared love for magic was one more thing that could connect her with her baby boy.

Watching his repeated attempts at magic, she once again felt like the obsession she possessed with magic was rekindled. She no longer avoided using magic in his presence and now did everything she could with magic.

She would cook food, wash the dishes, do laundry, and clean the house, all with magic. She loved the way his eyes sparkled as he watched her use magic, and the need to do everything by hand was replaced by their love for magic.

However, there was one thing that bothered her.

It was that her baby boy never brought up magic with her. He would watch intently as she used magic, but he never asked her about his accidental magic. He had only celebrated his accidental magic with her, and after that, it was radio silent.

She had been expecting questions about what happened that day or comments about how he could do magic, but none came.

Instead, she found him trying to replicate his feats on his own. She would have expected him to have many questions after that day, but he never mentioned it again.

Was it because he was "hiding" his attempts at magic? Did he think she didn't know about all his attempts at magic?

After a week of seeing him fail to replicate the magic, she decided to shift his focus.

Her baby boy would be 5 years old in a couple of months and would be starting school, so she started preparing him for that.

She started to teach him reading and writing. He once again proved how blessed and smart he was by breezing through what she taught him. He didn't make any mistakes once she taught him something. She often thought he already knew all the words and their spelling, probably from the storybooks she read to him.

Even so, she saw their time spent together learning as a way to distract her son from magic, and it also allowed her extra time to spend with her baby boy.

She was uncertain what the coming days would look like since another baby was on the way.

She and Francis had already decided that he would attend Hallfeild Primary School, which was close to them and had high academic standards. They bypassed the long waiting list by generously donating to the school.

After a couple of months of school, she started noticing something.

Henry had trouble making friends.

She often spoke to his teachers about his progress and any concerns they had regarding Henry. Fortunately, they had nothing but good things to say about him.

They had praised her for preparing him for school and mentioned how advanced he was compared to the other kids, but she knew she didn't have a lot to do with his brilliance; her baby boy was just blessed by magic.

One day, out of curiosity, she had asked the teachers about the kids her baby boy interacted with, and that was when she found out he didn't really speak to any of his classmates.

He focused solely on his studies, without playing or talking to other kids. Even though she, too, was the same way when she studied at Hogwarts, she didn't want it to be this way for her baby boy.

Making friends was an experience she missed out on because she was so devoted to magic. She had been a loner all through her years in Hogwarts, and it was one of the things she actually wished her baby boy wouldn't inherit from her.

Alas, it seemed he took after her in that regard as well.

After noticing this trend, she and Francis had tried to speak to him about making friends in school.

They had tried to suggest topics to discuss and how to introduce yourself, even teaching him that a simple compliment about someone was a great way to open a conversation.

It seemed to work for a couple of days, as he told them at dinner, about how he spoke to kids in class, but it only lasted a short while. It wasn't long before he stopped talking about attempts to make friends.

After a couple of months at school, it seemed like her baby boy had all but given up making friends.

He went back to his normal routine of attempting magic. After coming home from school, he would spend an hour or 2 with her and go straight to his room to practice magic.

It was during this time that she suspected something amazing.

One day, as she was "spying" on him as he tried to lift his favorite toy, a G.I Joe action figurine. She felt his emotion spike as she watched him do magic. After a couple of attempts, she felt the emotions settle as he took deep breaths. He would raise his hands again, and she would feel his emotions spike.

Had her boy connected emotions with magic? She suspected he was attempting to use emotion as a catalyst to invoke magic.

She was astonished as she watched her 5-year-old son attempt something mentioned only in her 4th-grade books: that emotions amplify magic.

Her baby boy was truly gifted and blessed by magic.

Her days continued like that for a while, watching and feeling as her son shifted through a range of emotions. It never got to the point where she felt his emotions again after his accidental magic day; his emotions never got as extreme as that day, so she let him experiment with magic while keeping a close eye on him.

It was adorable seeing her baby boy closing the door after making sure she wasn't paying attention when he tried to "secretly" use magic.

She ofcourse keep finding new ways to keep spying on him; she wasn't going to let him experiment with magic without supervision once she knew he was deliberately using his emotions to use magic.

She spent her days watching her baby boy practice magic. Some days, she would be able to feel that he was feeling desperate; some days, he used despair to fuel his magic. He would bring these emotions to the surface, attempt to use them for magic, and let them cool afterwards.

One day, it came as a surprise when she felt him feeling joy through their connection after getting used to him feeling negative emotions.

She started to feel pride of her own at the thought that her baby boy figured out that while negative emotions could be used to fuel magic, so could positive emotions.

It never got to the point where she could directly feel his emotions through their connection, as she had that day, so she was quite happy that he wasn't really feeling that intense anymore.

The days passed by quickly as Henry got lost in magic, as she kept an eye on him and took care of the house, and Francis occupied with his Ministry job.

Until July of 1982
